Yo Darren, thanks for the encouragement. It was definitely scary being in a circle with Honza, but I am so thankful for the experience. I know what I need to do this year to get really good finally.

Not much to report on except that I will be drilling every other day with a specific plan that Anssi helped set me up with. Did an hour and a half session today and holy hell, I can see the improvements already. I can see myself sticking to this. So excited to see where I'll be for next Worlds.

Well, I have one little highlight, which is a pretty nice milestone for me...

A Highlight:

 Atomsmasher x4! Beat my old record by 2! Pretty excited about that. This is seriously all thanks to the tips Matt Kemmer gave me on Atomics at Worlds.

I will say that my shuffle feels better already.

Bang bang indeed.

So I have been playing every other day. Well, not playing but drilling. Drills are really paying off a lot. Went to PSU to see Nadiah graduate and hang out with the PSU club and say good bye to Nathan (he got a job in New Hampshire). Also! Nate and I got booked to do a demo for some kids! Afterward, we each got a $50 dollah gift card to Amazon! Check out the pics!

Image

Image

Some guy even asked us if we could do private lessons for his son! But we are both going to be out of the area, so we recommended our other guys at PSU.

Total blast, except I got Bronchitis at a bar I think. Finally getting over that. Anyway...

Highlights:

 Vertigo (playing PIG with Pipenberg and hit this for my first time ever). hit it again, first try during my session today.
 Swirling Drifter (dope!)
 Morpheus!!! (spinning ducking pdx drifter), same day I hit Morpheus
 Got a sweet Sick 3 on tape for the online comp.
 Atomsmasher x5 (new record)
 Flip Whirling Swirl! Have hit it before but holy shit is it uncommon! Hogan-inspired.
 Void BSOS again. Flip Void is almost every try.
 Blur> Legbeater> Ripwalk *rpt 2x through. Longest shuffle run I've ever had.
 Flip Ripstein 6 outta 10 tries. Very happy about that.

Realized that my style is leaning more towards the style of Gatesman's than anyone else. Especially after looking at my training program... it should be renamed, "Evan Can Already Do All of This Better Than You"

Crazy improvements already. Very excited with my progress since I've come back from Worlds. Stupidly inspired by everyone I played with.

Thanks Matt!

Session! Jeremy is on a slow schedule of getting back into it, but he's doing it alright. Finally! his first 30 minutes of shred was today (prescribed by his physical therapist)

Quick highlights before bed.

Highlights:

 Retarded run starting with left clipper Ripped Warrior> ss Butter> Stepping Ducking Osis> shuffle> BSOS Ripstein (NAH AH FAHCK YAH)
 Reverse Swirl> Blurry Whirl BSOS
 Reverse Swirling Blender bs

That's it sorta. Messed with some drills and whatnots.

Oh, yeah.. so I was going to do this new month-long workout kinda like p90x or Insanity, called "Hip Hop Abs" because my mom just bought it and I thought it looked too funny not to try out. I had my first and last session of that tonight. I felt violated by my instructor. I strongly believe, even though it was just a video, that he was undressing me with his eyes. I'd like to try to file for sexual harassment against Sean T, but I fear I'll look crazier than I actually am. I'm just going to keep going to the gym and try to repress the memory of what happened between Sean and I tonight.

Bye :D

Session with Jeremy again tonight. His second 30 minute session. He said his legs dont hurt at all, so that was a plus. We ran about a mile before the session, which was a nice change of pace. I ran with ankle weights on because I'm an imbecile. What a regret that was. Legs hurt pretty badly afterward, but only for a little bit. Then it was shred time.

Highlights:

 Fell in love with a new link.. Osis> Far Symp Osis. Wow. Fun-o-rama.
 Realized I really suck at Osis> Dyno links, so I fixed my execution on that and then hit a bunch of Osis> Dyno stuff bsos, like Spinning Osis> Dyno, Stepping ss Osis> Dyno bsos, Ducking Osis> Dyno bsos, etc...
 COMPLETELY inspired by Ivan: STAMPEDE! bs new on both sides.
 Pdx Whirl> Rev Swirl> Swirl *rpt (finally fixed up my pdx whirls for this one) (I know it's not great, but Jeremy got this on tape, footage eventually)
 After I fixed my P Whirls, I realized PS Whirl might finally be ok on flip. T'was! :D Hit a bunch on flip and a really dope one on strong side. It's all about that pivot, son!
 PS Whirl b2b! Yay! Fucking hell yay! Now I can finfuckingally do the link that even tiltless players have hit before me lol Can't believe I hit Mobius b2b before Ps Whirl b2b :P So happy to finally hit it though. Got this on tape too. Footage will be posted eventually.
 I feel like I've finally made a huge break with Pdx Whirls, so excited to be able to throw them into my game soon. I feel like this is the concept my game has been waiting to master, which will help my game look much more dense.
 Made a Whirling Swirl breakthrough tonight too. Whirling Swirl BSOS 3 times. More of these in the future.

