two sayings come to mind:
any press is good press.
beggars can't be choosers.
no sense in feeling angry @ lopez. he's catering to the common denominator. and while he references classic hacky sack stereotypes, anybody who actually sees vasek perform knows that there is a difference in dedication & skill, even if they can't understand what that difference is.
i think it's a positive mentality to embrace the term hacky sack & all the jokes / derisiveness that come with it, as opposed to the outright rejection that many players give due to negative stigma. instead of using words to express "it's called footbag, not hacky sack", use your feet & ppl will gain a stronger understanding on their own that there is a real difference between circle kicking & shred.
there has not been much light shed in the media about the party / community scene, which is a huge part of footbag. in the future i could see this being a gateway to shedding some more of that tired, old hippy slacker image.
i liked the show, as it was kind of a conflict of the progression of footbag, and the common age old stereotypes. the more people see that the sport is changing & growing, the less power those stereotypes will hold. in time, they will disappear ( so long as they don't continue to be true

).
