GRASS 2010 - Jam Style - April 16th-18th, 2010
GRASS 2010 - Jam Style - April 16th-18th, 2010
Hi East Coasters!!
The 33rd annual RIT Spring Juggle-In is coming up in April, from the 16th to the 18th.
We will be holding a few casual events like sick 3, Rippin Run, and maybe Circle - whatever time and space permits - but the main focus of the weekend will just be to get together and enjoy shred while we promote it to the greater juggling community.
We'll shred all afternoon Friday, party together at night, shred and compete the next day, go to the world-class juggling show, party more, and haul ourselves out of bed on Sunday for cool down kicking.
GRASS is a great chance to meet regional footbaggers, expose new potential players to the game, and expand your own juggling / acrobatic horizons. This will be our 6th consecutive year, and the RFA invites you and all your friends to take part.
Crash space is limited (if only Will and I host, there's room for 6 or 7), but there is a host hotel that borders RIT (extremely close to the venue).
The Juggle-In web site is http://www.rit.edu/sg/jugglingclub/jugglein/
They have not as of yet listed the host hotel for this year, but they've always had it in the past, so I'm sure they'll be listing that in the coming months.
Please consider donating a bag for prizes / raffle!

I'll give you any kind of feel you want, Mr Riefer...

The past two years, Jorden Moir has performed at the big juggling show and shredded with us all weekend. Gordon Bevier has been a GRASS regular as well. Peter Irish and David Clavens have also performed at the juggling show and been in attendance.
The thing is, I doubt any of those four will make it this year but I wouldn't be surprised if we had a showing from Montreal (I know Mat G won't be flying to any tournaments, so maybe he'll drive to this one), Toronto, Kingston, Erie, as well as some regional players from the Capital region, Western NY, maybe some other Pennsylvanians... if we're lucky, Waylon and the other NYC folks will make it up.
As for the jugglers, they will far, far, far outnumber footbaggers. This event has been running for 33 years, and it's a significant East Coast juggling event. The talent in the show is ABSOLUTELY world class. I encourage you to poke around the web site I posted above - maybe click the archives link on the side and take a look at last year's schedule and show info. That may give you a sense of the awesomeness of the overall scene that we're a part of. I really encourage you to come up. It would be great to see you again.
high five!

I requested off the weekend from work, and i got a car for the drive, i really hope that some of my friends tag along, i believe that i will come up saturday and make it there about noon (hopefully thats not too early for the partiers to be functioning). There is a 97.99879% chance that i will be there

I'm interested, and maybe a newbie footbagger in NYFA if her schedule doesn't compromise travel. My only concern is getting a ride up to Rochester, and that would be a grueling... 7 hour drive? Yikes.
We'll see once the date for this event draws ever closer by.

"Footbag can be pretty frustrating when it's supposed to be fun. I was partly driven by this forum - practice, practice, practice... As that is true, I think someone can be too focused on progressing and training that they miss the fun aspect of it." - Bander87
