Newton's laws. You have to follow them, unless you can get your legs to move faster than the speed of light (but would they actually be moving, considering you wouldn't be able to see them?)
I agree with the (PSU) tag discussion - It makes it nice and easy to see what everyone has been up to over the summer, and shows the progress of our club as a whole. Nathan is late to the party...
Anyway, hang in there - the empty apartment problem will solve itself soon - have you thought of doing low impact activities in your free time (light jogging around campus, swimming) - right now I am spacing out each footbag session day with a day or two with distance runs or some tennis and my legs are not sore or hurting at all. Just some ideas.

1 week til I can play! Plus, good news for PA Footbag Scene
Thanks Ivan. Can't wait to see you this week man.
So, everyone in the footbag community. I've got some really great news for PA footbag. News that's giving me shivers up my spine and goosepimples on my arms....
Some of you may remember Zach Hoffa. For those who don't know, he was a very good friend/shred partner of mine, until we had a falling out, almost 2 years ago. Last year we made up and became good friends again. But then he hadn't really talked in a while... Just recently we were talking on facebook and realized how much we missed hanging out and kicking with each other. We were also talking about how badly Zach wanted to start kicking again. He has actually been playing a little from time to time. I know he could wipe the rust off in a few sessions, too. But the thing is, he has no one to play with, nothing to keep him going. I realized this sounded similar to Jackson's story. Then I realized how closely they live to each other (about an hour, but halfway is just 30 minutes!) So I hooked them up as weekly shred partners! Each one of them has crazy potential, but they just needed a shred partner. So there's a plus 2 for PA footbag scene!
I've been on the phone with both of them in the last half hour and they are both extremely excited for this. I'm like so stoked right now. Hoping Zach and Jackson bring their footblogs back from the dead.
Man, today just got so much better.

A Start To A Return To Start Over!
Hello tripped out new version of modified that looks fancy as HELL... and very blue.... VERY blue.
Anyway, I'll just cut to the chase... PSU Footbag Club picked up ONCE AGAIN another new player. Ivan and I were going to Walmart and one of his friends needed some stuff so I said I'd pick him up... Then after shoppings, we took him to our place and Ivan demonstrated footbag, after mentioning it to him in the car a bit. He tried some toe stalls.... BS and b2b... then inside stalls... bs.. He was hooked and wouldn't put the bag down. it was great. Ivan and I were yelling like crazy when we saw how much crank he had and how easily he could hit basics. He's got WEIRD crank... You'll see it in a video eventually. Take my word on it.
Anyway, we had a session with him, Marc, Ivan, and me. Ivan hit some cool stuff that he'll blog about later, Marc hit Ducking clipper from toe ALMOST BSOS... And some Gyro Clippers and stuff... James was really figuring out inside stalls and toe stalls... Ivan and I said we are convinced once he gets the concept of magic hops, he will start to get really good.
And yes... I had highlights! For the first time in about 6 weeks... HIGHLIGHTS!!!!! HAHAHAHA YAYYYYYY!!!!!!
Smart highlights though.. for once
Smart Highlights:
Sorry Jay, had to do this too... 100 Alternating Inside Kicks with perfect form, 5 times through. Jay posted on Facebook earlier that he is going to start playing footbag from the ground up... I can understand how much that can help him in the long run... I can only imagine what his form will look like then... Out of every Guiltless player playing today, I feel like I'm the one who needs this the most... I realized that my form is very helter skelter and so damn inconsistent... Sure I can hit Ripped Warrior x2 with bad form... but that's not as cool as hitting Ripped Warrior with perfect form x20 or something...
I can honestly say, I have NEVER done 100 alternating inside kicks... I have done like 50, then it got out of control and I had to toe kick or something... But these were almost all with perfect (or as close to perfect as I can do right now) form.. Like with my old inside kicks, I used to kick, switch, kick.. and I'd be turned in the opposite direction from where I started... Tonight, I did MOST of them completely facing one direction. I can already feel how having more control over Inside Kicks will help me in the long run.
Leg feels good
I think getting it used to Freestyle as slowly as possible is key for me right now.
Here's to relearning everything I skimped on...

