Hi Max!

My eye is getting better. Still see blurry on my right eye, but the doctor said it gets good.
Of course it's safe here in Vienna! I organized some safety stuff like a glock, ak47, bazooka, ... which I carry around now, just in case, you know  If you stay near me you'll be safe :D

Would be really cool if some Munich baggers come to a footbag-vienna style christmas-party since you missed the champs in septmber :)

haven't posted in a while...
.
.
i'm very busy right now with university. i've got a huge, huge exam coming up. criminal law. 1300 pages.

my footbag-course is going well. i hope that soon we'll have lots and lots of new players in vienna.

today i had a shred session with hanna in the basement of my appartment building.
no new trick.
a few new links though.
plo>plo  (my flip pixie set is finally getting better)
strong ss smear>flip datw>run
blender>blender  (also finally, i footed it the last 100 sessions 800 times, but never hit it)
blender>ps whirl
flip dod
21 flip whirls sealed with a hand-catch
smear>dod>pdx whirl>blender>pdx whirl>ss butt>pdx whirl>run

yeppp. can't wait to shred with alex on friday again. :P

my footbag-situation is not very good at the moment.
-my shoes are almost dead (they only consist of glue)
-my beloved ilja-bag is going to die real soon (the stitch is almost, almost broke)

today i practised with alex and tommy, the disc-freestyler, our show on friday.
i sucked again.
don't see a lot of improvement at the moment (besides friday where i had three super nice, hard and long runs).
my flip pixie set is finally getting better. it's really embarassing that my flip fairy is fine, but my flip pixie set sucks. so it's getting better now. hit flip magellan.
also my flip double dexes are getting better. my flip paradon was better than my strong one today. strange.
couldn't play hard today, because i twisted my ankle yesterday. fortunately this time it was my right one that i've never injured before.

good night.

mathias blau, the danish youngster, is in town! :D :D
so i've just had a shred session with him! mathias is so good! he's been playing for a year and can hit stuff like smog>porque or darkwalk and dark avenue (what a strange nickname)! 8O 8O 8O

it was a lot of fun!
first i thought i was going to die. 5 hours of sleep and too much alcohol the day before (yesterday alex and me had a footbag-show at a party where we got beer for free). i felt like i was gonna faint, so i had to take a little break (which is always a bad sign, because i never take breaks).
after playing for an hour i felt better.
i didn't have any long runs, because my endurance was bad, but it wasn't a bad session either.
my whirling set was really nice. i came close to whirr, but i've still got some problems with the second dex.
i've finally hit pdxdlo. (footed it a million times before)
blender>blender was really easy.
flip paradon>flip pdx whirl
fairy whirl>pdx whil>pdx blender
pdx blender is getting better now. i've hit it midstring a few time (always had problems to hit something out of it).

yepp. tomorrow's my next session with mathias. :D :D

okay, just had another session with mathias. this time i was feeling a lot better. my endurance was as good as usually. no breaks of course.

so the highlights were:
one run including plo>plo and flo>flo
pixie rake>dimwalk>run
pdx blender>pdx whirl
pdx whirl>pdx drifter>pdx whirl>run
parkwalk>pdx torque>pdx whirl>pdx blender

i think i forgot something. however i'm in a hurry.
see you.

nice stuff, Verena!!!

Ali and me went in the Roxy afterwards. I came home at ~6 in the morning. That was pretty hard :) Saturday evening I went to a birthday party and again came home at 6 in the morning :? Sunday I spent the whole day in my bed 8)

If my legs weren't hurting, I would have drunk less to be ready for a shred with Mathias. But since they still don't feel good I didn't care. Looks like I can't (shouldn't) shred Wednesday either :( Let's see...