Followed the session up with some unicycling. Rode over a speed bump to end the session. Nailed it. Hoorah.

I did laugh when I read that Mike haha So much fervor captured in just one word :P

Anyway, just wanted to update a few things here. First off, my every other day drill sessions have been fucking me up in the best way possible. Like, I don't feel comfortable hitting the runs I've been hitting. I'm not used to doing this sort of thing yet. I knocked out a lot of my BOPs and my runs are much more dense than they were at Worlds. In my last few sessions, I've hit some of the best runs in my life. I don't even wanna describe them yet, but they're infested with 4's, 5's, and shuffle. And these drills have only been using a few concepts. Haven't touched a lot of other concepts yet and I'm so excited to dive (or duck or zulu) into them. The drills I chose started out pretty difficult and frustrating during the first session, but I kept pushing through and now I can do them 1st or 2nd try. This post marks my turning point in footbag. The fingers have been dipped in the water of next-level-shred and they are flicking me in the face with the droplets. I'm looking forward to being fully submerged in the water in a few months.

So aside from my game, other news in my footbag world... Jackson asked me to kick tonight! It's been months but he said he wants to start playing again and drilling this time around. Played a session with him tonight and he's still got it, just has to drill more. Jeremy has been having pretty regular sessions with me. He is still getting his legs back to normal, but in the meantime, I suggested that he practice kicks, 1 adds, and atws and orbits. He said his shins hurt after the last session, but I checked back with him today and he said they're better, just a bit sore. I really do see a full-circle recovery from him and I think he's still going to get really good. Nadiah has also been playing footbag by her own will recently. We had a session the other day. She hit her first flip butterfly, ATW> Orbit on one side, Orbit bs, ATW bs, Osis bs (each frozen in clipper at the end). Pretty awesome stuff.

Aside from footbag, I mentioned it briefly... I took up unicycling. Getting better at that every time I practice, which is awesome. I rode down my street today, all the way down it. Stoked on that. I also free-mounted several times today. Can't wait to start riding the trail.

I think we have a session planned tomorrow as Ben's going away session. Should be Ben, Toolan, Jackson, Jeremy, Nadiah, and me.

Also, doing some promotion/demo/teaching at PSU Berks on Monday (move-in day). Hoping to find some new bloods.

Right now, footbag is the most fun it's ever been for me.

Good to hear, Cassy! Footbag is.. ya know... fun :D

And Ben, I'm going to definitely try to make it up before ECFC. You've gotten so much better. Keep drilling man. You're getting there quicker than most. You're really proving yourself as a student and as a player to me. I think you'll have Far Osis, Osis, and Stepping to mess about with for a little while. I expect you to be good at those concepts come time for East Coasts! ;)

K so, drove an hour to play with Ben, Toolan, and Taylor for Ben's farewell session, since he's going back to PSU this weekend. Ben has really been proving his worth in this sport. "Ben Babyak" is a name people should probably listen up for/become familiar with, because he is certainly an up and comer and knows how to improve at footbag. Jeremy and Jackson came with me tonight too. Jeremy's legs still hurt, so he just watched, but I'm rooting for a full recovery from him soon. Jackson was getting back into the swing of things again. Hit Phoenix, footed Spinning Clipper, and stepping is coming back stronger than before. He wants to kick every other day, so hopefully he stays true to that. Jeremy and Jackson still have so much potential as players. I hope they both come back full-force soon. Mike has been doing my Anz drill program with me, just with different drills. His game is looking dope ass fly ass. So sharp. So controlled. He has only been drilling a week now, but I can already see the improvements. Taylor was hitting some links of 2 tiltless and also got Mirage bs for the first time tonight.

My game was pretty good tonight. Hit a bunch of new stuff, which was nice.

Highlights:

 Stepping Diving Mirage bs & BSOS (new on both)
 Void> Ripwalk (first time stepping out of Void)
 Strong side Fusion (new)
 Tapping Whirl bs (almost bsos) (New on flip)
 Alpine Blurry Whirl (first time clean) I fucking love this trick. This will be one that I will try to work towards.
 Stepping Ducking Pickup bs (new on both)
 Alpha Spikehammer bs (new on flip)
 Blurry Drifter bs (uncommon for me on either side)
 Pdx Torque> Blurry Whirl

My game is still in the works. I often cycle through inspirations in footbag, and right now, I really think Gatesman is my favorite player and I'm leaning towards that style of shred but more unusual surfaces :) So, I'm really looking forward to my game in the upcoming months, when I start drilling some weird tricks again. I am, by no means, finished with F[UNS]tylin' ;) I think Gatesman style with Schneider/Bevier weird tricks would be disgusting, so that's kinda what I'm shooting for.