Re: Nick Polini: Restarting Footbag Is FUN!!! :D (PSU)
Hello very blue, trippy modified with Worlds advertisement on the top banner!
So as I've said, really don't wanna get injured again, so I'm restarting footbag, like Jay. 100% from the top. Today, I did more basic basics while skype seshing with Nadiah. She just drilled toe delays. Her form is getting way better.
Highlights:
Alternating Inside Kicks x100, 5x again (This time, way easier. I got to 100 a few times in a row. Just need to stop the spin on the bag.
"Evan Gatesman Toe Flick/Kick" x35 (I was always terrible at these. Found a big hole in my game already... I couldn't hit x10 at first, very apparent now, why my toe game sucks. I will keep doing these til I can get to 100 with no spin on the bag)
Jay Boychuk Toe Stalls x58 (That thing Jay does when he scoops his toe stalls and they roll right off his toe, straight up in the air... yeah, those. So hard, but I can do them to the point where (I FEEL like) I look similar to Lon Smith's "lazy/laid back" style. They are so cool. I will keep doing these until I can get to 100 easily.
Session tomorrow too

Awesome.
You're going to be sooo good one day, Nick.
This sounds so great. I want to do it. Just my luck, though, my back feels sucky just as I posted in his blog that it's been great for months. Not serious sucky, but gonna skip footbag this week and maybe next sucky. I'm excited to see how you progress from the ground up after your injury. It must have felt glorious to play again! Especially if it was outside (which it doesn't sound like it was) -- something about a first session outside after significant time off is the best feeling in the world.
Also, like you I've had trouble with consistency on toe flick kicks. If I try to do them without any other inside kicks or anything, I feel good if I get past 20. It's so much harder to save if it gets out of control. I'm gonna work exactly what you two are working when I can next. Can't wait!