At least I'm pretty sure now that's the patella string?? (sinew??) which is causing the pain on my upper end of the shin. Not being able to play footbag is really depressing

thanks a lot for the comment, tom! it's so nice to get comments and it's even nicer to get such nice ones! :D

.
.
since my last post, i've had two sessions with the footbag-vienna crew on wednesday and friday. my sister didn't just show up on wednesday and friday, but also on tuesday where my weekly footbag-course takes place. nice! i think she's finally getting hooked. soon she will be fully converted.
yesterday she almost hit her first mirage. once she can hit it, and she was very close, she will start to really like footbag. yes!

we've got a lot of new players in vienna now. like the players from wiener neustadt which is an hour away from vienna recently have all moved to vienna because of their studies. then there's another new player who's in my footbag-course. his name is andreas and he's really motivated and talented. i think he's just ordered his first pair of lavers. also, there are two other people in my footbag-course who are really motivated and very ambitious. soon i'm gonna teach them their first stalls.

on wednesday i played alone a lot and just schooled my double dexes and pixies. i've finally, finally hit barfly. so this was good news.

yesterday my legs felt really strong and great, but i couldn't really get into shredding. like my warming up was good. i always do the same stuff...like mirages (a combination of ss mirages and mirages)x40 or so, then mirage>legover repeat, then clipper>clipper, infinities, pdx mirages, osis' and lots of bops. then i do some whirl drills and hit like whirl>infinity>repeat or whirl>whirl>infinity repeat. i always get lots of contacts. i also always drill pdx whirl>ss butterfly>repeat and got 15 pdx whirls in that combo once.

however. yesterday sucked, because i knew that i could have hit new tricks and combos, but it just didn't work. so i schooled my double dexes again. i tried to hit 6 pdx whirls, but always dropped on the fourth. some of my attempts were really good, so i think i'll soon hit more than six.
my stepping set is really bad at the moment. i'm really paranoid about a slurry stepping set, so i really work on that. my strong stepping is okay, but my flip stepping is really bad at the moment. i don't know why my stepping got so bad all of a sudden.

i tried to hit some combos in the end and succeeded to hit rev. swirl>ripstein>blender. i decided to show it to alex and hit it first try for him. :)
in the end i tried fairy swirling set and got a really high one. i've gotta school it a lot, but i think it's totally possible to hit fairy ripstein.
i also had a few whirling sets up to my hip.

have a nice weekend. gotta take a break for two days.

hey verena, don't know if you remember me, but i roomed with schubi at worlds 04 and we seen each other quite of few times.

Its awesome to see that your sister is getting psyched about footbag, my brother played alot when he was younger, wish he still played now... but also a great feeling that I'm 10x better than he ever was  (he is 7 years older than me)

I'm sure your stepping set will come around, everyone has those periods where something just doesn't work for them... pain in the butt.. but it eventually comes back. Props on that nice combo, definitely try repeating that 8O !!

good luck with frankenstein (fairy swirling ss swirl), hopefully I'll get to see it in person sometime soon.

Just watched The Art of the Game! 8O Some stick stuff in there for sure :D

Last sessions were fun although I couldn't really play. Last wednesday was more a 'new felix bag break in'-session since I just kicked a bit and played some fresbee freestyle. Friday was nice! I just did some short tiltless runs and it felt good and I was pretty confident that I can shred it up this week. But now I'm not sure about this. We'll see wednesday :? Damn legs :x

I gave some tips to the guys from Wiener Neustadt, who hopefully show up more often to our trainings. I mostly tried to teach Anita the mirage, but I'm the worst footbag teacher you could imagine. It took me half an hour to figure out what she actually was doing wrong  Still she was pretty close and I'm sure she'll get it next time :)

@aric: thanks for the comment. :D to be honest i don't actually know who you are. like there were 6 people in schubi's room and i just know that they were all so very nice, so i'm looking forward to hanging out with you some time again. maybe this year's worlds in germany?

.
.
yesterday i had a pretty nice session. first shred session in a long time. the last times i played it was more practising tricks than shredding. and yesterday alex was shredding again (i his knee doesn't hurt now). it was so much fun. he hit fairy double legover like nothing.
and he repaired my ilja-bag!! thanks a lot, alex!
i didn't have an excuse to play bad anymore, so i had to play well.
.
.
on wednesday i had a really crappy session, nevertheless i hit two cool things:
flip pixie whirl
paradon bsos

yesterday i just had some really nice and hard strings. barfly felt a lot better. also i hit lots of pixie rakes midstring. they feel so stylish.
finally hit flip smear>fear>string. my flip pixie is getting a lot better now.
also, i've hit seven pdx whirls and the eigth one rolled off my foot.

i just had a little practise session by myself.
my legs felt really strong and my endurance was really good.

