Do the leather lavers play good unmodded?

yeah crazy dwarf, those were the lavers I thought Hood had too. Just black instead of brown

After I mod the leather, the material will be white, right. Could I go over
it with a black sharpie to match the rest of the shoe? Or hould I dy the material?

I am going to buy lavers soon. I am not sure which ones to buy. I know that mesh lavers are more common, but I really like those black silver leather lavers that Hood has.