Re: Nick Polini: Recovering From Injuries Is FUN!!! :D (PSU)
Yo Thanks for the words, Erik. I don't even care about being REALLY good anymore, I just wanna have fun playing Guiltless with some tripless and fearless, AND ALSO GET MY SHIT CONSISTENT. SO yeah
So far away right now lol Your bathtub raises exercise has really helped man, man. Odd but since I spent more time on my flipside raises, my flip calf muscle is more jacked than my strong side???
Goofy as hell.
So first off, I've been having madd trouble with Physics this summer semester... I got an F on the first test
So that was hellish. But I just got my 2nd exam back and I got a fucking 81!!!!
I'm pretty fucking stoked. I looked at it and I scored the 11th highest grade in a class of 30
I gotta thank Jay and Ivan for the help with studying/homework.
Speaking of Ivan. I taught him how to stitch and he's fucking hooked lol he made 2 bags already and they're REALLY FUCKING GOOD. He's doing another now and says he's got so many sick ideas for designs. Can't wait to see more of them.
Anyway, footbaggggg. Yay
Had a skype sesh with Kevin (Turkey) Hoagie. He hit some gnasty shit, like Phasing Gyro Mirage, and Phasing Whirl (I think he hit that one) and Twinspinning Mirage. That kid is getting good.
My highlights from that session and I kicked a bit after:
Gyro Inside> Orbit Inside Delay> ss Clipper> Reverse Swirl rpt (request from Kevin)
Alternating Jay Toes x 166!!!! Could only hit like 50 the other day. Pretty stoked on this.
Toe Flick x68
Inside Delay> Muted op Clipper> ss Inside Delay> Muted op Clipper rpt x 10 or so contacts with little excess body movement
ss Clipper Kick (strong) x10, (weak) x8 (Practicing more of these later on) I feel like this is a key thing to be great at.
From those clipper kicks, I realized that I catch my clipper TOO LOW! Little did I know, I was about to discover a HUGE hole in my game...
Fucking NINJA Clippers! >_> (Clippers caught higher up and delayed more and with a softer catch, making literally NO NOISE! HOLY SHIT DUDE. I have never felt my clippers work so well before. NO NOISE. Literally. Pretty amazed by that shit. Seriously will be coming back to these very soon. Give these a try. You'll be pretty amazed if you don't do them like that already.
I dunno how many, but a buttload of ss Inside Delay bs with and without magic hops, good form and good absorption with the support leg.
Pendulum> Dustpan rpt (Kinda sloppy. Will work on this one.)
Jay Toe> Xbd Rake BSOS in a kickless string
So that was fun, ESPECIALLY the Jay Toes. Man, those are so fun to do. And i think they are really going to help my toe game... well... GIVE ME a toe game finally lol I have no toe game atm
It's kinda cool, but restarting footbag has been so mentally appealing and logical to me. I never TOTALLY understood why having a good foundation was important until now. Going back and relearning everything I already learned with the knowledge I already possess in my head has actually linked small tricks to big tricks and long dope strings. Like it sounds dumb, and obvious as hell, because like, if you cant hit clipper, you probably can't hit Mobius... but it goes further than that, and into microscopic detail. If you can hit ok clippers, then maybe a Mobius is feasible for you, but if you have your clippers so finely dialed with the utmost attention to fine details in the form of them and the execution, then you will have such a sick Mobius. Like Flawless.. Anyway, this might already make sense to you, but redoing footbag is helping me FEEL that understanding.
Also a cool footbag story bro..
So a long time ago, I was a regular user of a port2port file sharing program called, "Soulseek". I was a HUGE Ska fanatic. Actually, literally had the biggest Ska collection on the internet. Long story short, on Soulseek, I met this one kid named Warren Allen. We talked here and there and he was in this really good Ska band, Trutones. Then we became facebook friends... Soon after, I found out about footbag and quit Soulseek and took on footbag as my life
Just the other day, Warren messages me. I hadn't talked to him in a really long time. His message was, "Hey, I was wondering about the brocka mod." I was stunned, to say the least. Apparently, he found Justin Dale and Reilley a little while back and he now plays freestyle in Washington with RCS! Crazy we met up again like that. We've been talking for the past few days. He's got crazy crank, which is why he needed the brocka mod. And his game is sounding like its shaping up to be very similar to mine, so I'm going to be guiding him toward Guiltless, since I think I probably know what he'll be good at in the future. Can't wait to see him get sick.
Ok, enough blogging for now.
It's nice to be a part of footbag again
I am going to make a egg now. bye.

Re: Nick Polini: Relearning Footbag Is FUN!!! :D (PSU)
Crazy small world sometimes. Yeah, we recruited Warren at Folklife along with a few others and he seems to have the bug. He already had circle kicker experience and could do multiple atw in a row when we met him. I haven't seen him in about a month so I don't know if he still is but he was improving really fast. And yeah, he has madd crank. He does live over an hour from us though so I hope he stays interested. Although I think he has a friend who lives close to him who has also been "bitten".
Good luck with your re-training, it sounds like you're having fun with it.