.
.
in the beginning i hit 109 infinities.
after that i've hit a few nice combos (not really hard, but kind of stylish):
-pixie rake>whirl
-pixie osis>pdx whirl bsos
-smear>datw bsos
-dimwalk>pdx whirl>barfly

at the moment i'm really working on my variety and nice combos. my flip pixie is getting so much better. also my double dexes are getting really good on both sides.
i don't care about hitting new tricks at the moment.

okay. i've gotta eat something and then study again.

109 butterflies!!!!! That's crazy. It's more than the double of my record (53). PROPS!!!

Session on friday was nice. It was my 1st real shred session for more than one month. No pain while shredding, felt good.
Most concepts still work. Strong spinning got a lot better and I managed to hit spinning ducking clipper :)
Flip spinning is worse than ever. I cannot set the bag stright up :?

See you tomorrow, Verena!

props for the 109 butters

props for the spinning ducking clipper
quite strange that spinning is so hard on flipside, huh?
When I see experts spin it looks so eeeaaasy - I cannot understand my lack of skill and feel better that there are other people too who are not able to spin like a screw.

keep going vienna

Thanks Jochen!
Just came home from a session in Verenas shred room. Tried flipside spinning again, but it doesn't get better. I know what I'm doing wrong, but I don't know how exactly I can do it better :? Well, practice I guess...
I'm currently working on coming back to my shred level before I was injured, but that's hard at the moment. My knee has something against it
Still got some stuff:

pixie rake > drifter
pixie legover x7
diving clipper x6 (fs x2  )
flipside dyno first time :D

Are you kidding? A footbag-vienna event without a party? :) :D
More information on the kickmas-jam will be posted soon!

Today's training session with Phillip, Dom, Denise, Bernhard, Tommy and me was okay. Unfortunatly the Lenneis sisters couldn't come, but I'm looking forward to see them on friday's session in all their freshness!!! :)
My legs felt better while shredding. While warming up with my not fully broken in felix-bag I've got a new osis record: 17!!! it's not that much but pretty good for me.
weaving clipper > ducking clipper bs (I really tried the drill but couldn't get it)
one run which surprised me a bit, cause today I wanted to go easy without too much sets, but then something like this happenend:
dimwalk - ripwalk - ripwalk - blur - dimwalk - ripwalk - stepping ss legover - pixie ss clipper - handcatch

Denise was a bit injured at her hip and couldn't play 100%. Phillip is getting better and better. I need to tell Dominik that he should skool his basics :)

good morning.

about kick-mas-jam: i think on monday the event information will be online.
i can just tell you that it will be a lot of fun and you shouldn't miss it.
i'm especially looking forward to seeing the munich crew and hania (no excuse this time!)!

.
.
didn't play a lot this week.
my exam is in three days! wahhh. i've really gotta pass it. if i don't, i'll loose a few months and can't do my other exams that are coming up next.
on tuesday i had my footbag course like usually. there weren't a lot of people there, but this one girl was really motivated and i thought her her first toe stalls! that felt good! :)
so on wednesday i couldn't go to our training session, because of my studies and my legs were really tired (and i was too).
yesterday i came to our footbag-vienna-training session though. first i was really tired (lack of sleep and nervousness) and felt really bad. i only took a very short break, took it easier and continued to play.
i was really happy with my flip pixies! they are getting really nice now!
i've hit:
-pixie rake>double legover>run (very stylish in my opinion)
-run with toe touble legover and pdx whirl>double legover
-a run with flip smear, ss smear>flip dimwalk and plo>plo. yeah!

Hey, what's up Klemens!
Welcome to the wonderful world of modified!!!

I'm also not satisfied with my game lately, but that's cause of my knees/end of the shin. No real progress since 6 weeks :(

Well, yesterday I've hit weaving clipper > ducking clipper rpt. and a really long bop-run. Apart from that nothing special.

Good luck with your exam, Verena.
