Ever seen videos of footbag when it was just a few years old? They weren't stringing technical tricks together, actually they weren't stringing much of anything. Give them a few years and they might actually have something interesting.

Guy from montreal is named Sebastien (but different seb from Hurricane). He was good net player, and not shabby at freestyle back a bunch of years.

History lesson/interesting story: The year that Eli and Flash and Kenny and me and whoever else shredded at the Philly X-Games, Myachi (and sebastien) had a booth selling these things. Kids and teens were WAAAAY more pumped about that booth than even considering watching us shred. And we were a pretty good circle of players. I don't know what that proves, but interesting ain't it?

I think Myachi is geared more towards littler kids while footbag is for higher teens (15-19) and twenties.

Plus you don't realy have to be as athletic to do myachi.

Sebastien Peron was the first real freestyler I ever met. I bought a myachi from him when I was 17, and he helped me understand torque.

I really don't like myachi. plus, a lot of those guys The really bad. I don't think too many things that involve overweight kids taking themselves really seriously end up working out.

Wow, so many narrow minded people. How some of you ever got into footbag I will never understand. But, I have nothing but love for you all.

Anyway, nice video. That kid was crazy good. I bet he could slap me in the face seven times before I even catch him entering the room.

Admittedly it's kinda neat. At the same time though, I can't get over the fact that you just stand there and twirl your arms about. It seems to me like all I have to do to really "get" a myachi trick is watch somebody elses video and try it a couple times and you'll probably get it at least once. As far as I can tell, Myachi is more of an "instant gratification" sport that has lots of possibilities but little challenge or effort, which is why it probably appeals to little kids so much. With footbag on the other hand, I've been watching people do osis for 3 goddamned years now and I STILL can't do it. Footbag requires time, effort, and a little bit of physical stamina. As kinda neat as myachi is, it just seems like it is definitely directed to lazy obese little kids who want instant gratification, or else they'll go bust out their PSP.

I hear people make similar comments about footbag, ie. that it would be easy to do. Almost exclusively the people who make those sorts of comments haven't played at all and fail miserably when they do try. Perhaps that's because footbag is so difficult. So that's why I'd be curious to see what happens when people who have never attempted myachi give it a go, if people picked it up quicker then it might just be easier to learn the basics in myachi.

Are there any myachi "pro's" out there, I'd like to see some video of them before I make a judgement, I think it's a bit like if people saw videos of one or two footbag noobs and just thought the whole sport was crappy as a result.

Anyway, I'm not intending to stick up for myachi but rather make a point. I really believe that most of the general public thinks of footbag freestyle in much the same way that people think of myachi. It's very easy to be a hater, but what's the point...

Yeah, when I posted I was kinda doubting that there were any, but I'd also like to be proven wrong.