Re: Nick Polini: Relearning Footbag Is FUN!!! :D (PSU)
Dan, Yeah Warren has been kicking a lot, I've heard. He is actually supposed to visit RCS soon, apparently. He filmed some stuff yesterday and is uploading it today I think.
So today, I had a session with Marc and Greg. I gave them each homework, which I called "ABC Clippers". Pretty much do clippers with 3 set heights. A is low (swirl-height), B is medium (around waist, whirl-height), and C is high (ducking-height). Told them to practice that a lot. So I think their stuff is going to look great by the next time we kick if they do their homework.
Highlights:
Toe flick x 70 (New record. 100 is so close.)
My "Inside delay> Muted clipper" drill is getting much easier. I can go through a good handful of repeats without moving much/at all. Sometimes I put a Reverse Swirl after my Clipper.
So I wanted to show PSU's progress as a club right now...
Nathan: plays regularly/semi-regularly in Colorado. Sounds like he's really been upping his game.
Nadiah: Getting ATW's bs still. Clippers are solid. Also dexing Mirages, but not getting how to hit them quite yet. I will help her this weekend. She is awesome and I love her and I will be seeing her tomorrow! <3
Ivan: Strong tiltless. Hitting Blurs, Blizzards, Stepping Legovers, Atomic Clippers, and working on Butterflys. His shit is looking really good.
Ryan: Hitting Mirages and Pdx Mirages, Legovers, and Clippers. Still practicing and improving. Much more consistency with everything, I've heard.
Luke: Hitting Legovers more consistently, and hitting Clippers bs now. Also getting Mirages bs.
Marc: Tonight, he hit Osis Bsos, a run with Ducking Clipper Bsos and flip Osis then drop on strong Osis. His Osii are getting really strong and dialed.
Greg: Hit Butterfly BSOS the other day, getting Clipper bs more consistently.
George: Been playing with Corey Hahalis in Allentown recently. He hit his first DATW, and Whirl the other day, along with a run with Reverse Swirl in it twice.
James: Haven't played with him for a bit, but going to kick with him soon.
Ben: Haven't had a chance to sesh with him yet because of his work schedule. But he keeps texting me that he wants to meet up, so that's always a good thing.
Nick: I suck
I can only do toe stalls and inside stalls... for the time being
Shin splints feeling good
Sadly, I feel that Miguel, Garrett, and Stefan are not going to take the sport seriously enough to practice regularly. But whatever, we tried..
If that's the case, I want my Lavers back from Miguel and my Quantums back from Garrett!

Re: Nick Polini: Relearning Footbag Is FUN!!! :D (PSU)
HI!
Nadiah visited for the weekend, which was really really really really really really nice to see her again. Sadly she left early this morning, so we didn't have a whole lotta time, but it was really nice to just be with her again.
Anyway, kicked a bit earlier in the day, just basic stuff, then kicked a bit at night with Nadiah through Skype. Nadiah worked on toe stalls.
Highlights:
Reverse Swirl x10 BSOS! Really stoked on that. First time getting up to 10 on each side, and I can't believe I had enough in me to BSOS them.
Inside Stall> Muted Clipper x10> other side x10 (Going to try to get this up to 100 eventually)
Gyro Pickup> Toe ss Reverse Swirl rpt.
Dyno> Reverse Swirl rpt.
Blender x4
My old record was x3
Going to try to get this up to at least x10
Messed around a bit and hit my first Reverse Swirling Blender. Kinda neat, but I really wanna concentrate on basics. Wasn't as satisfying as hitting rev swirl x 10.
Tomorrow is dedicated to Physics :\ After this week, I only have one more week, then my final, then FREEDOM...for a few weeks, then back to school :/
My leg is still feeling pretty good. So I'm thankful for that.
GOOD NIGHT!

