Same side/foot

Post by Jeremy » 23 Jul 2003 22:10

Look this may seem like a silly question but if I were to say from a right foot/left side clipper I hit a same osis which foot would the footbag now be on? There are no wrong answers for this, because some people are talking about same side and others are talking about same foot. But I think it's important to have a consensus.

oh man i brought up this on the flipsider thing a while back and the kid i was talking to couldn't understand what i was talking about. i should have made combo like you did. this is why i never use the word "same" without either saying side or leg.

If you were to hit a 'Right' foot clipper, the 'Same Osis' would be hit with the right foot, with a kind of half in-spin to complete the Osis.
The term 'Same-Side' relates to the foot, and not the body side.
At least, that's my understanding of same-side tricks.

EDIT: And I don't know if your Poll options make sence. Under the influence, and all that, but I'm sure your first option tends toward a same clipper, not a same osis.

EDIT 2: No, wait! Now I get you.

*yawn*

Osis is a spinning clipper, back or front spin, it's still an osis. So the whole 'far' thing is kinda pointless.

Here are the classic Jobs':
SET > (back or front) SPIN [BOD] > SAME or OP CLIP [XBD] [DEL]

The 'far' concept is really only useful in explaining dex moves that are not paradox, such as Reverse Whirl (Glorified Butterfly) and Reverse Blender. Still, to me, far means nothing, since it doesn't really add anything to a move. I'm not sure where it came from, but imo, far came from some kid that wanted his moves to sound cooler than they were.

note: try your best not to aruge. ;)

I think far legover and pickup are very useful uses of the term.

Yes, it would be right back where it started. But Tobias, you said something wrong. "Same side" has nothing to do with the foot.

The term same is derived directly from jobs, inferring same FOOT only. Same side is generally best used to denote a difference in set, say tapping. You should not say same side osis, just clip> op osis. Most sets naturally go to the other side, same side switches that, but same, such as clip same osis, should be only reffering to foot.

Sorry if that was confusing, I went back to insert something only to find insert off halfway through the sentence, which made me rewrite part of it.

I think this whole far and ss thing sounds alot like the difference between gyro and spinning. You could just say spinning same-side or spinning opp-side, but you find ppl saying gyro.

i like to say far instead of opp side,
i think my moves are cooler than they sound,
Pixie butterfly, sounds pretty lame.

:?: is my left side inside my right foot or my left foot.

like I said, you shouldn't say side, just foot, and leave same side for sets. But as you are speaking non x body, that still remains your left foot.
