Jeremy
So I've picked my subjects at uni.
I'm doing;
Biology of animals. Biology of Plants. Psychology. Geography of Global Change.
The first two are for my science degree and the second two for my arts degree. Actually all 4 are offered in science, but the first two aren't offered in arts so I'm essentially doing a 4 year bachelor of science, but I get a bachelor of arts with it
.
Also picked up this book today;

He's pretty out there at times, but a good source for religious humour

I'm actually going to be studying "geopolitics" this year at uni. Well I presume so. I know nothing about the course except that it's called "geography of global change."
Jared Diamond is a fantastic person to read on this subject. Guns, Germs And Steel in particular (also Collapse which I own, but haven't read yet).

So this is one of those drunken posts hooray!
So I've noticed the only time I ever win poker is when I really want/need to. The last time I won a game was the infamous game where I get stoned, threw up and passed out the couch. The table kept paying my blinds, then demanded I either play or quit the game, so I got up and won. That was in fact the day that I got my promotion at work as well. Since then I've never needed the money, and haven't won a game (for over a year). Then the first day at Narooma Dan Ednie spent like 2 hours talking about how much fun poker was and how he'd won the night before, so we played a big game (not for money, because they're all cheap), and I pretty much only played hands that Dan played, put him out first, and then went on to win the game. That's probably the only time I've played a non cash game and not just gone all in on every hand until I lose
. Due to a 2 week break, holidays, Christmas etc. I'm now almost broke until Friday (I was considering not having Sushi for lunch
) but played poker tonight. Fired up from being attacked over my bad 500 skills (actually it was my partners), I managed to finish second from a table of 10, which is close enough to winning (since we pay 1st and 2nd and 3rd gets their money back). Huzzah, sushi all week as usual
That is all.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, saw the best hand ever today. Jenny and Ben hate each other. They stay in with a few other people. Flop comes out and it's king, queen, queen. there is some large betting and a few people fold. A 4 comes out. Ben bets large, Jenny goes all in. Ben celebrates immediately and says; "Full house on the flop" turning over to show a queen and king (queens over kings). Jenny stops for a moment, then laughs and says "me too." Pocket kings (kings over queens). Ben is devastated and Jenny starts collecting the chips. Tom and Jono say "wait, you can still get a queen," turn over the last card... and it's a queen. Mass cheering and celebrations. Jenny isn't happy. We actually saw 2 four of a kinds tonight, I had 4 kings on the first hand I played (and grossly over bet and won very little).