Re: Nick Polini: Relearning Footbag Is FUN!!! :D (PSU)
Yo bitch.
So, I am almost finished with summer Physics. Thank god. But one thing I wanted to confess about...
On my way home from class riding mu bike, I saw this kid pass me on his bike.. didn't think anything of it... Then he turned and I looked at his shoes... BLACK/WHITE LAVERS WTF DO I DO? Do I look dumb and start going off about footbag asking him if he plays like I usually do? No, I just figure the kid doesn't kick since they weren't modded... Then I keep riding... MAYBE HE KICKS AND DOESN"T KNOW ABOUT FOOTBAG! *turns bike around and pedals down an alleyway rapidly* FUCK. He Just turned another corner. Kinda felt like I lost a big fish. I hope I see him again so I can ask him. Anyway, that was bugging me.
So I kicked yesterday in my apartment. Just drilled a few things and also did more basics work.. Got some drills that I'm happy with..
Highlights:
Swirling Mirage> Toe ss Butterfly rpt. (Hell yeah, swirling sets)
Drifter> Reverse Swirl rpt.
Realized that my favorite trick of all time is probably Pixie Muted Swirl... then realized I can't hit it flipside. So I drilled Toe Muted Op Swirl for a while.. I can hit Pixie Mute Swirl and Toe Mute Op Swirl every fucking time but I can barely manage Toe Muted Op Swirl flipside.. I can FEEL the muscle memory for my strong side with that trick... It's liek I literally can't miss it. My legs know exactly what to do. So I'll be drilling this a lot.
Inside> Muted Clipper drills
Toe ss Swirl bs (non-symp) never hit it on either side non-symp
In other news: Dale, from Shred Global, recently recruited me to be a SG Manager! So I'm now helping manage a footbag site! FUCK YES! Also, we're working on a footbag project that will hopefully expand our community. He is crediting me with the creative aspects of the project. So I've been hard at work on that... Also, if you guys could check out http://www.shredglobal.com/ and look in the move vault, and any trick you see that there is not a video for, go ahead and film yourself doing that trick and upload it to [email protected] Anything would be appreciated. We're trying to get a FULL repertoire of freestyle tricks together so new players can go to the site and just LEARN.
I have a ton of new ideas for footbag in general, but I will keep brainstorming and the post a bunch of them once I get them sorted out.
THIS JUST IN: Ryan Morris just texted me and said he hit his first Butterfly
Also, Corey Hahalis just texted me and said he hit his first Whirl
Noobs ftw.

I have a ton of new ideas for footbag in general, but I will keep brainstorming and the post a bunch of them once I get them sorted out.
THIS JUST IN: Ryan Morris just texted me and said he hit his first Butterfly

Re: Nick Polini: Relearning Footbag Is FUN!!! :D (PSU)
I only notice because it's the biggest form issue I am working on. Getting the right arm to stay in front of your body. Many of us tend to let it fall behind the plane of our body. Your left arm doesn't do it. Good to practice osis's with that form in mind, make sure the arm turns with the body rather than leaving it behind which puts you a little off balance. Fine for zooming, but otherwise the arms/wrists should not end up behind you at any point. That's often why I tape my right wrist as to keep this mistake in the forefront of my mind when shredding. I think it's junior who is a perfect example of arm form. Both his arms stay in front of him at all times.

I think your form is great. The one that is is distracting and maybe throwing you off is your wild arms. I think everything else looks really smooth, but maybe you could learn to control your arms. If you're still working on your basic stuffs maybe think about arms while doing inside stalls and basic kicks and stuff.

Re: Nick Polini: Relearning Footbag Is FUN!!! :D (PSU)
Thanks for the tips, guys. I've been utilizing them.
So I went to Boston Throwdown this weekend with Mike Toolan, Corey Hahalis, Nadiah, and Jackson and I learned a few things...
1) Gatesman is an all-knowing footbag god and i have learned a lot about form from him.
2) Kevin can actually pronounce "R"s and when he does, it sounds funny
3) Rat blood is tough to get off of your Lavers.
4) Car rides with the PA crew are so fucking fun. We laughed for just about 5 hours straight.
5) Kevin is a magnet to ass hole children and crackheads on bikes.
6) My fatha is in fact a pizza.
Highlights from Beantown:
Swirling DLO
Swirling Mirage is now easy on BS ???
Best run of the weekend: Long string with Ripped Warrior, Mobius BSOS, and some other good things.
Mobius b2b once on Saturday, 5 times on Sunday within an hour.
Spinning Ducking Osis> Spinning Ducking Osis> Mobius... hit it 3 times and strung out of it once
Blender x4
Osis> Reverse Swirl rpt x10 or more! In a circle with just Doug. Very surprised. I couldn't drop the bag... I was in this zone where the bag was in my complete control. Felt amazing
Chokin' in circle comp \o/ ...Never a'fucking'gain
Jackson got into the finals of Intermediate Circle! Nadiah learned Orbit bs and Butterfly
Then today I had my first session since Bawston...
Highlights:
Basicks work
Floating Inside Delays bs
Working on fixing my Strong side Gyro Clipper
It's getting better... slowly.
Flipside Mobius with a frozen Osis and then Flipside Mobius with frozen Osis> Mobius ... Some of you might know what that means
Mobius x3 is right around the corner...
Twirl> Spinning Clipper rpt
Flapper> op Flapper x6
Cloud Kick> op cloud kick x5
DOD BSOS That isn't like me... I don't BSOS double downs.
Whirly Barrage bs
A handful of DDDs???? I seriously could not hit those before today @_@
My first Blurrier???? Wtf? I swear, just watching Evan hit a bunch of Double Downs helped me get better at them.
So glad I went to Bawston. Amazing time. Great to meet all the new players of players I haven't met. Thanks again to Pete and Hogan for hooking it up.
Edit: Oh yeah, today Ivan Iakimenko (my room mate this year/footbag student of not even 1 full year) hit Blurry Massacre... His first 7 ADD....
There's nothing else to say about that, really. You just kinda shit your pants and then wanna puke. WTF Ivan? WTF...

