Re: AdAstra's Footblog: Summer Tiltless Grind.

8 September 2016

Haven't practiced in over a week, which I think may be the norm now that grad school has picked up. Pretty unfortunate.

Today I drilled:
-ss clipper
-op clipper (best 13)
-far legover on flipside
-strings (best 11)
-clipper near mirage BSOS drill
-mirage
-clipper near pickup BSOS drill (best 10)
-ATW and Orbit bs. These were crisp but all other dexes weren't.
-double orbit strong side, hit this like 6 or 7 times. All of my mistakes were much more manageable than in the last too so I feel like I'm getting closer to hitting this more regularly. Worked on flipside too even though I haven't hit one clean yet.

Highlights and other notes:

Footed my first flip side double orbit!!

Footed reverse swirl on flipside for the first time so that's promising. The muscles actually listen a little better now.

Also working on a surprise trick but if I'm only practicing once a week I doubt I'll hit it any time soon.

In other news FC Cincinnati is headed to the playoffs so hopefully we can bring home the cup. Looks like we may end up as the regular season 2 or 3 place depending on these last few games.

Your game sounds like it's really picking up. Great work. Keep it up!

Thanks Nick! Unfortunately I haven't the time to focus on footbag in any serious way right now but I'm hoping that will change as I adjust to grad school.

Practiced today for the first time in awhile.

Drills:
-ATW and Orbits bs
-ss clipper bs
-clipper op clipper (best 11).
-tiltless strings (best 11). Tried to stick to my lesser used tricks as much as possible.

Highlights:
-PLO bs.
-whirl > pdx mirage

Not my best but I haven't practiced in forever.

Hey everyone. I'm still alive. No footbag to speak of though because of how busy I am. It's killing me and I can't wait for a break so I can play.

In preparation for actually having some free time for once, what's the best way to get back into form?

One way could be to start from the basics. Set a number goal for yourself and do consecutives, e.g.,:

op toe stall x 50

That way:
1. You have a goal.
2. It is clear to see if you have achieved it or not.

SMART goals.

Also work both feet/sides equally. Be symmetric!

26 December 2016

Practiced for the first time in a long time today (over three months).

Per advice, I took it easy for the most part.

-50 toe op toe (1st try, hopefully not as rusty as I thought I'd be)
-worked on some ATW/orbits and my flipside was dismal.
-clipper practice. Ss drill, op drill, clipper to ss toe drill. Strongside seems good as ever, flipside only slightly worse than mediocre. Can easily drill these back I think.
-tried out a bunch of tricks to see if I could still hit them. Far butterfly, toe ss butterfly, far legover, cloud, etc were all still very much hitable despite the hiatus. Was happy that I could hit most of these bs. Still can only hit swirl on strongside.
-strings. Best tiltless: 14 with a good degree of both-sidedness
-near pickup BSOS drill

Cardio not good...

Form is better than I thought it'd be on a good deal of tricks but definitely rusty on flipside dexes.

Good to get back into it. Nice that a lot of tricks are still there for you. It is a good way to wear off the Christmas lunches and dinners.

2 January 2017

Practiced again today.
Still rusty.

Drilled:

Atw and orbits bs.
Clipper bs.
Tiltless strings

Highlights:

-BSOS'd Far Butterfly
-19 string tiltless, including a Far butterfly > op far butterfly > op Far butterfly just to see if I could. Fair degree of bs-ness, can do better though. Almost back to where I used to be in terms of balance. String Included 12 strong side, 7 flip. Dropped on flipside near pickup. BSOS'd near pickup as well.
- relearned Pdx mirage bs. Love this trick.

Long time no see fam. I typed up a big post but then modified told me to relog and I lost it. Oh well. In short: grad school has eaten up all my time; it's finally summer.

A few highlights:

-BSOS far butterfly
-fairy cloud (new for me)

Bag placement was poor.
