strange popping
strange popping
The other day when I went out to shred, I was warming up and my hip popped when I tried an inside stall. It was a little painful, and I was wondering if this had happened to anyone else. Both hips were popping, and I had to stop. Later, it went away.

hey becca. sorry about your hips.
anyway, this started happening to when i was first learning legovers... and they still do. it used to hurt but now they just kind of click when i legover or pickup. i normally just stretch and then later in a session it wont be so bad. maybe some yoga would help too.

Yoga would deffinately help. This happens to me alot, just like Holly said it started out super high pitched and painful, and now it's just a click...I barely feel it.
But it hurt like crazy the first time. I was actually attacking my sister(who is a dancer, so her legs are super strong, just like a footbagger
) and in mid-run my hip popped and I dropped to the ground, totally leaving me open for my sister's barrage of crazy kicks to the ribs
.

I went to the doc some weeks ago, because I have the same problem... the first time I realized this, was just at doing a inside stall and moving my feet up und down slowly
then the same thing happened at doing some toe delays (hm, I don't know how to explain it, but I think you know, there are different ways of doing a toe delay... I am not used to do it by lifting my knee, but by lifting my toe), when I started using the technique you need to use for atw, pixie and so on...
the doctor explained, what this popping means (sorry, I can't do it in english, ask your biology teacher or your doc :p), and he told me, if it's not really painful it's no problem and I am allowed to shred on (I was really afraid not to be allowed)
another tip: keep an eye on your speed, my hip doesn't react to really fast movements, just to slow moves
(I was in Hungary at a yumeiho massage, they know really a lot about human anatomy, I will tell you her opinion next time
)

Hip popping is a common thing, especially for beginning players. I think it stems from the inflamation of tendons in your hip that aren't used to being used so much. That inflammation causes the tendons to catch on bones/joints/other tendons that it never used to.
If it's not painful, it's probably not a big deal. Stretch a lot and make sure you let your hips rest between sessions.
If it hurts, that's bad. Stretch, ice, and rest. All 3 are very important to do!
I've had both scenarios happen to me in my footbag experience and it's a pain (no pun intended), but by taking care of myself I haven't had any problems with my hips for a couple of years now.

No, I don't play soccer. Yes, there are competitions. 4 years. Lots of practice.

My flip pixie and strong fairy makes my hips pop. It doesn't hurt, but there is usually a time where my knees feel a little strain from the dexterity. Like Ben said, stretching is key, R&R is key.
