Big ups to Mike and Camille for hosting this jam! It's never an easy job, but they ran a super tight jam, that went on time and went smoothly. The only hiccough was the weather!
Again, thanks to Mike for putting up with all the shit that goes along with hosting 6 people at your house for a few days: allowing them to monopolize your bathroom, use all the hot water, steal all your clean towels, eat all your food without washing any dishes, use way more space than they need to ("i'm small and don't take up much room, can i crash on someone's floor?" is something commonly said but seldom true), and generally stink up the place. He took it all with grace and a smile on his face for the love of all things footbag. A personal thank-you for not making a huge deal about the fact that i had to crawl up your front steps saturday night. I felt pretty bad about that, so sorry again!
Even bigger props go to Sarah, who put up with all that shit and doesn't even like footbag, whilst suffering from terrible allergies!!! I always feel really bad when footbaggers get pressed upon nonfootbaggers for a weekend, because we are a very strange bunch of individuals, who when together like to wax-poetic about kicking and alienate nonfootbaggers for hours on end as we spout garbage about form, style, and what kind of deodorant vasek uses. So again, thanks to sarah for putting up with the smelly footbaggers for the weekend. Mike, take her someplace nice and say thanks for putting up with my stupid friends!
Camille pretty much didn't sleep the whole weekend as she took tram, train, and long board around the city making sure things were going smoothly. Thanks for the hard work you put into the jam, because it surely paid off!

Thanks to our prize bag donators: Andrew Dunford, Matt Cross, and Erik Chan. The bags were so sweet, we considered canceling the jam and keeping them for ourselves! Also, many thanks to our judges: Paul Toews, Matt Cross and Andrew Weglarz. And thanks again to Freedom Footbags and planetfootbag for their donations. (Yes Stephen, the package arrived at Camille's just in the nick of time!)
I had a wicked time despite all the hassle that comes with running a tournament. I'm sure Camille will say the same. It was a great learning experience, and now that I know what worked and what could have been improved - we might just throw a jam next year!

This weekend was fantastic! Thank you to everyone who made it out!!!
I apologize if I was a downer or if I complained a bit... I was super stressed and tired and sick... I didn't even get to really play, and when I did, I was hardly able to warm up. Plus being sick and exhausted made playing pretty shitty.
But I still had an amazing time!!! You guys made me laugh so hard and have so much fun. There were honestly moments where I thought I couldn't take it anymore. I was laughing so hard that it hurt and I couldn't breathe!!
I have so much more appreciation for people who throw jams now! I don't know why GLASS wasn't as difficult to organize. I guess I just had less going on in my life at the time.
Mike already did the thank yous, but I really want to thank everyone who donated prizes and swag. They arrived in time and people really liked them. Erik Chan, Andrew Dunford, Matt Cross, Freedom Footbags, and planetfootbag: THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
Big thanks to Andrew Weglarz, Paul Toews, and Matt Cross who helped me to judge. It was my first time judging and I found it somewhat difficult, but I think we agreed on the best rankings. It was so silly for me to try to simultaneously film AND take photos AND judge AND organize and deal with everything else like food and band-aids and the reporter and friends... it was endless work but I'm happy it paid off. I've already started making lists of how we can improve for next time. I don't even want to wait a year 'til the next one!! Though I'm sure I'll have more fun going to other jams.
I also really want to thank Andrew Grant. He didn't have to, but he was basically always around to help out and make us laugh.
I appreciated that Andrew W and Matt Cross took control of the m.c.ing... I had a sore throat and shitty cold, plus Mike & I are kinda shy, so it was super cool for them to take the reigns like that.
I'm also very happy that Paul Toews made it out. I had to beg him to come; he was reluctant because being around shred makes it really hard to resist playing, and his injury just makes it all so sad. But he definitely ended up having fun and I think it was important that he was there. Jay--- you have no idea how much Paul has done for Toronto's shred scene. For the longest time he was the only player here and one of, if not THE best in Ontario. So many of us can credit him for our introduction to the sport and the encouragement, education, and support we were provided with. I know it might be hard for new players to understand or even believe. It's funny because you were thinking, "Who the hell is he?" But really, the rest of us are thinking, "Who the hell are YOU?" You know what I mean? We've been around for a while now.
Anyway, it was super fun overall. The competition was intense and awesome to watch. The people were amazing and friendly. And the laughs were hearty and frequent.

Some funny moments and quotes I can remember (Andrew G had discussed doing this but I think we forgot most of them):
Figuring out the bill at Swiss Chalet... Everyone was telling the waiter what they had and I forgot who said it but someone pointed at Andrew Grant and said, "And he's had a bit of everything!!" Bottomless pit indeed.
One of the waiters reassuring Rishelle that there were no human remains in her salad dressing.
All of us crammed into Tank's car Friday night. It was just one silly thing after another and we were all so tired and retarded and just couldn't stop laughing. I was literally crying.
Talking about Jon Haber's world's routine to the point that we decided we had to go to Mike's and watch it again. And then actually going and watching it.
Also watching Jorden videos and eagerly anticipating his dance moves.
Watching Matt Cross write "KILL!!" on Alex's chest right before competing.
Andrew G: I can't decide if I want to go shower or stay and watch shred.
Jorden: Shower in the GLORY OF THE SHRED!
Random hobo outside the bar: All I had to eat today was an apple.

Stumbling back to Mike's with Chis Dean and Andrew Grant after the bar Saturday night. Going into a convenience store so Andrew G could find water and Chris could find a washroom:
Me: There's water right there.
Chris: That's the OPPOSITE of what I want!!!
Chris "swaying in the wind". Andrew nearly falling asleep while walking. Finally walking up Mike's stairs and hearing total stumbles behind me. Then watching the two of them give up walking and just crawling their way up.
Me: I'm going to go take off my shorts and wash my peach.
Andrew W and Jon Haber: jaws drop
Andrew: Did you just say that you're going to wash your peach??
Me, picking up the piece of fruit beside me and holding it up, laughing and shaking my head: Yes, A PEACH.

I hate when tournies end, and it's even sadder when everyone leaves your city. But I was lucky to have my two best friends still by my side when everyone else had left: Andrew W and Paul Toews.

You totally rock!!! I really appreciate you helping me so much to organize so well and also for being Toronto's sugar daddy!!! You did so much. It made me very happy. Thanks for everything.
