How to bring footbag to an entire Country
Actually I have no idea. I was hoping, C-Fan, that you would share your experience in Japan. I think it's an important aspect of the growth of footbag and an absolutely amazing accomplishment.

I don't have a lot of time to post now, but here are a few main ideas.
1. I think the most important thing to realize, is that you won't be able to do it completely on your own. You'll be most successful if you can get a few friends addicted to the sport, so you will have people who will enthusiastically donate their time to promotion.
I found a quote which sums up this basic philosophy really well:
"If you want to build a ship, don't drum up the men to gather wood, divide the work and give orders. Instead, teach them to yearn for the vast and endless sea."

2. Realize that there is a difference between playing footbag, and promoting footbag. Promoting footbag requires a lot of work, and oftentimes isn't as fun as playing footbag. Be prepared to take a financial loss by giving away videos, shoes, footbags etc. I often lent people materials on the condition they return later and show me their progress, but mentally I was always prepared to write off those materials as gone.
3. Make footbag as visible as possible, and always be aware of the image you are projecting. That means not just playing in a public park, but playing at the same spot every week, not throwing hissy-fits in public, and having business cards/flyers handy that you can distribute to people who look interested. It means always keeping an eye out to see who is watching. It means distributing footbag videos to sports stores, doing demos at schools, and doing performances at nightclubs.

- attempt to attach/connect whatever you want popularized to an already popular trend through advertising/endorsements/product placement
- get what you want popularized on the news as often and in as overt ways as possible, even if it means footbagging behind major news stories or just telling camera crews: "i want this popularized, i promise its a worthwhile story, put me on camera"
