Re: Chris Tristano
"Don't blame the shoe, blame the player."
I was told this a while ago when I kept dropping flip Clipper. I tried a bunch of dumb mods, like stapling fabric to my instep, shoe goo instep, etc... Then I finally manned up and said "If Peter Irish can shred so well in just Lavers with basic mods, I should be able to, also." Then I just practiced form-intensive drills, like Clipper> op muted Inside *rpt (keeping your support leg stationary), Gyro Clippers b2b, consecutive Reverse Swirls bs, etc. It wasn't the Lavers, it was me. My form was junk. Not saying your form is junk, because it's not, but until you can do 50 tiltless without giving a shit/trying hard, your form is not great yet. Hope this helps.

Re: Chris Tristano
I don't think I am blaming the shoe. I just think I injured myself irreversibly in the past and it won't allow my foot to be less than a 45 degree angle from horizontal. I am curious if adding extra angle on the inside curve will allow me to better utilize my right leg clipper. I am on the dangerous path of one sidednessF[uns]tylin' Eclectic wrote:"Don't blame the shoe, blame the player."
Or you're right, and I am just being a big O'l baby and should just suck it up and keep dropping till I get it.
Are there any downsides to adding extra 'shoe'? Will my lavers lose longevity?
Re: Chris Tristano
I think you should keep working on it before taking action but if you feel you must do it, do it on both shoes. I never really liked lavers but unfortunately it's usually the best avaliable option.

Re: Chris Tristano
I agree with Drew. I think you should give it a few more months of just flipside Clipper focus. There's a metaphor that we've been using for years, which is "sitting on the air chair"... ok, so maybe I just made it up, but it sounds great, right? Sitting on the air chair is all about squatting lower, by bending your support knee and kind of sitting on an imaginary chair.
Also, look at Nathan Pipenberg. He's just about as tall as you, has worse crank than you, but STILL puts us all to shame. Studying his Clipper method might be really helpful. here's a video:

Re: Chris Tristano
I'd never seen that drifters vid. Pipebomb kills. You're probably right though. his crank's not all that, but the form is impeccable.

Re: Chris Tristano
Thank you for your input but I realize that if I do it, it will be on a whim one day. So who knows what will happen. Maybe I'll try it out before I wear this pair out.
Had a nice day of footbag today. One of my best sessions in a while. Lots of bop. A few new tricks. Swirls on the flip felt a lot better.
Highlights from past few sessions:
spinning paradox mirage (or is it gyro?)
Barrage BS
Magellan > PLO > Magellan > PLO
Whirling swirl mid string - did a few. They are feeling more doable.
simple swirl
whirl x9 (personal record)
Here are some clips from the last session we had:
--Yes, it's a man bun. It is very practical when shredding.

Yo! Merry Christmas Ya'll!
Had a session with dave yesterday in the rain. I was feeling fairly nauseous for some reason. Still got around to hitting some new combos and tricks.
Also had a session last week at SUNY suffolk indoor track. That was pretty dope. We may have a winter spot!
Highlights:
pixie guay
toe torque
pixie osis > swirl
spinning clipper > whirling swirl
clipper > double pick up > double ATW BS
double pick up bsos
blink
Footbag is dope...

Yo!!
Kicked with boat the other day and the local community college. There was a basketball game going on and it required admission but we snuck in because we're badass. It's a nice place but it's so freaking dry! So difficult to breathe.
Nothing crazy exciting going on in highlights but I did have a few good runs. My pixies are definitely becoming more consistent. I can pretty much throw them in after any trick. Im just coming up short on that bronze pixie badge.
Boatz' neck was all kinked up and ish. Looked like he wasn't hitting stuff he usually could.
toe same double down BS
pixie op pickup > pixie op pickup > magellan > PLO > Magellan > drop (So Close!)
Can't wait for spring to start training full time again!!

Holy shit. You're really cracking at it, aren't ya? Good, man. I'm really glad you've stuck with it. I always saw potential in you. Use the spring of the earth to help you get those Pixie sets solid. And Toe ss Double Down is called "Double Over Down"or "DOD". All great highlights. Props! Come to PSU Jamps in April!
