2100 posts. Mike maybe we can grab a bite this weekend. I'm going to email you anyway in case you don't check the thread. I'll have to see who's in town then, it'll be a good opportunity to see everyone before leaving.

Also, to anyone reading this blog, I have a bunch of tournament T-shirts for sale. $8 includes shipping, check them out.

Everything I need is going in my car for the cross country trip. Except I'm mailing my books cause they're heavy. So these shirts gotta go! Please check out the thread.

Chris,

I am going away this weekend, leaving Friday night. We could do lunch on Friday, or if your Thursday night is free we can meet then.

Let me know. Peace.

Hey guys, so I realize it's crazy last minute and don't really expect anyone to respond but I figured I should ask anyway.... Anyone want to play tomorrow? (Yes I realize it's Independence Day, but shenanigans don't start until sunset)

On an unrelated note, Godspeed in Portland Chris! Show those west coast kicker fools how the east coast rolls!

I may be in. Have to go out of town briefly in the morning, but might be able to play in the late afternoon. Let me know what time you decide on.

Alright well I was just talking to Ian and we were thinking around 5-6? He has work until 4 and I have to uproot 5 trees so we're kinda busy during the day. So how's 5-6 sound?

My God, has it really been a year since our last post? What is up everyone? Who is still kicking? What's new in your life?

I got back into the game this year and so far things are progressing nicely. I hope to put out a video for your guys later this summer once I have a little more length to my strings and some moves to impress you with.

As for the rest of my life, my son Noah is now 27 months old and I have a daughter named Lilly Isabella who is 3 months old. Notice all of the old's in that last sentence. Man, I need to stay healthy. Anyway, Julia and I just celebrated our 4th year wedding anniversary yesterday. We feel very blessed for what we have.

Wishing you guys all the best.

Peace.

Great session this morning.

Post by mikeanello » 12 Jul 2011 10:38

I am going to start using this footblog as a personal footbag diary. For one, I want to keep in touch with my old shred buddies, including the man who introduced me to the sport, namely Matt Cross. Second, I want to share with you my successes and my failures so you can cheer or sigh along with me.

This morning I warmed up with some upper body exercises. My back is still sensitive to, well just about anything I do, so having a strong core will help keep it in check. I am also going to try losing more weight so the more muscles I work out the better. I lost about 20 pounds during the first few months of this year and have been floating around 175 ever since. It has made playing footbag a lot easier. When it comes to weight, less it better.

Today I hit a bunch of old combos and some new moves that I hope to become routine for me.

REPEATS
toe set ducking clip > ducking clip > ducking legover > repeat
paradox mirage > smear > butter > repeat
paradox illusion > smudge > butter > repeat

BOTH SIDES
pixie legover > pixie clip > spinning legover
pixie legover > smear > double legover
pixie legover > smudge > eggbeater
spinning clip > spinning legover
paradox mirage > atom smasher
toe blur
legbeater
atomic clip
drifter
paradox whirl

That's all for now.

Peace.

It was really exciting to see the RFA blog was back and that you were posting in it, Mike! Great to hear all of the good news with your family. You've built a very good life for yourself and the Anellos.

And of course it's good to know you're playing again :D

Life out here in Portland is excellent, especially now that summer is here. About a month ago I passed the 9 year mark of playing freestyle footbag, (not counting the years I played hack in high school before meeting you and Matt). I just hit my first Beast and 10 Unique Fearless, both of which are forever enshrined on YouTube.

I miss Rochester and kicking with you guys, and look forward to my next visit.

Nice combos. I'll be stealing a few for my own drills if you don't mind!

Mike Anello!

Good to see you playing again! Hope you and your family are doing well. I would love to kick with you again the next time I am in Rochester.

Your name actually came up this weekend at Montreal. You're a legend!

Loved it. Classic shred spot =) I thought it was great how this video could have come from back in the mid-2000's with the other basement videos and it would be hard to tell the difference, especially with you wearing a GRASS 2 shirt.

Good to see you playing again, Mike! It looks like you're back up to solid guiltless strings, hopefully with a strong back. Props on the illusion drill toward the end of the video.

Sticky as ever, Matt. I'm digging the reverse walkover rewind you were doing, and that transfer combo at 7:00 is amazing!

Also, props on the 433ft Hack Walk

Chris,

Thanks a lot for the nice comments. While I was uploading this video to YouTube I watched a few old basement videos. I almost named this video "in his basement 8" but decided against it because there just wasn't enough looniness in the video and also it wasn't about me, it was about Matt and me. Perhaps next time I have the camera rolling I will make one of "those" videos. I had a great time shredding with Matt again. Even though it had been years since the last time, it felt very familiar and exciting at the same time.

Peace.
