mf doom is good stuff. i'm a fan of ADM and Adverse, Juice. i'm glad to see josh martinez getting an honourable mention. Birdapres (pronounced Bird of prey) is cool, but looks like he has downs syndrome. Grubs, Grimes, Trojan are all good, but you'll be pretty hard pressed to find anything of theirs. If you're looking for beats check Pete Samples, but he's recently gone down tempo and away from hip hop. catch him live and it's a different story though. Old John Smith was good before he went all attack rap, but he sells more records now because you don't have to be from the north end of winnipeg to really get the lyrics. i love Pip Skid (the artist formerly know as Pat Skeen The Wicked Nut Rhyme Machine) his last album was great. Gruf The Druid is good, and he does alot of cool spoken word stuff. Draft Dodgers, Turn The Gun, Sound Barriers are all really really solid. trying to think of other stuff i may not have mentioned... i'll be back with more...

I typed that exact same thing when I was going to reply to this thread, but then I didn't.Skeletor wrote: lyrics born (or anyone from the quannum crew really,)
I don't really want to get into another nomenclature argument, but I really disagree with the usage of the word "undeground," in most circumstances. As in, that's just not what undeground means. Maybe "not as popular" would work better (because pretty much every artist already listed in here actually is really popular).
I like pretty much everyone from the Quannum/Solesides crew (eXpecially DJ Shadow, and Blackalicious), I like the Beatnuts, I sorta like Dan the Automator, I like Little Brother, I like Supastition, K-Otix, Strange Fruit Project, all that shit, Ghostface Killah, everything that was on the Art of One Mind Project, I like 9th Wonder, I like Mos Def/Talib Kweli/Black Star, I like Buckshot, Lunar Heights, Crown City Rockers, GANG STARR, I like Diverse, Lyrics Born, I kinda like RJD2, but he's pretty played out, I love the Coup, I love Eric B & Rakim, I love Hi-Tek, Public Enemy, Big L, Common... Masta Ace is pretty good, Trife, the Roots, A Tribe Called Quest, J5, KRS-One, Cesar Comanche, Cunninlynguists, Lauryn Hill, THETHYRDAY, MF Doom is aight, he doesn't really have any flow at all, Stezo, Akinyele, ...Uh, I'm just gonna stop now.

This topic just got played out once Stephen stepped in the ring with his irritating opinions on hip hop, all making it less enjoyable to discuss and all. RJD2 played out?? Listen to some of his less known shit. Just because Ghostwriter was in a fucking commercial doesn't mean that his music isn't fantastic. If you don't want to get into a damn nomenclature argument, comment on the music not the genre -- just don't even bother going there!
I have to agree, lyrics born did a fucking pepsi commercial I believe and his music is phenomenal.Just because Ghostwriter was in a fucking commercial doesn't mean that his music isn't fantastic
I saw the entire quannum crew when they did their world tour. LB stole the show with the lifesava's. Anyone who hasnt heard of the lifesava's should dl.
