I'll start off with the manga i have, i bought most of these when i was 13 or 14:

Love Hina #1-14(I have the entire animate series too)
A.I. Love you #1-4

American stuff:
1st issue of the second series of the Man-Thing(1979), says it was 40 cents on the cover.

I'm a pretty big fan of Iron man but i only have like 10 comics:
1st issue of "Heroes Return- Invincible Iron Man" 1998
Last issue of "Marvel Team-up"
1st &2nd issue of Iron Man 1996, when hes got that kick-ass Prometheum armor(signed by the cover artist)


other than that i have a couple other Marvel comics that i dont think need to be posted.

I have recently acquired:
-Ultimate Iron Man #1-3. Can't find anymore, think theres only 5 though.(amazing so far)
-#4,4(variant cover),5,6,7,8,9,11 of Iron man Vol.2. Can't seem to find #3 or 10, love this series but I've noticed that the characters sometimes aren't well proportioned.
-Web of the Scarlet Spider #1
-Reprint of Tales of Suspense #39 (where tony stark become Iron man)

So does anyone know much about Xmen:Age of Apocalypse? Cause I'm confused as to if there is an actual series of AoA. When i was researching it there are 33 issues i found, but the problem is it starts with X-men:Alpha and theres only one issue in that series, then there's: Amazing xmen, Astonishing xmen, factor x, Gambit and the xternals, and stuff like that that arent actually named Xmen:AoA, but they tie into the story line.

Yeah, I have most of them.
There are 4 books for each title, drawn by a different artist.
Then there is X-men Alpha, which opens the story (all 4 issues of each title happen simulatneously, basically), and X-Men Omega which concludes it all. I was thinking of getting the collections, but I don't like most of the artists. Joe Madureira's X-Men is wicked, of course (he's my favourite artist!), Steve Skroce's X-Man (I think he did X-Man? Maybe not..maybe just after AoA, when he got his own title). I don't have alpha, but Roger Cruz did Omega, in his Joe Mad ripoff style, so I like that one too. And the stories are kinda cool -- Weapon X is cool, obviously. My memory of Wolverine in AoA is really grungy and feral. He's missing a hand!

Oh, The Generation Next was really cool too, by Chris Bachelo (whom I also quite like, though his style was quite different back then).They really did some awesome stuff with the Generation X kids there


Actually, yeah, AoA was really cool. It was all about Blink and Morph!

yeah, theres this comic book store that sells back issues 6 for $5(and theyre in plastic sleeves with carboard!). They also have a corner of complete sets, which is where I saw a few Xmen:AoA sets.

Sleeves & cardboard is pretty standard for most shops. If you're not into buying all the individual book$ you can collect the 4 trade paperbacks (multiple issues combined into one big book) or see if you can find anyone seeding the series as a torrent. They can be in .pdf (need acrobat reader) or .cbr or .cbz files in which case you'll need to install CDisplay or another compatible progam to view the files.

I recently downloaded Frank Millers' 300, V for Vendetta and even a handfull of drawing tutorials. Pretty cool.

One Christmas I asked for a whole bunch of carboard backings and sleeves -- like 200+ of each. Then shortly after I stopped reading monthly comics and now I have a bunch sitting, unopened, that I have no use for The cardboard backings take up a lot of room.. I think I may have always used the wrong side too... there was like some special anti-acidic side, or something... I just used the side that lookde prettier.



I've been reading Masamune Shirow's Orion as bathroom material. It's my favourite of his books -- so good. I don't have anything at the moment that I am really excited about, although I am excited to read Akira again -- man is that good! It's so daunting, though. I will get hooked into the 1200+ pages if I start. I also want to finish Batman Dark Victory some time, and read some more of Essential X-Men #2.

I haven't bought books for along time, and I feel proud for not spending money I guess the majority of my money is going to footbag lately.



EDIT: I spoke too soon.
I'm bored at work and got a notice email from Amazon saying that I could preorder Gunsmith Cats Burst #2. I ended up JUST ordering a handful of books:

I've been reading and a bunch of sappy romance comics because I'm a sucker for that stuff.