Re: Nick Polini: Relearning Footbag Is FUN!!! :D (PSU)
So I had an interesting night...
First of all... I had a session, but since my legs were hurting from my session last night, I just drilled a lot of basics and experimented a wee bit... (Not "splinty" hurting though, thankfully... just sore.)
Highlights:
Swirl> Reverse Swirl rpt x5 bs
Shit load of backwards pedaling toe stalls with good form
Frigidosis (Muted) x 20 strong, x10 weak (upping that on flip next session)
Learned "ankle flick" style toe delays... Hit 31 alternating. Will keep practicing these.
Bunch of Inside Stalls
Part of Hogan's Clipper Drill (video below) Very pleased with that. Certainly set a record for Flip ss Clipper.
Inside stall> Muted clipper drill, this time without bending the support knee at all.
Front Sole Delay> ss Butterfly & ss Legover
Learned Double Knee Bump bs Pretty cool little trick that I think I'd like to start incorporating midrun..
Alternating Wraps with good posture
Alternating Walkovers with good posture
Doof! & Anchor BSOS (Video below)
Doof & Anchor BSOS:

Part of Hoagie Clipper Drill...

Oh and while I was doing the Frigidosis drill, something attacked me from out of the sky! It was a bat! In my apartment??? Just didn't make sense. I don't know a bat could have gotten in here... but I guess I'm wrong because it did
Pretty awesome, especially since my major is Wildlife Biology. A normal person would have been flipping shit, but I had my video camera in my hand and was recording the whole time, as it dove and dipped just above my head. It was so cool. I'll try to upload video of that sometime soon. Physics Final in 2 days!!!! Gotta study like crazy :\
Peace.

Nick. There was a bat in OUR apartment. what the hell have you done since I was gone?!?
Haha, as long as that thing doesn't crap on me as I sleep its cool I guess...
Nice drills by the way. I also liked the last highlight - I expect to see more of those this year.

