kicked last night.. felt like i was getting back into it after a long layoff... despite no long layoff.. really strange. basically, I'm yet again in barn building mode, so I spend so much energy on that, and haven't had a lot of good practice sessions as a result. Had some sessions with others, but that's not the same as practicing. So it was good to get out there last night and do some drills. I had a few good things, but nothing memorable enough to write down.

This is my new work area that I completed last night - the goal was to maximize use of the area under the stairs in order to free up space elsewhere in the floor plan for woodworking equipment. Mission accomplished. My shop is also fully insulated now, and all walls are covered.

thanks for the barn props nick! it was cool when you guys saw the space last night in person and were impressed by the changes. it's validating when others can notice the difference etc.

good session last night for sure. i think we may have figured out which motion is causing soreness for nick, both nick and zach are prorgressing like crazy, and I had a couple runs that showed my usual string lenght PLUS more density and variety. There were only like 3 runs like that, but it's promising to see the stuff I've been working on show up in some nice long runs.

Barn building tonight and tomorrow night, should be DONE with all major "surgery" by the end of the weekend. Will only have to do dust collection setup and minor storage solutions after that. And... build some freaking furniture finally!

well, since I wrote last, I was a last minute fill in for a business trip to Tuscon Arizona, so that's where I am now. Not only a last minute fill in, but I also have been called upon to present to 700 sales people, the president of the company, several execs etc. And, it's a presentation that the woman that was supposed to be here prepared for 6 months for, and I know nothing about it. So... Flew out and had all sorts of delays. Took 14 hours to get here yesterday. Got in by 11 pm wiped out, but at least I had time to prepare on the plane. Did a few dry runs of the presentation in the huge ballroom that we're meeting in. And did my first three sessions of the presentation this morning and KILLED IT. Hellz yeah. President and sales VP and my boss's boss all gave me props. Nice.

We're at this crazy nice resort, so I kicked in my room after. Got a nice sweat going. Did some pushups and situps. Hit pixie legover > pixie whirl. Can't remember what else. Then swam and hung by the pool. Casino night tonight with food and drink included.

Nothing to do until thursday when I do the next 3 sessions of the presentation. then home again saturday.

before I left for the trip, I picked this up:

hour long hotel session followed by swimming and hot tub.. did get some pushups in as well. nice long strings today, good trick density. got some good looks at sailing set, but still have yet to complete a trick with that. interestingly, sailing is fixing atomic. go figure. whatever, it was a really fun session. I played here, which I think is probably the nicest place I've ever played:

Hour long session today in my room, pushups, situps, dips.
Highlights

pixie swirl
swirl > drifter (aka the hardest thing I've hit out of my growing ability to swirl.. I know, not that hard, but screw you, I'm happy with it)
sole stall > ss butterfly
atomic mirage > toe set drifter

Real big fan of the first 3! Fourth one was pretty cool though, just not my cup of tea. Sweet highlights (especially your sole> ss butter). Sounds like swirls are coming to you better now. Can't wait to kick again dude. Have a good remainder of your trip.

Goddamn, someone's been drilling their swirls. Sick stuff, Bob, I also really liked the Smog. Can't wait to see these. Hopefully Zach and I can trip it down there this week.

heh heh.. yeah, I wish I hit paradon swirl both sides... I've only hit that strong side so far. What i hit the other day, was paradon > swirl (two tricks), but I was still happy with it.

hi peter! that's a bandsaw above (not drill press) btw, but I know what you mean ;) wish you were here to fix the lock on my front door.. oh, and the lock on my car door is all messed up too.

nick/zach, see you wednesday! nice. I'm also kicking with brian on saturday at 3:30 if you want to attend.

--

kicked for an hour last night and did pushups/situps/arm curls. it was a brutal practice session, all drills, no fun strings really. But sometimes you gotta have those. no highlights to report really. really sore today actually.

i have friday off, next thursday and friday off for turkey day, the following monday off... so, three short weeks in a row! nice.

Ugh, your upcoming weekly schedule sounds so nice -- I wish that was representative of my own but... no dice.

I've been encouraged by reading your blog and witnessing your dedication to those "little-fun" practice sessions that you mentioned in your last post. I feel that those are just as necessary as the fun sessions and am going to see about working more drilling sessions into the quasi-schedule that I try to keep.
