Triple around the world with a shuttle cock

Post by hacksterbator » 26 Aug 2008 13:52

don't know if it's been seen before, but triple around the world with a shuttle cock as well as other freestyle tricks, both leggy and hippy style dexes. it's towards the end, but one girl just rips them off super easy.

I think if the chinese take footbag seriously, they will produce the best footbagger in the world. Footbag is about accuracy, speed, timing etc, fits asian well :D.

Perhaps next year I'll go to China for vacation, but I'll surely be there in 2010 because of my studies.
Maybe I can find some of these guys and show them footbag =)

China is the bomb...
...but how do we get it to explode?
I mean how do we get these guys to play footbag instead of what they do now?

A. I'm duely impressed. I can personally barely do datw. If these people have never seen footbag freestyle (which I asume they haven't) then it's amazing something like this could develope in parallel.
B. It probably doesn't reflect well on my maturity level that I have to fight back a giggle every time I say "shuttlecock"

I believe Shuttle-cock has been around for 100s of years, so I would say that footbag developed AFTERWARD. But I could be mistaken.

Isn't this kind of like when a soccer player says "Okay, but can you do it with a real ball"?

Amazing video though.

The Chinese are good at shuttlecock, but the Vietnamese are the World Champions these days. I played with the best Vietnamese shuttlecock players in Siagon while I was there and they are insane. Even 60+year old guys were busting super moves. Everywhere in Vietnam you see circles of little kids in bare feet keeping a shuttlecock up for long periods of time. It was normal to see a little girl, probably 6-8 years old, kicking a shuttlecock 10-15 kicks both feet no problem in bare feet. It's everywhere there.

No it's not. At least I didn't mean it like that even though I knew somebody was gonna flame me for that comment. It was more of a question how to promote footbag in China.

Heh, no flaming here, I just thought that was a comparable statement.

I watched the video again, I love that hippy fairy set. I just had a session and did a bunch. Try it!!

Hilarious post

I tried stalling Mosher's shuttlecock once at WEMF and promptly decided it was impossible ;o

Watching them talented gals hit Triples is inspiring and it got me thinking. First off has any girl ever hit triple? Tina I think... Then I realized that the gravity acted on the cock is less. Therefor a possible greater time-frame to bust huge dreamy tricks.

I see what Johnny is saying with the "real ball" concept. I play footbag and not soccer because of the wider spectrum of tricks that the size of the bag allows. Imagine a lighter footbag with feathers or some material that allows for a longer flight. A whole new world.

Maybe we could learn something from their game instead of prying footbag on them.
First think about how to practice or don't bother practicing.

Sorry to be knit-picky, but at a given elevation the acceleration of gravity acting on anything, elephant to ant, will be exactly the same. What the shuttlecock has is greater air resistance. I don't think that plays much of a role in this case though, that woman just had amazingly tight dexs. Also notice she's wearing what look like ballet shoes.

I think the difference here is pretty obvious. Kimbe was not trying to tell they play an under sport or anything. Just he'd like them to know about our sport because I'm sure more than 95% of shuttlecock players don't know about footbag which could lead to more footbaggers and a possible explosion of footbag.

Totally different than telling can you do this with a soccer ball.