Hope you expect to see more bats this year too, because there will be PLENTY! >:B
So footbag has been pretty good for me today... Let me start by saying, my neighbor runs a karate dojang and he covers his floors in the dojang with foam mats... I remembered that the other day... FOCKING A!... THAT IS A GOOD! So I talked to him today and he said he had a few laying around for me to look at. He brought one out for me later on and I tried it out. DAMN. It absorbs the impact of every landing. Too awesome... My legs took to that slab of foam like it was their mother's chocolate covered tit. Stepping felt so easy on it... Atomic felt super easy on it... Pixies, Fairies.. fucking everything dude!!! That little slab of foam called to me and was like, "You should order 4 of me and then bring us up to your apartment at PSU and you can play footbag on us and junk"I took it's advice. I told my neighbor that I wanted to order 4 of them. It was a little expensive, but totally worth it. They should get to me by Monday. For once, I had a huge session today with no shinsplint reprocussion. I am a very fucking happy camper.
Highlights:
Some of the longest Guiltless runs I've ever hit
PS Whirl was easy on both sides!!! Nice cushioned landing... I was not afraid to land on my flipside for once.
New 5 ADD: Toe Symposium Torque... Almost flipside too. Landing was nice and cushy
I can't wait til I have my own!!!!!!!!!!
Oh also... Tomorrow, I plan on making an appointment with a Rubenfeld Synergy therapist. If you don't know what that is, it's like this specialist who does a sort of holistic healing that links the mind with the body and then they can cure any pain in your body throught this linkage.
This lady has cured both my Dad and my Mom. Well, my Dad's was more permanent... My Mom had to get surgery down the road but she said it worked for a few months.
My dad and uncle had gone fishing with a group of friends a few thanksgivings ago (I was actually invited to go, but it was too cold, so I declined, thankfully) and, long and the short of it is, they were all crossing this bridge next to a dam and my Dad's friend, Mario, slipped on black ice and fell into the hypothermic waters below. He got sucked into the dam and my uncle jumped in after him, but the water was too cold and he was nowhere to be seen. They had to give up, or else we would have lost my uncle too. Mario drowned. A few weeks later, my Dad developed this LITERALLY paralyzing pain in his leg that wouldn't go away, no matter how hard he tried. I remembered hearing cries from downstairs one night, then i walked out of bed and saw my Dad at the bottom of the stairs laying on the floor, crying. He was soon recommended Rubenfeld Synergy for his pain. He spent a bit of time with the lady and after a few sessions, she helped him release the pain from his leg. It never came back. He sold me on the idea and told me that I should call her and see if she could help me with my shinsplints. I really think it's gonna work for me. I'll be sure to blog about my experience.
Also, I watched 2 good movies recently... 1) "Rubber" is a movie about a tire named Robert, that rolls around a desert using psychokinetic powers to blow up bunnies, birds, and even humans with it's mind. Amazing movie, especially if you're into osing a few braincells after watching a movie or just not really knowing what to do or say after you finish a movie.Kinda like Psycho... except the killer was a tire. 2) "The Big Year" was a great movie about a few individuals that are trying to see the most species of birds throughout an entire year. It was actually really similar to how most of us view footbag. They do it for fun, they don't get paid, and not many people understand or respect their hobby. At one point, one character's friend calls it "Bird Watching" and the birder looks at him in a disgusted way and says, something like "actually, it's called "Birding"." It reminded me of Hackysack vs. Footbag
Been stitching more orders too.
Um, yeah, so that's it

Re: Nick Polini: Relearning Footbag Is FUN!!! :D (PSU)
SHINjured once again.
This is my last time fucking around with Shinsplints.. I (hope to) promise you this. I have been doing a lot for them. Really sucks not being able to play and being in one of the biggest footbag clubs in the states. I'm now the mat boy.. I just bring the shred mats to sessions for everyone and I watch them kick. PSU club has been playing weekly. We're constantly having new people join our group of freestylers. 3 new guys have joined our crew in the last 2 weeks. Ben, Jared, and Dylan. One new guy might stop by the session today at 4 and check it out because I found him with a footbag in his hand and demonstrated some atws and clippers and he said he would check it out today. The ShredHaus is doing well. Nathan and I both got jobs at Pita Pit. Nate is an in-store guy and I'm a delivery boy. Ivan makes microchips and shit with acid and shit. I've been thinking about picking up freestyle frisbee just to tide me over until I can footbag again. It has always appealed to me. I wanna play more than ever. I promised myself that I am going to start playing much much smarter when I do start playing again. Oh, we have a footbag party/social for our club every Saturday, which has been pretty fun. We just have a few beers and play 4 square in our livingroom. I'm not sure if I'll be going to East Coasts or not. I won't have enough cash, unless our club gets funding from Penn State. If I do go, I won't be kicking, which, just the thought of that upsets me. Nadiah and I are still doing well. She hasn't kicked for a bit partially because I haven't been kicking and because she's been busy, but we're both still super happy with each other. I took Nadiah and Nate herping with me the other day, which has become a new serious hobby of mine. Essentially, herping is when you just strap on chest waiters and search a bog/marsh/pond/wetland area for frogs, salamanders, turtle/snakes. They both really enjoyed it and Nadiah even bought her own tall rubber boots, so she can walk further into the marshy abysses with me. Hope Nate comes again and I hope Ivan joins us soon. Anyway, yeah, that's really all there is... I can't wait to start playing footbag again.
I think this might be the least energetic post I have ever made in my blog. Sorry guys, they should get better once I'm amped on playing again and able to play without pain. It was about this time last year when my first signs of injury showed up... It will be around this time this year when I can start reliving a part of my life that I haven't lived in a while.

