Worlds accommodation?
Worlds accommodation?
Hello Modified. I'll go on Worlds this year and I'm wondering where will I live and sleep. I know that it will be a cheap (5E/night) accommodation in classrooms but I need something else because, hey, nine nights on the floor? No waaay
. And here is my question. Do you know any not much more expensive alternative such youth hostels or something? If yes, please tell me how much it costs, how many people will be in one room, how far from the centrum of the city it is and the main thing - how can I make a reservation? Thanks everybody for your help.

accomodation:
We are offering several accommodation options to suit the range of budgets people will have (ranging from very cheap accommodations all the way to nice hotels).
For the players who look for a cheap accommodation we are offering rooms of 6 to 10 people in the school Ernst- Reuter- Schule. The price for one person per night will be around 5 Euros.
You will need to bring sleeping bags and a sleeping pad with you to stay there. Most of the players will stay here. We are currently trying to offer everybody who is staying there sleeping pads or anything like it.
For those of you who like to stay in more comfortable hotels, please take a look at the hotel reservation form.
Another option is camping at the City Camp Frankfurt
http://www.city-camp-frankfurt.de/
I am afraid but the 2000 places of the youth hostels are all full for whole 2 month (!) booked by the witnesses of Jehova. lol. they have some kind of annual meeting at the same time like worlds in frankfurt.
Furthermore we like to point out, that as long as you're staying in the centre of Frankfurt you won't be far from the event location. The public transport system is very good and can take you everywhere within the city very quickly.

just a few questions about the school rooms:
How far is the school from the event sites?
Are the school rooms available to non-footbaggers? Is it possible that 1 of the rooms can be filled with 5 footbaggers and 5 non-footbaggers?
How do we store our belongings?
Is it mandatory to bring sleeping pads/bags?
Will we be sleeping in the same school room for all days of the event?
Will we be able to choose which room we sleep in?

Hello, my name is Iain George.
Hi Iain,
I'll try to answer to some questions.
U1 -> Dornbusch - The station is at the main event site, don't know how long to walk tho, not far. Totalling the time of travel results in ca. 13mins
Afaik every Player will receive a week ticket for public transport in whole Frankfurt.
I'll try to answer to some questions.
U1 -> Nordwestzentrum - This is the station that's closest to the school. probably 7 mins by foot. The Nordwestzentrum is something like a mall with lots of stores and supermarkets (e.g. on the way to school you're passing one).Iain wrote:How far is the school from the event sites?

On the Worlds website it says that the accomodation in the school will cost around 5 Euro for a night. And in the registration form it says, that the accomodation in the school will be 50 euros together.
So what's the deal?

hi,
as long as you are only two, you can probably just stay for one night at a private place of one of our members.
Or you check the youth hostel:

The costs per night per person will be 5 Euros per night. If you are staying for the full 8 nights it costs 40 Euros.
Travelling time from the school to the main event site is 15 - 20 min.
Looking forward to welcome you all,

I checked the locations from some map service I found from the internet, there's 5-8 km distance between these two places? The transport is by subway/underground right?Philipp wrote:Travelling time from the school to the main event site is 15 - 20 min.
I'd like to ask about the youth hostel. Do you think there'll still be rooms available for the night between 23. and 24. if one doesn't book them until during the Worlds? I mean, I was asking the other shredders who are going with me and they thought the accommodation for the last night could be taken care of there. I'd just like to know if it's safe to do it this way, id est not booking the room(s) in advance and then possibly find out that there's a holiday season in the city and no rooms available.
Sorry for troubling you again.
Looking forward to be there!Philipp wrote:Looking forward to welcome you all,