Hey boys and girls! It's time for another episode of Nick Tries To Stop Sucking At Footbag! In this episode, Nick tries really hard to stop sucking at footbag.

First off: Replies!:

Cassy: Don't hold your breath :P I will suck at footbag for a while.
Matt: I hope yo ass play bag again soon, because I had a conversation with the world and it wants you to play footbag again. I wasn't tripping... I think.
Doog: Yeah man, no problem. Send them whenever. I'm don't care what time/day/buffalo it is.

*Cool theme song music for the show starts playing, which is actually just the Pokemon Theme, but Randy Newman is singing instead*

Hi. Sorry for the music. Randy Newman is a fucking blowhole, but he's all I could afford. This show is bad. I have nothing planned. Just change the channel before it's too late.. Oops. It's too late.

So I had a session with Jackson tonight. He asked me to kick again, which was sick. We worked on his Pixies and some toe 2 adds. His Osii look great right now and he's got strings back. Hope he really sticks with it this time around.

I was stoked on what I was hitting...

Highlights:

 Toe Barrage bs a ton of times each... new on both sides.
 Barroque bs a ton of times each... new on flipside. 3rd on strong side. Good God, remind me to mess with HPD again.
 Mobius> Ducking Clipper bs (that is what my game needs)
 Messed with Gyro Whirls again. Damn. They're butter now.
 Gyro Whirl lead me to trying Gyro Barrage. DAYUM. They're butter now too.
 Got a new 3 Fearless: Ripped Warrior> Blurry Whirl> Spinning Whirl> Spinning Osis (trying for Mobius :/.. Next time.
 Phoenix> Ripped Warrior
 Spinning Firefly BSOS (new on bs)
 Alpine Stepping Mirage BSOS again. Dope trick.
 Sick run with Alpine Schmoe BSOS (definitely new on bs)
 Some sweet runs.

Just a fun Polini Family story...

So I went downstairs to get some midnight foods. My dad is down on the couch playing solitaire in the dark. I called him a "fucking douche bag" or something like that, and he called me a "stupid dickhead" or something like that, then I walked into the kitchen and heated up an omelet thing. My dad followed me into the kitchen and asked me if I knew where the peanuts were. I told him I didn't.. then remembered I had seen some under the cupboard and I opened it up, grabbed a bag of them and handed them over. He was amazed and called me "magical" or something like that, then he made fun of my omelet thing, then he walked away, turning the lights off on me. I turned them back on and got a fork to eat my omelet thing. I turned the light back off and went into the living room. I figured my dad had gone to bed because all the lights were off. As I'm fumbling for the light switch, I hear peanuts cracking in the dark. I thought it was my imagination at first, then I hear more cracking shells. In shock and awe, I state, "You are not eating peanuts in the dark right now..." I hear my dad reply, "yeah, it's poetic" then I start to crack up and my dad joins me and we both started laughing. I turn the lights on as I'm laughing and I see my dad sitting in the chair, COVERED in peanut shells, which made us laugh even harder. After I caught my breath, I decided to join him and eat with him in the dark livingroom. Pitch black, with the calm sounds of a guy eating peanuts and a guy eating an omelet thing. I thought the environment was nice, but I wanted to break the verbal silence. So, I said to my dad, "So how do you know if you get a bad one?" Without having to think at all, he immediately replies, "They're all bad." This threw me over the edge, I laughed the hardest I've laughed in a long while, and my dad joined me too, yet he kept eating the bad peanuts, which added to my laughter. The Polini's are crazy people. Just wanted to document that little anecdote.

More footbag news:

Toolan and I are gonna be doing a demo/recruitment session at Penn State Berks Campus tomorrow. We plan to dress cool, wear hemp, and talk about all the cool drugs we've done, ya know, to make ourselves seem like freshmen hacky sackers. Then we'll start just kicking the bag and "hacking" with each other. Some new freshman guy will come up and be all, "Bro, can I hack bro?" We're gonna be all, "Dude, fuck yeah man! Wanna toke on a blazer with us afterward?" and the freshman will be all, "No doubt yo. I love toking blazers." Then we'll lead him to a pond, sit down and start toking the blazer, and Toolan will come up behind him and hit him in the head with a blunt object, we'll steal his lunch money, then throw his body in the pond.

