Kicked in the common room today. I was worried about my right knee cause I actually tweaked it a bit last night trying a whirling swirl. Luckily, all was beautiful I really have to try and time my sessions on tuesdays and fridays better. I keep on missing dinner lol. I really enjoyed my session today. Spent the whole first hour of it as more of a warm up, doing a lot of basics.

Highlights:

- ducking clipper > spinning clipper > rpt > infinity > spinning clipper > rpt
- osis > spinning clipper > rpt x2
- 4 guiltless strings in the mid teens (my quota of the day)
- pdx illusion > flail bsos (first try)
- osis > gyro clipper > drifter > rpt
- really integrated drifters into decent strings
- whirr > ps whirl (first try 8) )

Movie night

Today I ventured to the academic building in search of an open classroom to kick. Of course they decide to lock all classrooms on sundays. Of course. Ends of hallways are convenient though. I got in a good 2 hour session.

I started off with a good warmup then did strings. Hit my quota of 4 good guiltless strings. I got really psyched cause I did maybe 7 or 8 strings total, and 4 of those were the good ones. It was so quick. And one string was even 20 contacts. Felt so good.

Then I filmed for the shred global contest. I had fun just filming tricks. I didn't feel as guilty just because I had such an easy time with stringing. So my next few sessions will just be drilling and stringing. I really want to hit a frickin drill that's been in my challenges forever and I've come so close so many times. I need to to hit it to be happy lol. Not really, but it'd make me happy and no longer frustrated.

Lata later

Haha I'm still working on the whole flip whirr thing. It's on the to-do list

I was able to wake up and go kick in the floor lounge this morning, and shit it was a good session. I've kicked 5 of the last 7 days and damn it feels good. I honestly can't remember the last time I've done this.

Highlights:

- osis > gyro clipper > osis > spinning clipper > rpt
- infinity > osis > gyro osis > gyro clipper > rpt
- osis > gyro osis > spinning clipper > rpt
- sidewalk > ripwalk > rpt again
- stepping ss clipper > ripwalk > rpt
- stepping far pickup > pixie ss clipper > rpt > stepping far legover > pixie ss clipper > rpt
- 3 "long" guiltless strings. two of 18 contacts and a third of 20
- 2 other 10+ contact strings to meet my new quota of 5

Working on shuffle felt like it really helped string length. Being able to throw the stuff into strings more consistently felt good. But alas, I neglected spinning a bit once I actually got into doing strings. I've been having trouble finding a good balance of the two. Once I do though, I'll be a happy boy.

Today felt so good. I sincerely hope that I can keep up playing this frequently. I don't want to jinx it by saying it because I always do, but I have to make it work! Kicking this much just feels so good. I can't let myself let up. Although, I should definitely take tomorrow off. I can feel the toll that this is taking on my body lol.

Okay I guess I have to do homework now. We'll see

Good drills.

How do you think of whirr? symple muted whirling same whirl, dbl pickup bailed to clipper or my style of whip leg around bag mad fast and hope your knee doesn't bust or something different?

I think of it as the symple muted whirling same whirl. The key to that way is going for a symposium whirl and just kinda bail on it quickly, allowing for it to make a set, then just go for the second whirl. But moving the leg quickly does help. If I do the set to slow then I never have a chance at the second whirl.

Thanks Andrey!

I just did some baggy with Drew and Will again. It took me forever and ever to get any kind of lengthy strings. I did get a pdx DLO weenie bsos though. That felt pretty gangsta. I did end the session with a quota of 5 10+ guiltless strings, two of which were 17 contacts. Yay.

On another note, I'm hitting flail much more consistently. It always makes me feel pretty nifty.

Yup.

I'm tired tonight. I'm off to go play WOW for the first time. What am I getting myself into?

Just kicked again. Utterly unfulfilling session. Started off fine ish. Wasn't spectacular, but it wasn't horrible by any means. My 45 minutes of warm ups and drills went almost decently. I hit smear > pixie ss mirage > rpt, just something I've never given much attention to. I worked on drifters a bit, and was enjoying those. But, once I got to stringing, I just practically fell apart. Oh welllllllllll.

In retrospect, I did start eating pretty badly since my monday session. I wonder if that has anything to do with it. I'll get back on the right track and see if it makes a difference. I'll just try to restart my momentum tomorrow or something. And I guess it's at least good that I've reignited the passion of playing a lot more instead of just playing a bit and watching a lot of videos.

edit: I forgot I also hit weaving clipper > zulu clipper > rpt. yay.

