Nice one, that's pretty wild. Maybe someone like Honza or Jim has also hit that.

For the top post painting, I've actually put in a little video. We went to an exhibition at "Artequin" which is mainly a kids art museum, they had this exhibition about mosaics in Italy. It was really well set up and quite interesting.

Congrats on fairy tail and fairy motion sickness! Also East Coasts sounds so fun! When was that? I was in NYC not long after that write-up of yours! Great that you seem to be playing so much again lately! Loving the footage on YouTube.

Oh, also, Daniel, you owe another top post painting here as well :p

Worlds writeup
Started week at 163 pounds, finished at 158

Sunday tams sess
Once I arrived at tams there was a group already there! No one seemed keen to play yet as the heat wave had just began. It wad hot, but we got a circle or two going fairly quick and people been kicking and shredding to the drums for abojt 3 hours. Not the busyest tams in history, usually 3x more drummers, but it was a great time! I ended up next to net courts and hang out with family and had the chance to catch up with Jana and her kid while Tuomas was still playing some games on the courts

Monday funday
The real chaos I had at worlds was the monday. For thoe who ignore, Yes I was the freestyle director but my job was just begining. Prior to worlds my work was minimal due to family work and also health issue Nazly that came up later.

Had to sort out all the details for our equipment on monday, Nori was amazing to help, I won't say enough times.

Basicly monday morning felt like building a 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle. Had to figure out what material we had, where it was, who's car to use to carry to event site.

Once step 1 was done it was our first setup, figuring out how to built the popip tents, setup music, all the stuff that was not test drove prius to worlds. We where slightly late on schedule, but even with the heat, everything ran smooth like butter. We where done on time and where able to say the tournament was ON!

Events where battle and routines. I messed up my routine really bad, but I took Nathan down in battles, after some weeks trash talking to him!
I did'nt hang around for the party or evening

Tuesday
The heat and sun where there, but already we had to plan for wednesday due to thunderstorms and rain announced. Rippin run was due wednesday evening on top of mount royal, we decided yo do it tuesday instead as well as shred30 since there was possibility of rain on future days.

Shred30 dustin smoked it going dropless with a strong performance. Pretty much everyone did bad.
Circle I beat my friend Nathan again, the trash talk has paid off! He did medal in shred30 tough so I guess he won more then I did! 😂

Players where cooked and asked to do rippin run at the stadium so they wouldnt warm up twice.

Pawel and brian went forever on this with super long runs, on my end I dropped after one trick haha.

In the evening we went to mount royal, it was so good, Zach showed is glow bags and circles where on after sunset.

I left the party early but that's the story of the week for me with kids.

Wednesday
Day off, Nazly and I joined Peter and Sarah for disc golf. Good times. In the evening a gang went to place des arts. It was pretty chill ambiance. Seemed everyone was burned of their day site seeing. We had some kicks. When I had to go there was a cool light display on a wall that filmed people. I got some of it on camera, will make it to my sideline video

Speaking of pretty much all week I tried to film sideline stuff. I filmed very little shred, but bunch of stuff.

Thursday
First day we started on new site. Took a bit longer to setup and figure out some details but not too much stress. We still managed to be on time for schedule once again all day.

Semi finals starting, serious stuff going down. I did better in routines, 3 drops. Nowhere near my best but fits in the average performance. Enough to make it to finals. My first real worlds finals. I was very happy about this, one of my footbag bucket list thing, probably the top one actually.

Also once I was done with my routine and talking with wife and kids for a moment, I grabbed my phone and filmed Dustin's routine while walking around the site. Seeing crowds all around the spot watching made me realise that we acheived something amazing. I had tears in my eyes as I was so happy to be part of this moment. I sent this sequence to Dustin who was gratefull for the shot, something else I need to upload on the internets

Battle I had my 2nd round against Christopher Schillem. I did OK. Nothing amazing, but made him work a bit. The outcome is easy to guess, then I moved to losers bracket, faced Brian Sherrill. That was an interesting one! I never got to play much with him. We ended on a draw and had to go sudden death. I smoked the sudden death run with my best battle run of the week I think. Next round was against Dante I think, i did poorly at this point and my battle journey was over!

Also had sick3 qualification with the jam format. The event went pretty well. Myself did poorly and didnt make the cut for final, but it was fun to try it ! I barely hit one of my safe 3 combos only!

In the evening there was a plan to go for fireworks but on the way my kids got way too tired and I had to bail. I think the consensus ended more towards the bar scene.

Friday

Semifinals and Finals of circle
I was in semis, nick landes was in my pool and scratched. I only had to beat one of 2 players in my pool for finals. Time of organisation and playing plus family life took over, I did really bad in semi and gave Chris Dean a golden ticket, would have loved to at least give him something to work for!
Finals of sick3
I missed all of it, had a phone call I couldnt pass, I am writing this now and still all I know is the winning combo. I have filmed all on my phone and will upload it eventually. I know chris hit whirling ss muted legover - pixie ss symp blink - pixie what. Fucking discusting combo.
We also managed to have womens circle final after pressuring some girls present at worlds to have theevent going! They may be rusty, but they gave a show!

Evening was video contest, and hall of fame thing. Taishi was a little shy to do a speech in english, but he managed pretty good!
Video contest, Rory did hell of a job has the MC, he ran the thing like a pro, with his legendary comic style.

Videos where cool
My favorite was clearly Zach's video. I was really shocked when we saw him perform his routine in california games. I had tears in my eyes. I know this guy works so hard on all he does, and boy was that just amazing. I was shocked when the results where announced and he was not even top2. I am not saying Pawels video wasnt amazing as well, but Zach brought something just amazing out there.

