dude totally get a longboard. That one's not bad. It's a downhill board more than anything but it goes super fast and you could carve like a beast. Oh heh I just read the description. . so you already know this. Actually I really like the pintail. I'd consider the pintail over the dervish honestly. But, as you so eloquently put it, "to each his own". Buuuut if you get the pintail you and I could invade the skatepark and piss of BMX people who will also remark to us that we're really good at hack.

But when you get it you have to promise you'll do more than just ride to class on it. Fuckin go ape with that, go like 25 down little narrow walkways and stuff on campus and definitely seek out hills. There are so many people I've seen who just kind of mozzy around on longboards around campus and never do anything with them.

and yes. There are bad sessions. It's just I was taken by surprise by this one because my warm-up went really well and I was feelin' da flow, as it were. But man every kind of shuffle was off. Silliness.

K I finished homework so now I'm off to go play rockband for x number of hours!

ps: Henry's video is the shit. I watched it like 8 times today and had to repeat it a few times to realized he hit alpine legbeater (I think it was legbeater) like it was poop to step in. And he can drift like a mofo. I really didn't think he went in that direction but apparently he's got it owned. I hope to rival his drifter game one day.

which reminds me: he hit I think catacomb > vertigo > string with 80 more gravediggers and stuff. . . so I wanted to try catacomb > vertigo and came miiiiighty mighty close. I was stoked. It was one of the few times I felt good about my flip catacomb.

edit: daaaamn just watched the video again and realized he hits diving drifter . . not vertigo. So uh. Yeah. I can't hit diving drifter. YET! I need to try it again. I got discouraged from diving drifter because it was like toe drifter when I first started playing. So close for waaaay too long trying and I got tired and frustrated. But I bet if I concentrated just a little more on the catching foot then I'd nab it. So I'll try maybe later today.

not sure why I'm posting. Kind of wired and I doubt I'd be able to just roll over and go to bed. So a quick post.

my g-units came in today and should either arrive on campus tomorrow or they already have and I just didn't check. So that's soooooooo cool. I can't wait. I'm not going to be able to concentrate all day knowing I have units in my possession. I hope they play better than lavers right after modding them. I seem to remember they kind of do. Looong time ago in a Rochester far away I remember Matt Cross getting units, modding, and playing with them in one session.

and not liking them all that much if I remember correctly.

I know I'll like them though.

Well whatever, a few highlights I guess. Today wasn't quite as shitty as usual.

worked some atomic like a fiend. I'd pay someone to tell me if I ever make progress with these atomic schooling sessions. It sure as hell doesn't feel like I'm any better at them.

the easiest, painlessest blurry drifter I've ever hit. It's not a new trick but new-ish since I shy away from it. It hurts. But I think I knew at some point I'd have cleaner stepping sets and drifters so I think that time is now because it only took a few tries which barely missed each time and then I nailed a very controlled blry drft. Could've stepped out of it if I hadn't been too shocked by its ease.

jeez that sounds douchey. It was hard. Really hard. What I mean is it didn't hurt at all and I bet it looked cool.

Ben's challenge was hit. sidewalk > barfly > ripwalk. I had to tack a ducking clipper in front of the sidewalk because my flip sidewalk is really unreliable when you just toss the bag to the foot and expect to get it done. It needs a trick in front of it to get momentum. I'm weird.

ducking BOP drill record. Not sure what it was, though.

warmup string that had osis x10 > ss mirage x10 > atw in out out in bsos > and a bunch of ducking . . . all in one string. Really controlled and slow. After this I knew it was going to be a good session.

so modding them is pretty much an asshole.

i hope you have patients and sharp tools.

there are three layers: leather, rubbery stuff, and fuzzy stuff.

the second shoe was way quicker than the first because i knew what i was doing but still a pain.

oh and I forgot to mention I was trying to hit omlette > eggbeater and porque in one string and be like. . ha ha . bacon and eggs, y'all. But no. You could count the number of times I've hit porque on two fingers and for some reason neither of my eggbeaters were working well enough. But yeah. Omlette > eggbeater > porque would be a sweet combo anyway. Style AND intensity nicely blended into one tasty bit of snacky happiness.

it could be the coffee or the gunits but it took me so long to write this just now because of my hands shaking all over the place.

I loooooooove g-units. Ugh man are they so fun! It's like I don't even have to TRY to hit osis anymore! I just kind of dip my foot out there and look back - it'll be on the shoe. Frigid torque here I come!

so a session with Ben. We both had some real good links and some nice long runs. People learn from their critiques people give on videos but Ben and I are being really productive with the feedback we've gotten. I can tell Ben isn't afraid to just kind of do mundane (but essential) tiltless drills and repeats and he wasn't making big leaps like dimwalk > infinity > osis > infinity > RIPPED WARRIOR or something crazy like that. Pretty sure he didn't hit a "blurry" rev whirl once. Did this really sweet run with loads of far rev whirls bsos and that was pretty stylie and controlled. But you get the idea. We're learning.

Me? Well I was showing Ben how I'm trying to stop flicking the bag up and just kind of swooping up the bag with a lazy clipper to start a string. I'm trying to be a bit more hoppy and stuff. I start the bag like Dave Clavens now - not that I'm stealing his style or anything, I just like think that it's comfortable for me to start out strings like that. So I'm working at that.

Like I said in a past post it's hard breaking such dumb habits like my lazy starting style. And I'm attacking the bag more and trying to be a little more various. I had this pretty long string that featured a super controlled torque out of nowhere and then some more guiltless/tripless contacts before I caught the bag and laughed.

Drifters were weird for me today. I had a few good long combos with drifters OR I had butterfly > drifter drop. Clipper > drifter drop. Toe drifter drop.

