Excellent jam, lotsa fun, lotsa footbag. I'm really glad I was able to go. I met a bunch of new people which was cool and saw a bunch of friendly faces. Shredding with people around my age, i.e. Zac, Matt, Ben, and Jay was pretty cool. I'm not sure whether I was ever in a circle with Jay now that I think of it though, so that's too bad.

I wish I could do drifter..
Playing with people around your age is the best.
Actually the opportunity to play with people from 10 years older to 10 years younger than you is the best.
Footbag rocks!
I still can't get over I did that avatar of yours like 5 years ago.
I can't stop wondering where you found it.
The world is smaller than you think.

it was great to finally meet you! Next time though we'll have to bring our boards and skate a bit when we need a break from shred. (if)

Reflections on an Injury
To begin with. I'm healed. At least I think so. But basically, yea, I'm healed and it feels good.
But maybe it was a good thing that I got injured. I was talking with Matt Kemmer online and I started thinking about it from some questions he asked and I think it really made me think objectively about the answers. A lot of good things have come out of me getting injured I believe.
Rewind to September.
I was sad. Very sad. No footbag? For an undetermined amount of time? After playing so hard over summer and improving so much? I got over the biggest part of the upset in about a week, but even after that, I felt a little bit empty and sometimes I would have crippling moments of "why me" or just feeling an unbelievable urge to shred, but I couldn't. There were multiple times over the next 2-3 months where I went very slow and tried to play but couldn't, but every time the toe would flare up and I'd feel a little bit more empty.
After that first worst week of realizing I wouldn't be able to play for a long time, I think what really pulled me out of my funk was getting into other stuff. I decided to run three days a week and work out and get really in shape. Part of the reason was to have a nice lookin body cuz I figure why not, right? But another reason was to strengthen up all of my body fairly equally to prevent other or further injuries. So that kept up for a while until I made my first visit to my doctor who suggested I stop running, so from there I stopped running and started doing a bit more free weights and over the past 6 or so months I've improved my strength a great deal.
That running though was a big first step in some improvements. I went running regularly 3 days week every week and I ran the same place every day sometimes going a little further before turning back or going a little shorter but faster, but every day I ran by the girl's soccer JVa practice field. And it was hot, so naturally I had no shirt on. Apparently some of the girls I didn't know, or barely knew took a liking to me, including the girl I've been kinda dating for the past 3 months and am probably gonna ask out Saturday. So that's when she first really kinda took a liking to me. Who knows what would've happened if I hadn't showed off my sweaty body outside and instead in my basement shredding hard.
I also found longboarding and have recently been getting into that in a big way. No other feeling like blasting down a hill at 35 mph on your board. I dunno if I would've grabbed onto it like I did if I had footbag.
So without footbag, I've gotten stronger and in better shape, I've gotten a larger circle of friends, a girl, longboarding, and I think I'm definitely a happier person than I was freshman year. I don't know if it's for those reasons though. And would I have found those things regardless of footbag? Which is better, those things and no footbag, or footbag and a smaller chance at those things?

But why couldn't you have done those things while also being able to play footbag? Surely it doesn't take that much time out of your life....Unless you have a big group of footbag friends you hang with a lot?
I was injured for ~5 months and all I did instead was learn to juggle (which isn't nearly as much fun). Not too revolutionary, and the injury sucked overall. I'm kind of bitter over the lost time, cause I would be sooo much better now than I am, but what can you do?
Play an hour of footbag every other day, and surely you'll have plenty of time for your new hobbies too! (plus you hopefully stay injury free)

Not too much has happened in the past two weeks. I asked that girl out and now we're going out! So that's cool, but not really a huge deal because we might as well have been going out for the past two months. I also have been having a lot of dreams, extremely vivid ones. Another one was me and the Rochester Footbag Club which included a large middle school girl's volleyball team were all armed with laser shotguns and fighting off the Montreal Footbag Club which was just a bunch of clones of Ianek, Sebastian, and Matheui (spelling?).

Longboarding!
For anyone who knows what this shit is, I can now do the following slides:
coleman
180 toeside
180 heelside
switch 180 heelside
Going good. Getting them switch swirls midstring a couple times along with midstring symp swirls on strongside. Flip pixie is back to it's full strength that it was at before the injury. Torques are falling into place midstring much nicer. I'm also working barrages. Very close strongside where the bag just rolled off the toe and some close calls on flipside too. Barrages are a move I can see getting in about 2 sessions and then in 4 sessions be getting them midstring no problem. That's the type of move it feels like.
I did a footbag demo in my speech class and people loved it. I started with kicks and stalls, then described the history of footbag and my past so like jams I've gone to, then I went ahead with tiltless, BOP, showed individual moves telling the names, and then shredded hard guiltless. Very cool stuff. People were in awe. I was really happy that it went so well because it was pretty much the only time I've showed footbag to anyone not counting real close friends.