As for my ranking, well I must admit that even tough many people said they really loved it, I was easily the one who put by far the least effort in the group! I had a 30min shred sess and 20min to film sequences at home. 1 hour to edit. Badabim badaboom. Just having people laugh was great for me!

Saturday
I showed up much later the usual as we where statying late. All our gear was used by net. So I had nothing to do. Once it was almost our time we moved some stuff, and when the clock was ready I had a sound issue. My only panick moment of the week. Took me less then 5 minutes to fix thank god.

I did MC for battles, Dante killed it doing 3 battles in a row in the worst heat of the week, well earned name the inferno!
After I went to warm up for routine, felt ok in the shade. Once on stage I got the rubber leg effect. The intro of my routine was rough, had a couple drops. But finished strong. 3 drops again. I was happy with my performance anyhow, got a good crowd reply at the end. 5th place, i am soooo happy. Walking on a cloud with this one!

After was request, the new format was fun, but will need calibration. 15 combos was too many. Took a long time, but i think players liked it, will need some tweaks.

I took care of my kids at this point for a bit, walked out. Came back later, had a cool circle with chris schille , bonslayer, and chase. They all ran out of juice and I got to play with the wife in the main shred area for a bit as well, she has not shredded much in past 6 years, but managed some spins and a couple dynos!
We left just before the award ceremony started, kids had a rough week going to bed between 10pm- midnight every day. And I am leaving canada right now with them. They needed a better night of sleep.

Before leaving had a round of goodbyes, hugs, handshakes, love from the whole footbag family.

Sunday
I am leaving canada for 2 weeks
I am depressed losing footbag friends again after a crazy week
I am depressed leaving 2 weeks without my wife that cannot travel due to her illness, hopefully all healed in the next months.
I am motivated to change my routine preparing method. The first 20 seconds need to be super easy and impossible to drop even if I was drunk. Rubber leg syndrome goes away aftdr 20 seconds on stage. I told Taishi that next time we face off in routine I am coming for him!

I lost 5 pounds this week

2 ex players of montreal bought shoes this week.
Samuel Blais bought my old gunits thst fit him that where too big for me, some bags, he played most of the week!! The guy hit symp whirls both sides on his comeback day after like 13 years away from.the game!

Alex-andré Benoit, another guy who played 1 year in 2008. He bought some quantums this week and his excited to receive them!

Nazly wants to play again, i will make arrangements so kids can be cared while we have some sessions!

I did flip steping sets in circle comp, something I never do, didnt drop one either, I never felt so good doing flip steps.

I closed my tournament with stepping duccking dyno in the main freestyle area.

There is more to say, but plane about to lift, see you soon footbag!!

Great writeup! I wish I had gone to more Worlds over the years. I love the vibes there, and love all of the people! Thanks for giving me a taste of what it was like. Crazy that you managed to be the director and father successfully! Well Done!

Hopefully now that Taishi won routines we can finally have worlds here...

Excellent job organising - it looked like there was a good spread from around the world. Looked like it was very hot which would have made things challenging.

Worlds in Japan would be great, it should be done some day for sure.

I wrote to taishi, he seems interested

Hows the rest of the tokyo scene doing these days?

Didnt play much since worlds ended as im in sweden solo with 2 kids, but i kicked and did some tricks everyday, just no actual session. I did a draft at a new routine that still needs improvement but managed first minute dropless with cues, felt right

Yeah him and I have been talking. He seems interested. I told him we should talk to the association here and see what they say.

I think Tokyo is doing good. There are a few new players, but that is about it. That being said, I wouldn't know; I haven't been in touch with anyone, and with baby x2 just around the corner, who knows what will be in store. That also being said, I took a year off work (partially paid) for paternity leave so will hopefully have time to help out if Worlds is held here.

Congrats on that upcoming news!

There are a few guys that post regularly on Twitter and Instagram and they keep improving a lot. There is also a mega freestyle football scene in Japan.

If its in Tokyo count on me to help massively at the tournament, I had a good experience in montreal and can handle the pressure during the week itself :)

I'm still pretty motivated with footbag since worlds.
playing almost everyday
been working on stuff I've been neglecting for so long
last 2 sess where dedicated to atomic, I think I'll keep pushing those for a bit, today was mostly doing atomsmasher to smear on both sides, eventually repeating. Done this so long ago but it shows I never do atomic.
At the end of the session I could feel pain in the abs from overdoing atomics, but gladly not the bad kind of pain but the one where you feel you've been working out

I hit a the fusion, did'nt clean this trick for over 15 years, I'll get it back, it's flip atomic for good double down, and I'm aiming to hit atomic motion eventually, did not even try yet it's out of reach for now.

Hey! Fun to read your first blog entry and these recent ones.

What's the deal with super ball locations? Does it move around also? If Japan has such a freestyle football scene maybe there's just one big combined worlds in Japan? Makes me think we would get bigger turnouts for US Open and Euros also...

Superball is always in Czech - sometimes it's in Liberec (where they had it this year, I think they have a really good relationship with the city and get various venues for free).

Found out a flaw in my flip clipper. Steps got a good upgrade out of it but still not mastering to correct this flaw as its 20 years in the making 🤣😂

I been working on atomica for close to 2 weeks, big improvements so far. Today got 4.5 contacts of rubberman. I got 2 contacts from anywhere. 3 contacts each side starting from legbeatee and blur, didnt try from atomsmasher yet

Im taking it easy to get there, the 4.5 was because i wanted to hit flip blur atom legbeater and i just kept going once I hit it

Before I started I doubted I had energy for it and getting a real shot at nailing this drill eventually

Im very excited about playing these days, some days 2 sessions, rarely missing a day as well
