New Slang

Post by Senor Grommet » 19 Apr 2003 22:30

Has anyone else heard of the following slang terminology that has been propagating the mouths of Santa Barbara Californians recently?

Flood: (with synonyms- cool, good) -a fortunate circumstance, from which one seemingly benefits

Drought: (with synonyms- bad, whack, unfortunate) - an unfortunate circumstance, usually entailing one or more people receiving the "short end of the stick," suffering seemingly injustly.

usage examples:

Aww man, is was f-ckin' drought when that bird shit on your new hat yesterday!

or

That new footbag trick you landed last session was so flood!

Anyone else heard of this? Is it in your area as well? Is is cool enough to spread?

Yeah, Holden Caufield (sp?) uses 'bunk' to mean bad, so I assume it was common slang at the time that Catcher in the rye was written (the fifties, if I am not mistaken). I'm down with flood, and anyone who isn't is powerful drought.
