Re: Stuff n Junk w/ Crowley
I've had 2-3 sessions a week for the last month, after 2-3 sessions/year for the last 15 years. Mostly just doing cardio with tiltless runs. It's been a lot of fun. toe zulu legover b2b may be my new favorite combo. Haven't had alcohol or tobacco in 6 weeks, and have lost 20 lbs (was at 217. Yikes!).
Randomly clicked on Jeremy O'Wheel's profile. He hasn't posted in 10 years, but is still averaging 1.2 posts per day with how much he used to be on this site haha.

Good to hear you are back kicking and great job with alcohol and tobacco.

Re: Stuff n Junk w/ Crowley
Quitting Alcohol and tobacco sounds like a smart move. Well done. When I quit smoking, I replaced it with chewing gum; every time I had an urge, I took out my pack of gum, carefully opened it enough to get one piece of gum out, then carefully closed it. That helped a lot. Not sure you care, but thought to say it anyway.
It's great you are kicking more. Come September I will be back on my work schedule, which means I can kick almost everyday!

Re: Stuff n Junk w/ Crowley
Thanks!
Woke up early yesterday, so decided to kick at some tennis courts before breakfast. Played for an hour. I forgot how much gentler tennis court surface is on the knees. I'm hoping it's also gentle on sole wear. Slowly warmed up and included things like outside kick>gyro inside kicks, kicks>duck/diving/weaving/zulu kicks with insides, toes, outsides. Tried a few tricks for the first time in probably over a decade, and got them all both sides, which I was stoked about. Atom smasher, bubbabeater, pdx drifter, pdx dlo, blurry whirl. I've always sucked at pdx drifter and pdx dlo, so that was pretty chill.

Re: Stuff n Junk w/ Crowley
Had a 1 hour solo session. About half of it is standing around and catching my breath after tiltless runs. Did spin whirl bs for the first time in years, and started a decent string with blur>dimwalk>rpt. Took a video at the end, but had nothing left in the tank, so it's a short tiltless run. Decided to post it anyways, so I can see where my form is wonky.

Played yesterday, but it was too hot and there was no shade around, so called it after 20-30 minutes. Mostly did tiltless while I'm trying to remember how to play, but tried a few 3s and 4s. I've always sucked at ducking illusion, but attempted them a bit and hit a few.
-ducking pdx illusion>torque>run bs
-clip dlo>ss egg bsos
-(blur>dimwalk>rpt)>tomahawk>run
-blurriest bs
I was very happy with all of those.

Re: Stuff n Junk w/ Crowley
Kicked after work yesterday. It was mostly tiltless, but did a few drills with 3s and 4s.
Things I was happy about included:
-(dimwalk>blur>rpt)>(toe whirl>blur>rpt)>string
-(spin clip>gyro clip>rpt)>(duck clip>dive clip>rpt)>string
-(sidewalk>ripwalk>rpt)>string
-flip tomahawk
Got the phone out to film a string at the end of the session, and managed to hit a new link first try. Flip torque>strong ddd>short string. However, the camera angle is terrible. It felt clean to me. I tried the other side about 5 or 6 times and got torque each time, but my flip ddd is crappy. I don't think I got clean dexes on any of them lol.

Re: Stuff n Junk w/ Crowley
I've been kicking 1-2 times per week. Having a lot of fun seeing how long I can go tiltless with a few things I make myself hit each session before quitting (dlo bs, egg bs, torque bs, drifter bs, whirl war 1, dimwalk>blur>rpt, atom smasher bs, barfly bs). The last 3 take me much longer to do than they should, but oh well. It's been a long process trying to relearn footbag after hardly playing in the last 15 years. My soles are wearing through, but I have a backup pair of quantums that a friend gave me. They're a size or maybe more too big though, so we'll see. Also, I've been building a modular synthesizer over the last year. I joined imgur so that I could share a pic, and threw in a picture of my quantums as well. At least I'm playing on the balls of my feet.

Played yesterday. Every once in awhile, I take out the phone to film a run, and then put the phone away whether I get what I wanted or not. Stephen Barnes one-shot challenge style. Managed to get flip tomahawk first try, which I was pretty happy with. It def needs to be deeper.
I realized that I've never attempted very much weaving, and figured it should be the same as just a ducking set. My body sure doesn't think so. Ended the session with ducking, weaving, diving, and zulu legover all either bs or bsos. Also did spin duck mirage bs. 4 months ago, I didn't think I'd ever be able to do those again. I could barely set the bag high enough to duck, and couldn't gyro/spin for my life.

Re: Stuff n Junk w/ Crowley
Kicked yesterday. My legs were sore right off the bat but got a few things I'm happy with. I'm terrible at drifter, but did drifter>torque bsos first try, gyro illusion bs and bsos, and bubbabeater bsos first try.
At the end of the session, I took out the camera to try whirr because I hit my first one in 10-15 years last session. Tried a few times and didn't even get the first dex, so I bailed to a final string of 2s. Then tried whirr 2 or 3 more times and managed to get it. Here's both those vids.
Side note: I really dislike what I do with my arms when I play and my style in general, especially when tired. But what can you do

Re: Stuff n Junk w/ Crowley
Had a 2 hour solo session on Friday. I've kind of been stuck doing long-ish tiltless runs (40-50 contacts?), but had some runs with trying all my generic 3s bsos in single strings (torque, whirl, dlo, spin clip, duck clip, gyro clip). Evan Lovely was in town last week, and we had a session. It was pretty awesome. He hadn't played in years but seemed like he never stopped. He did pendulous ripwalk, mobius, and other great runs.
Hadn't played in probably 2 months. Went to North Carolina for the first time to visit my wife's brother. Then got back and started moving to another apartment. Messed my back up picking up the very first box for moving and couldn't transition from laying on the ground to sitting up. Had to call my dad to take me to the ER. I swear I lifted with my legs and not my back. Had to get an MRI. The doctor said I had a slight bulge, and then I said "But what about my back?". She didn't find it as funny as I did. Then a week later, frantically packed for moving and cleaned the old apartment. Our property management company is notorious for not returning deposits according to online reviews. Maybe people just suck at cleaning though, because I got almost the entire deposit back after being there for 5 years and enough cat hair around to make a mattress. The new apartment is dope. The old one was surrounded by meth heads, but this neighborhood is rad and has a dank view of the mountains surrounding Missoula.
I turn 40 tomorrow, and kind of freaking out internally. But whatevs.Just need to ride the freak out until it subsides.

Re: Stuff n Junk w/ Crowley
Came across some footage from around 10 years ago that I forgot about. It was a few shots that I had on instagram. The one I was really hoping to find, wasn't there, but here's a link bs I was stoked on.