Re: Nick Polini: Relearning Footbag Is FUN!!! :D (PSU)
Sorry to hear you are injured again. One of the hardest things in footbag, is limiting yourself for the good of your body. When I saw this in your last post:
For a couple years (07-09) my right knee didn't feel great, and I realized I couldn't keep playing the way I was accustomed, without it getting worse. Though it was hard, I slowly and consciously changed my style so it had a lot less symposium, fewer double downs/blenders, and instead used more ducks and spins. After a couple years, my knee got better, and I can now use those components without pain, but I'm still conscious to not overdo them. Now, shin pain is different than knee pain, so you'll likely have to adjust your game in different ways than I did, but I wanted to give an example that change is sometimes necessary, often hard, but usually pays off. If I were in your position, I'd take a couple months off. Once you come back, stick to tiltless for a couple weeks, then guiltless, etc. But more than anything, I'd make a point to not play too long/hard in any given session, and have mandated rest days. I think laying off symposium entirely would also be a good idea.
Hope you can make it to East Coasts. Not playing at a tourney can be tough, but I'm sure there'll be foursquare and fun hanging out. And yeah, if PSU can pay for your trip, all the more reason to go.
Heal up Nick.
...I was wondering why you were pushing your shins so hard, so soon after injury. But I know how it can be hard to limit your session time and trick choices, especially after taking time away from the sport.F[uns]tylin' Eclectic wrote:PS Whirl was easy on both sides!!! That sounds like a lot of fun. That'd be especially fun as a pre-party, to get yourself pumped to go out on the town. I think it's awesome you have such a strong scene going at PSU now.F[uns]tylin' Eclectic wrote: footbag party/social for our club every Saturday, which has been pretty fun. +1 to what dr. somolinos said.
i'm glad your finding enjoyment in other things, thats pretty key when it comes to overcoming injuries. I remember sitting in the docs office like 2 years ago when i had a fracture reading about a WNBA player who had the same injury I did and her thoughts on it. she was super devasted by the injury at first (i cant remember if it was her first fracture or not) but she loved basketball more then anything but ultimately made peace with the fact that if she never had to play basketball, she could move on with her life. For some reason that stuck with me and i adopted the same mentally with footbag and it's really helped.
i feel like injury showed me that i put too much of who i was into footbag (well that and how sucky my form/how much i played/my bones ) and that if in the end i could never play hacky again life would move on. It's kinda a sucky crossroads to be at, but i know you can beat it especially if you love hack. I watched you grow from a goofy n00b in a jester suit to being able to bust shit i prolly will never be able to touch and it's pretty awesome. you had huge potential and you still do, but footbag isn't everything. your an awesome, smart yoguy who still has huge potential you just have to grow into it. relearn hack, do yoga, crosstrain whatever it is to be what you want to be. This has been my first year since 2009 (knock on wood) where i've been almost injury free and it's prolly the funnest year of footbag i've ever had, both shred wise and all the shit that surrounds hack and i'm sure your going to be the same way.
good luck kid, you got this....also expect that picture we talked about by the end of the week
