Also, I was just looking at video statistics on YouTube, and found a thread on a website called ShackNews apparently started by my brother where random internet people give feedback on my Europe video. Apparently I got over 600 video views referred from this post. Interesting!
(Also, my brother may have unintentionally exaggerated my status... haha
)

I kicked around a soccer ball today. It was my first exercise really since my last injury. I've been feeling off and on lately, so I'm not going to push it, but it felt good. Just kicks and stuff. I did, like, 2 legovers in a row and some ATWs, but nothing that really taxed me in any way. I hope I can footbag soon. I just want to do spinning clippers.
Lordy, I hope not!
I had a test session just now.
Oh man it felt good.
Yesterday I messed around with just some osii in my room, in a space about 1 square metre (Canadian/British spelling is weird sometimes! Did you know that we pronounce the same spelling of "lieutenant" as "lef-TEN-ant"... with an F sound..).
It's been too nice out the last few days. Yesterday was 22 Celcius (or was it the day before?). Just now was 9, which is much colder and it's just getting dark now, but I couldn't resist. Being outside is so refreshing.
I played maybe 20 minutes. I did mostly clippers and osii. I didn't seem to have trouble going long. I was gonna do a One Shot with just those basic tricks, but left my camera inside. I also did pdx blender both sides, and DATW both ways both sides. It was great fun. I sweat at the drop of a hat, as it were. I'm going to try to not push it though. I'm really out of shape, but I'm going to try to ease back into it by only exercising every second day. On Monday I went straight into a pretty full workout for me with some Pilates, sit ups and pushups, Yoga and stretching not having done anything for a few months, and yesterday I could barely get out of bed.
I'm going to do the same workout again now. Man, Yoga feels so good. I've been adding quite a few videos to Fourkast lately. It's actually a lot of work. I watch through every single video and note every significant move and player in order in the keywords. And I have to sit around and wait for the uploads to finish, since they never really replied to my request for FTP access. And on that same note my VHS project is going nowhere fast. Red is "busy with other things". I put so much effort and time into this video project, so it's pretty frustrating that I can't really take it to the next level. He doesn't really reply to my emails so I asked to get in direct contact with Sean Wingert who does technical stuff on the site, but neither have replied to me. I'd really just go do this whole thing on my own, but I've invested what's got to be close to a hundred hours on Fourkast...

Still can't play.
I found some random clips of myself from 2009, though, so I threw something together. I have some more, actually, that may make another for tomorrow-ish, if they're decent.

At the end, some drunk woman tried to grab my ass and simultaneously said something, like, "Are you trying to grab my ass??" Definitely not. Sorry...

I hope to start playing more as summer is creeping in and school will soon be done until September. I will also be living in the same town as Johnny Suderman... I'm still messed up, but I may be VERY slowly getting better, as a few intense session over the past few months with Adam haven't left me crippled. Here's a recap of yesterday's session. I hope that I can maybe fit in a few more, actually, before he leaves for tree-planting and I leave for London.
March 13, 2012:
Massive "first outdoor session" with Adam today. (I'd actually played a bit outside while it was still cold.)
Intense 2-hour session in which we both played way too hard.
Highlights:
Adam:
-alpine food processor (first time) a couple times
-blurriest > flurry > pixie paradon > blurriest > flurr..
-blurriest > blurrier > blurriest > blurri...
-paradon swirl > handcatch > other side
-blurrier, blurriest, pixie paradon all BSOS
-smog > pixie same drill almost?
-lots of triple dexes
-whirlwalk
Erik:
-blurriest > blurrier both sides (I think I could drill this with a little practice)
-reaper BSOS (first time)
-pixie paradon > blurriest, and other side pixie paradon and blurriest same run (also did the link on the other side, but in a different run)
-clean flurry first try!
-clean flip flurry attempts! (definitely figuring this trick! Thanks Adam!)
-ripcurl to open a run, dropped on riptide attempt (other side swirl)
-blazing far whip (foot the other side too)
It seemed like I did a lot more... It was a very satisfying session.
Oh yeah, I also did a run with stepping symp mirage and backside blur both BSOS, which was notable because I did the flip stepping symp mid-run, and the footing for that has always eluded me. I had actually thought about it while unable to play for a few weeks, and that seems to have helped?? Also, on that note, my trick for figuring out flurry is to think of it as a muted stepping set with an extra dex, instead of blazing same DLO. I watched the FootbagFinland demo on YouTube with Aleksi and Samu, and it seemed more like stepping. So when I tried it thinking this way for the first time, I was shocked to hit it clean and easy first try!
I also did little apple BSOS and a spinning symp mirage same run, but that's not hard for me.

