Okay... I'm not diving into any attacks here.
Personally I think that the distinction has to be made between fearing death / believing in an afterlife.
Sure I fear death. I do not, as far as I can tell (which may leave me open to question) fear an afterlife, as I quite honestly tend to agree with others before me in this thread that a supreme unconsciousness will accompany the moment of truth, and I simply will cease to be.
Doesn't mean I'm in a hurry for that to happen, and I certainly don't look forward to it.
And I'm not bitter. Maybe I have the burden of NOT believing...
On the other hand, it's pretty sparse as far as I can tell when compared to the moral obligation that comes with thinking that one might go to hell.
Try and be nice. Maybe Karma's the direction to look?
The Burden of believing in God
Here is the reason why I don't participate in religious arguments:
It is obvious that at this point, man cannot logically prove to another man that God exists. He can only feel his own feelings, and attempt to cultivate the same feelings in another.
Feelings are not arguable. You can't tell me what I feel, and I cannot tell you what you feel. Why then, would I try to argue about something based entirely on feelings?

I personaly believe that following religions is foolish. Why follow what other people believe, when you are an individual. Religions were invented by man, with the same intelligence of any other human being. I follow my own beliefs which are not set in stone, and are constantly changing as I change and go through different experiences. Many things that I believe in share much of the same moral values with existing religions out there (as do many religions do with other religions) But why restict your beliefs to any one religion.
Sure religions are good, because they give people hope and somthing to turn to, but think about all the rediculous conflict and wars they have caused throughout human existance. Don't be a follower, think for yourself. In a way I am my own religion.