Hey John, I've checked out your blog off and on for a while now but never commented. Seems like we were at about the same place w/our games for a little while but you've gotten further ahead than me lately. Anyway, I saw this:

...and I just had to comment. Be careful! I've seen WoW do terrible, terrible things. Sure, at first you're socializing with new people & having fun. Then you start thinking about the next time you'll play, losing focus on the things you need to do... drifting away from your friends who aren't into it... next thing you know you're up all hours, playing by yourself, skipping classes, not showering, unwilling to log off. Chasing that next level, even though the level-ups are getting farther and farther apart, and don't really feel the same as they used to. Its a dark, harrowing journey.

I'm only about 20% joking.

Thanks man, I appreciate the comment. I wouldn't say I'm getting further. I'm really inconsistent at the moment :P

And with WOW, I only have a limited subscription cause it was a gift, so hopefully I can somehow resist the addiction. Hopefully..

Thanks man, I can't wait to kick with you again

Today's session was only an hour long.

Highlights:

- dropped last drifter of infinity > drifter > inifinity > rpt X2
- got my 5 decent string quota
- schmoe > pixie ss clipper > stepping ss clipper bsos
- shin splints returned :(

I guess I'll take tomorrow off and try to kick on monday at some point.

2 hours decided to be the length of today's good session.

Highlights:

- Osis x29
- Ducking Clipper x 22
- Eggbeater x2 bs
- DLO x4 bs
- pdx DLO bs a bunch of times almost bsos again
- pdx eggbeater bs
- ducking clipper > ducking osis > rpt
- flip bs blur
- stepping ss pickup bsos in a decent string
- Toe Barrage bsos
- got 6 guiltless strings of 10+ contacts. Beat the quota, but I guess I have to raise it now lol
- Pogo/fs blur bsos a couple times. New favorite concept of the day
- Pogo/fs blizzard bs. Really awkward
- good run starting with fairy ss mirage b2b

Today I didn't stretch until I was done and had a really good session. I wonder if this really does work. I'll have to try more times. I did seem to aggravate my upper quad or something though. Maybe I went to fast.

Dinner time!

edit: just added some stuff that I forgot

That is fine to do. Just make sure you get really warm (have a nice sweat going) before you go for things that may aggravate your body.

I usually stretch after shreds. I don't know if it makes the shred better or not, but I feel more comfortable to stretch harder when I'm completely warmed up.

Thanks for the comments guys. I've had two more sessions with the stretching afterwards. I have felt a bit more sore, but it's all good. I like this method so far. Not real crazy highlights from last night and today.

- got my 6 strings last night "fairly" easily
- had more fun with strings last night.
- fun session overall, but now I really can't remember what happened
- (today) ducking clipper > drifter > ducking clipper > rpt first try

I definitely need to give my legs a break. They're startin to hurt very nicely lol.

Snow day!

yesterday it looked like you were doing less drilly type stuff and more just freestylin' it. it was a really fun session. i don't know how you keep track of your trick counts. 8O

and be careful with that WoW! remember how i was telling you that RIT was a total sausage fest, but somehow there were still enough girls at parties? well, where do you think all those dudes were?

Took yesterday off to give my legs some peace and quiet. Today, I wasn't so kind. Luckily, they didn't hate me today.

I really need to start writing down my highlights mid-session or something. This lack of memory is really annoying lol. I'll throw down what I can remember anyway:

- Spinning clipper x 11 strong side
- Spinning clipper x 9 flipside
- Really started to work on pixie again
- smear > dimwalk > blur > rpt (took me long enough)(and thanks kevin video for inspiration lol)
- Had a really nice flip phoenix (dropped the bsos)
- symple rev. swirl one side. footed the other
- got my 6 10+contact strings. I really liked them today
- worked on blenders a little bit. trying to get out of the awkward phase of always being able to hit them but never able to control them

I'm really happy the way my game is progressing now. Now that I've been playing a lot more these past 2-3 weeks, I've noticed so much more consistency. I can do more of what I actually want to instead wanting to do something epic and just failing lol.

Night night

Nice on smear>dimwalk>blur rpt too. I found that kevin video really inspirational aswell.
