Its when you get your foot on a trick or combo, but don`t properly stall it. So like, if you were trying gangsta party, and you set, spun, duck, got the dex, and the bag touched your clipper foot, but rolled off; you could say you "footed" gangsta party. You can`t claim to have hit it, because you never stalled the clipper at the end. Normally, "footing" a trick is a good sign which means you are very close to hitting a trick. "footing" combos usually motivates me to hit it properly, cause I know I can do all the hard parts.

yeah, I guess a bit off topic but I'm not usually much of a fan of posting that you footed stuff - i guess there are times when it's ok but a lot of the time I think people should wait until they actually hit it. footed=dropped. I bet i can drop any move in footbag :P

Maybe not, but just like Ken said it really motivates to hit it clean. I don't post my footed tricks to "Shred Symposium" though I may put them to my blog.

I'd also like to ask: when saying "sealed", do you understand that you've
A) hit the trick clean
B) hit it and "sealed" it to a hand catch
C) hit it and sealed it with another trick?

If i had the feeling a move was thin/the or a duck wasnt there,
i'd say, i didnt hit it.

So, when i say, i sealed legbeater, i assume it was clean and i usually
specify to what i sealed it to( to hand, toe, cheap to add or a nice 3) ;
cleanliness and sealing something are not properly interpending factors -
but sealing a "the'd" trick is like taking a crap in a flower shop = pointless.

But on topic, footed stuff only belongs on the board in special cases,
i'm with Ken and try to use footed stuff as motivation to get a combo
down rightly .

Yeah, but footed and sealed are two different things. Footed basically means you've hit it, but not because it hits the ground and you get the good ole' ground stall. Sealed means you've actually hit it. I think it's great when I foot a move I haven't even come close to before because that means it's almost there. It's better to foot a move than to miss it completely, I think.

sealed means that you've done the move mid run or opener in my opinion

The definition of "sealed" is if you've caught the bag with your hand after the trick, or you have done another trick/kick after you landed the trick. You don't have to hit a trick cleanly to have sealed a trick.

Think about the word sealed. It means to cover something or to close something, right? So, if you've done the trick then put something after (or you could say over) it then you've sealed the trick, instead of the contents of your trick spilling out all over the ground, figuratively speaking of course.

I usually specify what it was sealed with and I wouldn't call a move sealed with a hand catch if it was a struggle to get the hand catch - it's only if the set came out well enough that I could have easily hit another move out but I chose to catch the bag that I would say sealed with a handcatch. If it was in the middle of a run I wouldn't say sealed, I'd say midstring but if I played out of it with something really hard or really easy I'd probably say so.

I would say that you do have to hit a trick cleanly to call it sealed - I think sealed says that you hit the trick very solidly. If it's not clean it's not very solid. You could say you hit an unclean trick and sealed it, or that you don't know if it was clean or not but I'd say it's inaccurate to simply say "I hit nemesis sealed with an osis" if the nemesis was "the" and you know it. Actually if a trick is "the" I'd say you didn't hit it at all.

I also don't think you can really compare to literal meaning of words to their relevence in footbag - sealed might be based around it's literal meaning but what about symposium: gathering of people or hopping over the bag on one foot...

hey Ashley, taking a crap in a flower shop isn't pointless?!
1)you get the post crap satisfaction and 2)crap makes a good fertilizer.
But you're right, you have to hit it cleany to "seal" it.

I have a misunderstanding between footed and sealed:

If you hit a trick, lets say, paradox whirl, then attempt "foot" an osis right after that paradox whirl and miss the osis, what does that make the paradox whirl? Keep in mind, the paradox whirl was slightly out of control, but the set back up was ackward. So does this make the paradox whirl footed since the osis was not "sealed" but rather footed? Or does this make the paradox whirl sealed, but this makes no sense because the paradox whirl was not sealed by an osis because the osis was FOOTED!

Make sense? I'm confused what really counts as sealed, and if footed tricks count the prior trick a sealed trick, even though technically, the prior trick was not properly sealed.

I'm going to say NO, if you dont stick the sealing move it's not sealed - footing the sealing move doesnt count you have to stick it. It'd be like trying to say you sealed a move to hand catch even though you dropped the catch. I guess you could foot the move after the sealing move but thats different so e.g.:
pdx whirl>footed osis = not sealed
pdx whirl>osis>hand catch = pdx whirl sealed with an osis
or pdx whirl>osis>footed spinning osis = pdx whirl sealed with an osis.