Ok, so maybe we'll leave the murder part out of it. But we will start off hacking, just to draw them in, then once we hooked one, we'll bust a few freestyle moves and see if they dig it. If they do, hell yeah, +1 for footbag. If they think it's lame, or that we're just showing off, or "it looks like we're just dancing", well... then we run away and start over again.

Disclaimer: Murder is bad and frowned upon in many countries. I, Nick Polini, would never murder and neither would Michael Toolan. I just joked about it because I said TOOLAN was going to be doing the striking with the blunt object. Now if I said "I" was going to hit the hypothetical freshman with the blunt object, that would be uncalled for and people would think I was "out of line", but since I said Toolan would hypothetically hit him in the head, it's better and funnier, because Toolan had no say in being the butt of the joke, therefore he can not blamed. There will be no murdering happening tomorrow, just footbag. One of us might happen to hit an Assassin, Skullcrusher, or Guillotine but no real murders.

I blame my girlfriend for this, she has a morbid sense of humor and I picked up on it a bit. So if anyone is severely offended... it's her fault :P

I'm a really nice person in real life. Murder is for hoodrats. I am not a hoodrat. I like playing with kittens, listening to birds, and blowing bubbles on warm summer days.

Yo Ryan, glad you liked the story :P Where are you from, btw? and do you currently have players you kick with? If not, maybe I can help you find some in your area. Get back to me on here or pm me, doesn't matter which. I'd like to help you out if I can.

So, today was our big "Recruit some new blood at PSU Berks" day with Toolman (who never ended up murdering anyone, thank Gravy), Jeremy, Nadiah, and I. We went into the session dressed cool as hell, and then dropped our stuff down and started casually kicking. Mike says, "Man, we're a bunch of white kids, we need more diversity to appeal to other potential players." Sure enough we go home with an indian kid's phone number and a african american kid's phone number :P Diversity achieved. Both kids are freshmen and really nice. Neither of them have hacked before, just wanted to try it because it looked cool. However, they both immediately took up kicking. Himanshu plays soccer and started doing alternate inside kicks easily. Albert Harris III learned head stalls, toe stall bs, inside kicks, toe kicks, and knee bumps today.

And it was funny, I noticed that when Albert was learning, another A.A. kid stepped up and wanted to learn. He tried for a bit but gave up. Then he left, but it was interesting to see that when one A.A. kid was kicking, another wanted to join ad try it out. I feel like there could be something more to this that we could incorporate in getting more diversity in our sport.

Funny stuff:

-While we were kicking, we realized we had to look really nooby, so we did several funny things:
~Mike did a toe stall to save the bag and we were like, "dude, no toe stalls" then he said, "you're right, I should have freaked out about it and acted
surprised"
~I did a really bad osis at one point and said, "You see that, it's called the scoop, I invented it in highschool last year" (because we were trying to blend in
like other freshmen) Everyone got a kick out of that.
~Whenever someone had too much control over their kicks, we said it was too good and to dumb it down, then they would put a lot of effort into trying to
kick the bag and miss on purpose. It was hilarious. We had such a fun time messing around today.
~Mike said something like "It's ok to do flyers, right?" we agreed that it was ok. Then he did one and did a kick out of it. We said that he needed to make it
look worse and have no chance of playing out of it. Then Mike does a " real Jester" when kids jump real high, kick real hard and it flies super far away.
~We were all kicking in a circle. I had on a green and black tiger striped sweat band, Jeremy had purple cheetah print sunglasses. I observed this, started
to take off my headband, and stated, "No, we can't do this.. There can only be one item of animal print in a footbag circle otherwise people will think
that we're a cult". We all laughed about that.

We had such a fun time with the session.

Anyway,

Lighheights:

 XBD Cloud drag (Jorden's invention) bs & bsos (new on both)
 Infinity Gyro Frigid Osis thing (Jorden's invention) bs & bsos
 Blurry Whirl> Spinning Whirl BSOS (Doooppp)
 Ripped Warrior> Blurry Whirl> Spinning Whirl> Mobius> hand (going for 5 soon)
 New 6 add on camera, gotta see if it's THE before I post it though.
 Guiltless run x40something contacts.
 Gyro Whirl b2b
 Badger strong side (new trick)

After the session, Jeremy left, but Mike, Nadiah, and I drove to a park in the area and went on a tree hike. Mike told me that he recently started to get into identifying trees. And since Nahds and I have both taken Dendrology in college, we wanted to help teach him. We over-loaded his brain with new species of vines and trees. We quizzed him on a few of them and he was getting a few of them right, which was great. Hopefully we go on more tree hikes. that was a blast.

