Luke's footblog thing.

Post by luke10986 »

hey. im luke, living in North Carolina. 18 years old, attending UNC Chapel Hill in the fall. i've been playing footbag casually ever since i met david Wilder in...2001. i'm getting more serious about it these days, and have decided, due partly to davids influence, to start posting on modified. so yeah thats about it.

Yeah! Haha let your next post be the explanation of alien shred!

Hey guys Luke's working on becoming tiltless and stuff. He's about my level as far as ability, but he'll surpass me pretty soon I think.

Glad you decided to make a blog Luke!

Oh, Luke... it's forum policy to put your full name in your signature... go to profile at the top and then put it in. You can even link to your footblog through your name, like me, if you want.

Ever since I found modified and started posting, I've been taking footbag more seriously. I'm glad you have someone to kick with, cause I know if I wouldn't have had people to kick with, I prolly wouldn't be playing today. So let's hear what you've been gettin into, freestyle-wise.

so i was laying in bed being the usual lameass i am, watching kung fu movies, when i realized kung fu kind of resembles footbag, or the reverse i suppose. unless footbag was played by the ancient chinese before they started kung fu, which would be fairly amusing. anyway, i was inspired and tried to hit double around the world. something i've been working on since the weekend. didn't make progress, but hit pixie legover a couple times which i've also been trying to get more consistent with. after about five minutes i quit because the rash covering my body started itching due to sweat.

and thanks for all the welcomes!

How IS that rash by the way? Maybe it's caused because of your new zipper. I can always get Zetoid to try and reinstall you a better one, carbon fiber...

Sam's movie is totally kung fu. I can't wait till it comes out!

yeah the rash is eating away at my body. actually, it sjust staying as is but i look like a pale kid who jsut got cold/aroused. if tht makes a proper image for you.

btw i footed paste like 8 times today. and hit pixie legover a few. all the while during a 10 minutue shred in my living room.

Dude, won't the rash clear up when you get off the meds for your neck? You will hit paste sometime soon! I'd suggest schooling pickups, for help with paste. You've got a decent pixie set, you just can't do pickups very easily. So I'd say get those a little stronger first. PLO is fun and seems like a "gliding-into" move.

Shred soon?

so i lost my footbag. my only one ever, i keep losing it. last time i lost it i found it 6 months later. hopefully that won't be the case, or i'll have to get a new one.

so a good story that i felt like posting about, david asked me to in a post he made earlier.

about 4 years ago, David and I and some friends decided to have a "shred". in those days, it was us kicking around and david hitting shit like mirage and everyone freaking out because, well, he was to us amazing. i mean he is. so anyway we get to the place to shred and were going to film it all, with this dramatic shot of davids foot hitting the ground and then him going into a string. well, he hit mirage and then dropped and we were too lazy to try and get it on a second, third, etc. take. so that was the extent of the video, minus some additional footage of other people trying to break their consecutive records. anyway, point of the story is david thought it would be real cool to call it "Alien Shred 2001". what the fuck.

fast forward r4 years. david and i were watching Sick 03 and he was like "haha remember when we had that shred!? it was called alien shred, what a stupid name! what idiot came up with that?" and i looked at him and said "yeah you did." silence. then after about 10 seconds, plenty of laughter.

good times. we call everything alien shred now. its kind of a running joke that has grown in size- just look at davids posts now, you'll see the crop circle.

Haha, alien shred. Oh man. Yeah that's why we're the NC Aliens now. Man that sucks that you lost your bag. Anyways, this weekend we should have a shred and party.

Btw, I hit TWO moves and then dropped at Alien Shred 2001. So anticlimactic.

so today dave and i "shredded" on tennis courts near my house. it was real hot outside, and in the afternoon when the sun is just blazing, so we both got tired really quick. he hit a sweet run that totalled 23 adds [tiltless]. and some little girls watched us. like 6 year olds. "look at that guy he can move around the ball! so can the other one." too bad they don't really know. later at my house i hit smear>symposium mirage, which i'd been trying for today. and i hit flip PLO a couple times which was a first. so a pretty ok day.

i feel like i'm not going to get better any time soon if i don't change the way i play. maybe i should start practicing...thats an interesting thought...hmm.

Yes...

Well anyways I wanted everyone to know (Especially Kamil/Zeke) that Luke is the guy that kicked ME in the face, 4 years ago. If you remember me telling that story, this it the guy.

Hey Luke - Hoss ordered his Lavers, when are you going to get your's? They ended up being $28 with tax and shipping.

Later.

Oh sweet deal on the lavers, sounds good ! To unleash full potential of your lavers and you, you should most likely go to some sort of footbag event  .

Hey props on dlo. I will hit it soon... hopefully... the same goes for flip pixie stuff. But yeah, having each other to help motivate is good. You should still get Lavers *cough*. HooD's note about going to a jam is about the WV Jam, do you have any interest in going?

Anyways I've been reading about more games we could play, and there's this sick 3 game that sounds cool. I'll explain it later and we'll probably adapt the rules to fit our style of play better.

Props, and lateS!

Hey and I just got this bag today from Nathan Pipenberg:

Get one of Vida's bags dude!

Oh yeah, my parents are going out of town this weekend so I'm inviting a bunch of people over for Friday night. I already told Annie she should come. And Hoss should too. Jacob and Gabe said they'd come too. I think I'll also invite like 5-10 more people. Interested?

Props on DLO.