I'm watching some older videos on my harddrive and came across this 32-minute Euros 2010 video by Tuukka: http://koti.kapsi.fi/~jfk/video/Euros2010.wmv
I haven't been blown away by a video like this in a while. Wow, David. Nebula > fusion > whirlygig swirl... Nuts stuff. It's really appropriate music: "Flawless. Absolutely flawless." -- accurately describes this Clavens shred.
It makes me want to get back to my Fourkast archiving project that I've put off due to school. I had to forego a session with Adam the other day since I have 2 essays and 2 reports due in the next 2 days. My head is numb. I'm dying to hack too. The weather has been gorgeous! I haven't had time for my yoga, though, so my back was killer today. I hope I can have at least a solo session in the next week, though I have an essay due next Friday too. I also have plans for a video in the vein of my Europe video

where I'll tour my University of Toronto campus before I move to London, Ontario. It will be to some track by this duo that I really dig from London:

This album was the theme for my commuting school experience this past summer. Biking to and from the train station grooving to this on repeat.

Thanks for visiting, guys.
Yeah. It's so sad that he doesn't really play anymore
TIME: 1:15 hours (I'm completely guessing, 'cause I don't remember)
FOOTBAG: Pengpeng
I had a solo session, testing out my point-and-shoot digital camera. Apparently it shoots indefinitely! I always thought it stopped after 5 minutes. So, neat. Some highlights:
-flurry BSOS
-blurrier and blurriest both BSOS, with a gyro DLO
-pixie paradon > blurriest both sides
-flurry > paradon both sides
-caught the bag on my calf BSOSing haze and fog
Not sure if anything else of note. No runs, really. I should just do that next time and work on endurance/a solid cardio workout without pushing my joints and tight muscles. I ended with a few 20+s, but just easy stuff. I'm so rusty. I keep dropping on my foundation spinning and ducking tricks. I can't really PRACTICE, either, 'cause of my injuries. Maybe once school's done I can get serious about strengthening my core and eliminate back pain. Blah blah blah.
Oh yeah, the flurries were suyper notable, 'cause this was, like, the third time ever I'd hit the trick.. Not sure of the cleanliness of flip, but Adam was saying they were okay half the time at our last session, so... I dunno.
Actually, maybe I'll start posting hack videos I've watched lately, to add a little video goodness to the blog. I watch this one a lot. I don't know why Olaf rarely gets props in videos. The stuff he does is stupid nuts -- way cooler than anything that anybody else does most of the time.

Also, I beat this game today after school, as a reward for finishing a week of 2 major essays and 2 reports. Incredible game:

Footbag has really affected my spelling. I'm writing an essay, and couldn't successfully search for "fairytale" in my notes because I was spelling it "fairytail" (fairy scorpion's tail). I can never write the word football. I just comes out as footbag. It's never come up before, but I'd probably spell entourage "enterrage". I'm not even sure of the spelling of some other words that are also footbag tricks.
Also, I've been following Honza's video thread and wanted to avoid writing comments there because of the tension it's caused. But my initial feelings when I saw it on YouTube were: neat idea, but a few problems. The biggest problems for me were that most of the shots seemed out of focus when viewed in HD, and the dolly shots seemed to just move back and forth from the same perspective, which was really noticeably repetitive, detracting from the professionalism. My other major complaint is that it was kind of corny--Honza makes a kind of silly face at the end when the others look so serious. Otherwise, it was a really neat concept with the fire and stuff. Some of the editing was neat, like the name popping up and moving with the figure at the beginning.