I doubt anyone else is interested since it's a sausage fest in here filled with tastes for dark humour and samurais, but Mars by Fuyumi Soryo is SOOOOO good! I just cry cry cry. I recently read all 15 volumes again for my first time since I was 16. It's still fantastically sappy! <3

Maybe it'd be up Marita's alley. Judging by your wall of hearts, maybe you'd like it too Erik.

I never read comics. But I just recentlyinvested a few dollars into the Marvel comics series of Stephen King's Dark Tower Series. I have read all the books multiple times and find it is the best story in the universe.

I'm really getting into the work of Marko Djurdjevic. I can see why he's Zac's favorite artist at the moment. His characters look dynamic, but not exaggerated to the point where they are too cartoony. They're believable, but not to the point where they're too realistic, stiff and posed (like Alex Ross). Love the the angles he uses on his designs too. Like the image below, it just looks like they they're all going to tumble off the page.





BTW, has anyone watched these animated films?
Ultimate Avengers - I love how all the characters have some kind of personal problem that effects the group some how. Last fight was pretty cool
Batman Gotham Knight - Kevin Conroy's bat-voice > Bale's
Superman Doomsday - what was with Supes' face
Hulk vs.Thor - ok
Hulk vs. Wolverine - I thought Deadpool stole the show


Back to comics, Hulk Gray had to be one the most entertaining reads of all time. In the first half of issue #5, Sale and Loeb give Hulk more depth and personality than the dozens of books I've read previously on the character. I really like their take on the Hulk visually. Stocky, powerful build vs the 12 foot tall body builder frame I see sometimes

Something completely differnet is Cheech Wizard by Vaugh Bode.
A great comic with a really strange mainperson and some really funny small stories.

I haven't read those, but I've heard of them.

I think I will have to check out Hulk Gray now too. I like Tim Sale a bunch. I wasn't suuuper thrilled with his and Loeb's Batman books... can you tell me how different the Hulk book is? Also, have you read their Catwoman book? Is it any good? (And Superman for All Seasons)

I think some of the best books I've read were "Akira" by Katsuhiro Otomo, and "Lone Wolf and Cub" (though I never finished it) by Kazuo Koike and Goseki Kojima. Both recommended to me by Mike Faille (http://www.mikefaille.com)

The giant Bone book is.... ALL OF BONE. It's 1300~ pages (and only cost, like, $30 CAN! -- cover price is $50 USA). Before he started colouring, though. Though, those smaller coloured volumes I have in my school library (I'm a librarian) and the binding is terrible, so that the pages all fll out over not too long a time.

The only thing about giant books is the weight and inconvenience. For instance, Blankets was pretty big, and I was reading it on the go (it ocuiped my entire bag). When I first got the giant Bone book, I dropped it because it was so heavy (and the cover got all bent up), and my Complete Calvin and Hobbes hardcover books each weigh, like, literally 7 pounds each (there are 3 books), so... I've barely touched them (they're also hard to get out of their box-set box).

I am going to start my first graphic novel next week: Watchmen by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons. It's on the top 100 novel list of TIME magazine, which I found impressive, because it's the only graphic novel on the list.
Perhaps I'm not into comics, because I've never read any....I'm very excited though

I didn't like the drawings in Watchmen which always made it difficult for me to get into the story until, like, halfway through (though the story IS great). But Kingdom Come is another really highly-acclaimed book where the art and story are equally touching. It's hard to find really good books, because 80% of them are terrible like in movies and books and every other art form I wouldn't recommend most of the books I have to a first-timer (unless they're also in it for the pretty pictures).

Neil Gaiman's "Sandman" is another really highly-acclaimed book that I would recommend. I haven't read much of it because it's all random artists, and most I don't like. But I wouldn't be surprised if Neil Gaiman is on that top 100 list, or Sandman even for that matter.

Just got done reading Brandon Graham's "King City".


I really enjoyed it. Alot of fun little details where you can sense that he is having so much fun doing comics. Also intertextuality works so well in comics.