I'm having a real hard time with pixies with my units. But that was to be expected. This was the first session I had with them so all in all it went fine. Just kind of wish I could've been able to toe shuffle a little. That would've been epic because I really was playing kind of well. If I could rely on pixie stuff like I can with lavers then that would've been clutch. Alas, I'll have to keep working to get used to the toe box.

DLOs? Fine. . . I guess.
Frigid osis? Hit perfectly each time I did it. Oooooh the instep of a g-unit.
stepping shuffle? not bad.
Double dexing? Not used to units enough to do them. What little I did was failed. blah.
Ducking? Well that's a moot issue. It was on today.
Whirls? Wonky on my flip pdx whirl. But other than that no complaints. I had some pretty funky huge whirls I would bail to deep into a string when I ran out of ideas and those were hilarious. Massive whirls. Painless

In other news my two bags are getting holey and I'm running out of time. I really don't want to order another. So I'm just hoping they last until GRASS so I can get a Waylon or a Cross. I might get desperate though and in that case I'll put in an order for a footfighter. Jeez I can't believe I still have my old amaretta footfighter. This bag is a commando. It feels like tissue paper now though. Yikes. Not going to last a few more sessions I fear. My mosher's holding, though. Just a few holes. I'm treating it really well so I can get to GRASS.

G-unit session #2. Not sure how long I played because I have no concept of time all day today for some reason. Is it still today? Am I late for class?

so anyway I still really like gunits. For some reason I just really have longer strings in them. Stepping shuffle is so effortless now and they're nice and grippy (for now at least) so spinning is pretty tight and controlled. I had some crazy gyro stuff today hit today. I used a lot of Pandora and mixed in a bunch of gyro butters and g mirages.

schooled some old goldies so I can fit them into whatever kind of game I'm molding into right now:

dps mirage bs

dynos and all the variations I can do (spinning, pixie, symple, far, ducking/diving, gbyas, etc)

and I made it a point to try and get used to pixies in them. I think I got some headway, but still not really all that consistent. I blame myself and the way I do pixies. But I think units will help fix what I'm doing wrong. I feel the sets I got off today were much more "correct" and . . dare I say. . quiet (they tended to be very slow and quiet for some reason). And my flip pixie isn't affected by the new shoes, but that isn't much of a surprise since my flip has much better form than strongside. So yeah. I managed a good few pixie shuffling strings which made me smile.

and I remembered fairy. So I did fairy for like 5 minutes and then decided I still hate fairy for no particular reason

atomic was giving me hell today for some reason. It made me really mad. Couldn't get anything midstring and my flipside is my flipside again (it changes bi-monthly it seems) and it was being just that to me today. Couldn't even tap.

got a few compliments from people for once. Not that it's nothing new. Everyone on campus knows me. They just don't always say anything to me or look at me. Meh. See Modest Mouse's song "Invisible" for further details.

Oh and big news today. Matt Kemmar (Matt K on this here modified) IMd me today and told me he's coming to Siena to visit as a potential student. That pretty much rocks out loud. He's really really good, obviously. Maybe Siena will actually take footbag seriously if he becomes a student here.
-----so anyway he's coming to visit next weekend and hopefully we'll get to play a couple times. I've never met him before in person but I've read of his exploits and I'm pretty sure Will Digges brought him up in the ways of footbag so uh. . yeah. That can't hurt.

In other news:
I bought a new Wii game; No More Heroes. It's the first "seroius/hardcore gamer" game for the wii and it's really good. I haven't had a chance to play it yet because I bought it and realized I should play footbag while the weather's good. Rest assured that I will be playing this and doing homework throughout the Super Bowl.

I hate the Super Bowl.

I hate football.

I like chips and dip.

I like listening to people drink cheap beer and yell at TVs while they watch the Super Bowl.

I like making spaced out lists in my footblog for no apparent reason.

you'll get used to it. you have walls right? if you're snagging them on pixies you might want to consider cutting them down a little. of course what the hell do i know about walls, honestly, i mod my kicks like some kind of sociopath.

oh I forgot to write last time that I've been playing No More Heroes nonstop. It's great. I'd like to write a lot on it but let's just leave it at this:
- I've waited a long time for a game where I could use a light/beam sword decidedly called a katana (in the game) and split people in half into a bloody splashy pool and have my character yell out "FUCK YOU!"

I'd be hurt if you didn't! And bring your 360 so we can play SKATE. I've really wanted to play that for a while and I don't know anyone with it. All the people I know with a 360 just have Assassin's Creed and Gears of War and Rockband and stuff.

I'm not complaining. All good games. But SKATE is definitely one reason I'm hoping to get a 360 this summer.

in other news, this time slightly related to footbagginess - - I is sick. And for this I thank my Bavarian roommate for his undying hatred for antibiotics. . . the kid is literally sick 70% of the year.

Anywho, so I was looking at dates for GRASS and looking at my finals schedule. I only have 2 finals and they arent until the wednesday after GRASS. Thats at least 2 Full days of cramming. So then of course I got curious..... Where is Siena in relation to RPI? Im just wondering cuz I could take a train from Boston to Rochester for $44, but I could also take a train from Boston to Rensselaer for $22.... Actually, I guess I should first ask this: How do you plan on getting to GRASS?

I started playing when g-units were starting to filter into the scene (around me) so I've always known that units were an option. And although it's kind of not me to swing away from "old school" or "the original" I just really like the reputation of g-units. Always been in the back of my mind.

I'm trying not to be lazy anymore!!

I'm going to be driving to GRASS. Any BSC is more than welcome to tag along. And Doug can come too I suppose.
