My new vid - outdoor session

Post by kidzanshin »

Yesterday i played a truck load of footbag and was pushing for some new, harder tricks instead of my usual drills etc.

so in the evening i tried to incorporate these and generally the tricks i find harder into my freestyle

string length isn't fab but let me know what you think of my form and style and how i can improve my game :D

P.S. illusions dedicated to Ben Joshi

and the like 2 or 3 attempts at dragon are thanks to Matt Cross' sweet tutorial, thanks Matt, it really inspired me to attack that awesome stall, and i also tried some swirling but couldn't find a decent one to post

oh and sorry for the sh*% lighting at the end, it was getting dark :x

Your game is looking good. You're playing a good level. I say stay at that level until the tricks you are doing become smooth and easy.

The only big problem with your form that I see is your clippers. You need to turn your hips for clipper. As you're doing it now, you barely turn your hips at all and that really limits your range of motion.

Other than that, just smooth out your tricks and drill them until they feel and look easy.

No, I don't play soccer. Yes, there are competitions. 4 years. Lots of practice.

nice video, man. i think its the first tiltless video ive ever watched all the way through :D it looks like you have a very solid foundation of toe game... id say work your clippers like ben said. do LOTS of infinities... the ones i saw in your video looked pretty good actually... set a high goal for them and reach it. also, for control, try infinity>ss clipper>rpt. is there any way you can slow down too? your tempo is crazy fast, which might make bigger, complex tricks later on impossible to do fast enough. maybe thats what ben meant... just smooth out. great progress bud, dont stop, and do everything bothsides as you get better. props on dyno, its awesome!

thanks very much guys!

ye this was me pushing the level of my freestyle so i want to keep pushing this level until it becomes more comfortable

but thanks for the advice on clippers, i obviously want to sort that before i move on

ben - by turning my hips what direction do you mean, turning them in or out? maybe a picture or video that shows what you mean as id like to try it

cale - thanks man! im glad you watched to the end as the last string is the best ha! my first nearly guiltless string (although it was short) ive been pushing pixies at the moment but now ive got a feel for them ill do more infinity drilling, thanks for the tip. in fact im gonna go do some right now!

will - ye i was pleased with the jump in my game since the last video, glad it comes through

hopefully ill be able to make another video soon with the same improvement!

well ive chatted to another UK player called Alex Key whose blog is here http://modified.in/footbag/viewtopic.ph ... ht=#374923

but there's not been any posts for a couple months

i think there are a couple of kickers about but doesn't seem to be anyone above tiltless on modified

there have also been a couple of posts about a call for UK players and there's been very little response

also the footbagger.co.uk forum has said that registration for the forum has been disallowed since i first went on when i started paying a year ago.

it would be cool which is why i play a lot at school to get interest, i post videos and bulletins on myspace and am stitching so i can get some bags around and about in the UK to get footbags out there

cool! At the end of the new Vasek DVD, he says that you have to KILL your basic tricks in order to eventually become good. I've heard that lots, as I'm sure you have as well. However, he also added that for such basic and necessary concepts as Clipper, "you have to hit like one hundred." This is difficult, but I'm sure that if you work at it, you'll get it and then your muscle memory will have a better handle on this move. So, tweak your form and make sure your clipper looks and feels the way you want it to (you'll prolly want to find the clipper position that maximizes your crank... you'd be surprised how much this affects your crank), and then drill the SHIT out of it and hit 100 of them in a row. And then the next day, hit 100 of them again. And then do 100 clippers as a warm up for every session.

this is on top of whatever practise you're doing for infinities... This should get propper clipper form "drilled" into you muscle memory and you'll be more consistent, and you'll have better form to boot.

good luck!