-I tried the milk gallon challenge at lunch at school about 3 weeks ago and got through a little over a half gallon before I walked to the bathroom and literally threw up ALLLL over the bathroom.

hey man, i know its been a while since your above mention about your friends getting into weed but some of my friends got into it maybe a year ago and some of them got over it, some of them still do it casually, both of which im fine with. but my other friends now plan their days around getting high and i can safely say that they are not the same, in a bad way. so just tell them to be careful.

Actually, the friends of mine who have always been closest to me have stopped almost completely, and whatever smoking the others do isn't interfering with whenever we chill, so everything's honky-dory. Pretty much everything else in my personal life is going great too. I've been having a great summer so far. Been mowing lawns and making lots of cash, hanging with my girlfriend, chilling with all my friends longboarding, playing Super Smash Bros. on N64, climbing every building we possibly can (I've been on the roof of almost all of the 18 school buildings in my town), and just about everything fun. I've been doing a lot of non-footbag exercise, but anything with legs that's non-footbag has been decreasing lately as I shred more.
Thanks to Jon Haber I looked up a bunch of these like yoga-ish gymnastic-ish things and have started working them which is a whole lot of fun and a lot of work on my upper body and doesn't get in the way of footbag. Here's the site I'm using for it's tutorials, def check it out at least to see the cool stuff I'll hopefully be able to do in the future!

Footbag session went well today. Worked mostly toe stuff getting my flip pixie completely up to speed and re discovering my long lost atomics which happen to be not too bad. It still sucks that I'm playing catch up and having to relearn some shit I used to be able to do before the injury, but oh well.
My girlfriend leaves tomorrow for 10 days so even though that'll kinda suck, it'll leave lotsa time for footbag hopefully.

All my friends (besides 2 not-the-closest-but-still-fairly-close friends) are out of town! So that leaves me with plenty of time to shred, work my handstands, school my longboarding, go out late cruising, and get caught by the cops past curfew and criminally trespassing on school grounds with a longboard in my hands. Good thing he never saw me longboarding or i could've gotten a fine along with that juvenile court summons...
Ugh.
The short of the story is that i ran into the biggest asshole cop ever.
I was out longboarding from around 10 and it was getting late. About 11:50. Curfew in my city for anyone under 18 is midnight. So I figure I'll just skate over to my high school where there's a drinking fountain, cuz I was getting parched, and then ride on home. I get to the water fountain and start to drink when I realize a cop is pulling up besides me and stops.
I continue drinking for about 2-3 minutes, one of the longest drinks of water in my life, hoping he'd go away. He didn't. He starts yelling at me bout where I came from, where I'm going, how old I am, blah blah blah blah. I look at my cell phone and it's 12:02.
Anyways he brings me over to his car and tells me I'm out past curfew. He starts taking my info down and then informs me I was also criminally trespassing on school grounds. "Oh no sir," I replied, recognizing his misunderstanding, "I was just getting a drink out of the water fountain." My optimistic smile faded quickly when he looked at me harshly and looked at me like i was a jackass. He starts to drive off and i say, "Sir, may i ask where we're headed?"
No response.
We ended up at my house, where I had to go wake up my mum. She wasn't mad, just wanted to go back to sleep. Right before the cop leaves he says, "Well, as far as I'm concerned I've filed your charges so the Franklin County Court System should be sending you your court summons in the next few days."
Anyways, that was 4-5 days ago and the summons hasn't come so hopefully it won't ever. My parents weren't mad. The bullshit about not being on school grounds makes me mad though cuz nobody knew that law existed. And picking me up for being out past curfew, 2 minutes after curfew's passed? Laaame.
Oh well, the worst that can happen is a few hours of community service, and that's seriously if the judge decides to go really, really harsh on me, if i even end up going to court.
Ugh.

I don't know how I ended up here but while I'm here...
Fuck (shitty) cops! The one time I was honest to a cop he tried to pin me with other stuff and I'm like woah dude, I admitted to the other shit but not to this! Long story. Hope that dumb stuff gets dropped.
Oh and bravo on attempting the milk challenge. You should try the CINNAMON challenge. A heaping teaspoon of cinnamon, not even a tablespoon, and try to swallow it without anything to drink. I'm not going to say the results of "fun", but it's pretty hilarious to watch other people do it.
