SCHEDULE FOR NOVEMBER and Announcements

Post by Posi-Cole » 09 Nov 2004 20:00

First off, some announcements.

Since people have been complaining a lot about the skill in various levels, and using their previous knowledge of what a 'novice', 'intermediate' or 'open' player should be. The divisions will now be renamed to Division 1, Division 2 and Division 3. All the other threads will soon reflect this change.

Hopefully this removes some bias, and people merely judge them based on whether or not they are close in skill to each other, rather than what they expect of a 'novice, or an 'intermediate', etc.

Also a new rule in place - If someone wins 2 competitions in a row in a division with at least 30% of the votes, they get promoted to the next highest division for the next competition.

If someone wins 1 competition with at least 80% of the vote they must also move up to the next division for the next competition.

Also, for those who may not have seen it in the "Tips for Creating your video thread", a new rule has been added:

"To make it easier for people to find and view the videos, please name all your videos in this consistent format: FirstNameLastName-Division#-Competition#. For example, my video for the 2nd Division 2 competition would be called ColeHobson-Division2-Comp. 2."

These rules are in place to attempt to make closer votes and more even competitions. If you have any ideas for more, please feel free to let me know.

Here is the schedule of upcoming events for November. This is SUBJECT TO CHANGE, so please check back to make sure you've got the proper dates. All times listed are EASTERN.

1st Division 3 competition over on Thursday, November 11th.

2nd Division 3 AND Division 4 competition videos due Wednesday, November 17th at 11:30 am

2nd Division 2 competition videos due Sunday, November 21st at 10:00 am.

2nd Division 1 competition videos due Thursday, November 25th at 11:30 am.

The reasoning for having Division 3 have their competition first after being the group to most recently finish a competition is so if someone sends in a video for Division 3 that is of Division 2 standard, they can be moved up and not miss a competition.

All competitions will run for approximately 5 days, as this seems to be when most votes have been registered.