After Mike left, Nadiah and I went to go get some food at a Subway. After we walked out the door, I pulled a bad charlie horse and was massaging that out when we saw a couple leaving a store to go to their car. They were yelling about something on their car and the girl flicked it off and the guy put his foot over it and stepped on it. Being the naturalist that I am, that really pissed me off, and I wanted to go over and see what this asshole just killed. I walk over after they left. To my awesome surprise, it was a huge praying mantis chilling (still alive and well!) on the ground. I took my shoe off and let it climb on, then brought it back to show Nadiah. When I got back to where Nahds was, there was a crowd of people that had somehow developed while I was over there picking up the mantis (Gyro Eggbeater). When I got back, there were like 5 people there wondering what I found. Then once they all saw, they started taking crazy amounts of pictures. Fucking serious paparazzi. Then after a while, the cameras freaked him out and he flew directly into my face and onto my neck. I couldn't believe no one got that picture. But it was an awesome experience. That mantis and I were totally brothers for a minute there. Then it flew away. Just a cool little extra tidbit about my night. Most people around me were excited about this because they have never seen one with black eyes before. Neither had I. Here are the pics the one business guy just sent me:

Also, funny story how I hit Badger tonight.Well, on the way to Boston one time, Nadiah, Jackson, Corey, Toolan and I played a car game to pass the time. It was called "guess the animal I'm thinking of". Basically it's like 20 questions but with an animal and unlimited questions. Nadiah and Toolan realized they were psychically connected or someshit lol It was crazy though, because each of them knew what the other was thinking about almost immediately. For instance: It's Nadiah's turn to pick an animal, Toolan is guessing. (first question) "Do you ever see it dead on the road? Nadiah: "No that would be fucking scary." Toolan: "Oh then it's gotta be a whale." It was a whale. We were flipping out. But so tonight, Nadiah says to Toolan, "what animal am I thinking of?" Toolan couldnt get it, so I asked Nadiah what it was. She chose "Honey Badger", so I signaled to Toolan to watch me... I tried Badger a few times and couldn't get it, then tried once more and I got it! ... Mike had no clue what the street name for the trick was. "Is it a butterfly?" Jesus, c'mon, Mike! haha

Sorry for all the writing, just a lot of fun stuff happened tonight :)

Going back to Berks next week to teach our new students!

Glad you enjoy my insanity and my bugs, Cassy! :P

Tonight was not supposed to be a session, but Jackson is back to his old self, "dong dong dong"ing at my front door during my nap after work. SO glad I said yes to a session. Jackson was really stoked to play... I see Jackson trying to get back into it, and I was hoping/knowing he'd hit new stuff soon if he kept practicing with me. Tonight was that session. I hit some swirling stuff then he decided to give Swirl another go. He sets perfect first try. I told him I knew he had that next try. BOOM. NAILS it 2nd try, we throw a party. After that, Jackson was on a roll. Really good flip Pixies. Hits strongside Ripwalk & Blur (which he has hit before not not since he's started playing again). Then I told him to try flip stepping. He said, "No, I wanna be one-sided with stepping" I said, "no no. Fuck you. Hit flip stepping now." So he tries it and bangs out a perfect hip height stepping set to hand catch, and looks up at me. I look back at him and say, "yeah, do it." 3rd try, flip Ripwalk!!! New trick for Jackson. He had a great session. One of his best in a while.

Guylights:

 Blazing Infinity bs
 Blaze bs
 Whirling Butter strong side (new)
 BevClickity Whirl (only tried strong side)
 Toe ss Revup bs (new on both)
 Swirling Revup strongside (new)
 Rev Swirling Blender bs a few times each, feeling super easy nowadays.
 Session ender: Reverse Swirling Symposium Whirl bs! New on both! So stoked on that! Really had to push to get flipside, but strong side came easy as shit. Hit strong like 6 times in 30 seconds of attempts. Flip will be there. Felt easy'ish, just need to get used to landing back on the whirl leg. I kept hitting Rev Swirling Blender while trying flipside- WHICH! I will not complain about :P

Jeremy uploaded a few of my recent clips of new stuff...

Pdx Whirl> Swirl> Rev Swirl *rpt: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B5BBzck ... =drive_web

Just skip to the end of each of those, because they're raw footy.

I took a video of how Jackson likes to end sessions... That will be uploaded as soon as my phone finishes transferring it to my dropbox.

Edit: Uploaded and here it is:

So glad Jackson will be coming with me to East Coasts again this year haha
