New Default Theme

Post by Allan » 23 Jun 2014 22:50

New theme. It's based on Bootstrap. It's really quite mobile-friendly. It's a work in progress. I found the start of it on github and have modified (hehe) it extensively to suit.

Over 25% of the people viewing the forum are on a mobile browser of some sort. It was time to make a switch.

There are still a few bugs. Props don't quite work just yet, and badges are coming too (next 24-48). But it was close enough that I wanted to go ahead and push it live so it would motivate me to get things in better shape, faster. Launch early; iterate often.

Thoughts?

If you liked things how they were, you'll be able to switch back to 'prosilver' at some point soon.

How do I tell if there is any unread posts in a subforum?

Also it is really hard to see the line between signature and post and in other places on both the screens I have tried on.

I can search a topic but I can't find out how to do a general search.

Zoiks! The icons aren't showing. I'll fix this. In the meantime, you can view unread posts

I was a bit torn on this. I think the line almost shouldn't be there; there wasn't one in the base theme that I'm modding... I'll do something to make it stick out more, for sure.

In the upper-right, there's a new "Views" menu which has that function (or click the link above). Given that this is likely the most important page on the forum for a lot of people, I'll look at exploding this one out into its own button again.

This will come back soon.

Thanks for the feedback folks :) Like I said, this is a work in progress, but I know it'll be worth it in the long run.

Nobody seems to hate it so far ...

It doesn't tell you which subforum each topic is in when you click 'view unread'.

Starting to look pretty good. Nice job!

Can I have a "Mark All Posts Read" button on the frontpage?

For about a day there, I had a button-style link for the status icon (unread, all read, etc), but I thought it was really heavy-handed, so I've stripped it back and have a more subtle color change.

Search is back.

I've added a menu bar at the top with the appropriate functions.

I still need to add the subforum listing back to the unread screen.

Propee listing is still fucked.

Badge integration is coming ...
