I like chevy chase and john candy. Along with chevy a lot of other saturday night live people got famous, I really liked that era's cast a lot, and for the next years to come were good until the mid 90s..

All I have to say is Tranes, Planes, & Automobiles with steve martin, john candy, great movie or best movie ever?

that is a pretty good movie. if i was steve martin's character in that movie i would have killed john candy's character like halfway through the trip.

and it's actually Planes, Trains and Automobiles, not that it really matters.

and it made me realize i like john candy a lot (canadian bacon, anyone?) and i realize we're not talking totally stand up anymore, but a comedian is a comedian.

"Fuck comedians, let's keep it going for people who are just funny at parties. You know what, fuck that. Let's keep it goin' for people at parties, who say stuff, that you know, isn't funny, but you laugh just to make them feel like, they're not an idiot... Then when they walk away, you're like, "What a fuckin' idiot..." Let's keep it goin' for them."

Sorry, the change over from stand up comedians to just plain funny actors and what not inspired me to quote Dane Cook.

I like John Candy a lot. Its hard not to when you grow up watching Uncle Buck, Canadian Bacon, Stripes, Cool Runnings, Whos Harry Crumb, Spaceballs, Armed and Dangerous, Volunteers. Sorry to name so many but these are MUST SEE films.

edit: also brewsters millions and blue brothers. I like those too.

Comedy is one of those things that people get real touchy over. It's either a Love or Hate thing.

Mitch Hedberg kills me every time, Eddie Murphy is classic.. I really don't have a lot to add that hasn't been said, but to be honest I haven't heard that much funny stand-up in english.

It's a Quebec thing (not French, I think French comics are horrible *NOTLOL*)

Im surprised no one had mentioned Aziz Ansari...he just did a comedy central special and it was so funny his delivery was so good. Other comics I will always love are

Mitch Hedberg
Dave Chapelle
Jim Carrey
Daniel Tosh
George Carlin
Nick Swardson
Pat McGurran

Current comedians: Ricky Gervais for sure. He's the guy who wrote and starred in "The Office"... Cue incredulous looks from americans :)

Some classics from decades past have been cited many times here already.

I have another question: who are your favorite female comedians, if any?

I've yet to be able name one that has me in stiches. And no, Sarah Silverman is not funny (imo of course).

Not to be a sexist or anything, but most female comedians suck in my opinion. They don't talk about anything i can relate to. It's always why guys are stupid/annoying, some bs about their periods and eating ben and jerry ice cream, diets, and getting pissed about guys hitting on them. There was this one big lady from the south that was an exception, but she just talked about being fat and eating food mostly. I'm sure there are other exceptions, but none that I really know about.

Anyway.. Favorite comedian? I can't really pick just one.

George Carlin
Gallahger
Eddie Izzard
Sinbad
Mitch Hedberg
Stephen Lynch
Sam Kinison

Dave Foley
Bruce McCulloch
Kevin McDonald
Mark McKinney
Scott Thompson

Aziz is very original and funny. The show he had, Human Giant, was good. I saw him do stand up live about 2 years ago and it was bad, I thought maybe he just better at sketch comedy. But i saw his new stand up on tv a few days ago and it was hillarious.

gallagher is probably my favorite. or dave chapelle.
Wow you are crazy. George Carlin is one of the best. I agree with you on Chapelle. Everyone reading this needs to look up Jake Johansen. Very good stuff. Dane sucks, Menica Sucks. I think Sara Silverman is underated.

Edit: Bernie Mac has never been funny. Zach Galafinakis has his moments. He's great in Due Date lol
