Footbag player can you juggle??

Post by bake » 01 Dec 2002 11:59

I am curious how many of you can juggle 3 balls? Clubs? 5 balls?

I noticed that at the Seattle Juggling and Footbag Festival that all the footbaggers could juggle. It was good to have a event like that. I am trying to get a article in juggle magazine about footbag.

I guess I'm an intermediate juggler. I can do mills mess and the like...alot of other stuff I make up I do too. I can do some 4 ball but no tricks.

Juggling is great, I keep 3 juggling balls with me most of the time, but I still suck at it.

I can do cascade, reverse cascade, and some other little stuff.
A guy I kick with sometimes is really good, like he does tennis & mill's mess and all that crap.
i like to kick the little footbag thing around and move my legs around it and stuff

Have you tryed clubs

Post by bake » 02 Dec 2002 10:36

Clubs are pretty easy to learn if you feel comfortable juggling 3 balls. They are easier to catch and have totally different tricks.

Aren't Clubs like über expensive though? I was thinking of picking up a set to learn with.

I don't know how they compare to the proper clubs, but I made a set out of dowl inserted into the necks of 1.25L coke bottles. Then used electrical tape to balance them. I figured that it's a cheaper way to start learning clubs.
Check out http://www.juggling.org/ for more information about juggling.
I pulled this url from footbag worldwide before the Links page was dumped.

I can do chop, columns, penguin, reachover....and some more I don't know the names of. However, I'm not very good at juggling. You should see Jakob Wagner, Fabian Kollakowski or Marc Inzinger! These guys are freaking good! Not as good as Paul Mestas or Pete Irish, but still way better than many jugglers I've seen befoe.

Juggling!

Post by bake » 02 Dec 2002 16:28

Good clubs will run you $100-120 you can get some decent ones for about $80 and some begginer ones for anywhere between $15-40. It is fun to pass clubs if you learn you can do tons of different patterns with any number of people. The best 3 ball juggler in the world is Bill Berry and Tim Kelly. Paul Mestas and Pete don't got much on those guys.

So Sam what does guiltless at juggling mean? My signature is so long to make up for your short memory! Considering I had met you 3 times and kicked with you a bunch , and this year at worlds you still had no clue who I was. Probably still don't. Peace

Wow! Is that proven true? I mean, are there something like world rankings? I almost can't believe Pete is top level in both footbag and juggling. Not to diss him, I mean he's an awesome shredder, juggler, and person (as I've been told), but I can't imagine that there aren't people who are solely dedicated to juggling and therefore better than someone spending his time on two main activities....

There are thousands of proffesional jugglers who all they do is juggle. They also put far more time into juggling then anyone does into footbag. Bill Berry is the two time defending IJA gold medalist. IJA is the worlds of juggling. They don't formally have a world ranking system but they do have the three ball championship. Which Tim won when he whent. Pete is a great 3 ball juggler with a sweet style but comparitivly to Tim or Bill he has a ways to go. Pete would agree with me. But you got to think Pete is one of the best in the world at footbag. It is all about what you put your energy towards.

I would venture to say that Pete is the best 3 ball juggler while also juggling three footbags on the feet at the same time. I just about hurled when I saw this the first time.

Kenny, Yeah Petes 3 and 3 are pretty sick. All that stuff he does with his feet with three balls is sick. I think he can win IJA next year if goes in Reno. With all that revolutionary stuff he is doing he is one of the better 3 ball jugglers in the world because he is doing stuff noone is doing. 8O I just think it is great seeing footbag players crossing over to juggling.

We are trying to bridge the gap between juggling and footbag that is why we had the Seattle festival. The jugglers were all in to footbag stopping and watching virtually all of the competitions. Some of them even competed. Look for a article on footbag in Juggle magazine coming up in the next few months.

Peace Matt
