all the onlining profiling of my life these days has given me pause to think a bit. why do people feel the need to put their lives online, whether it be in the form of musical tastes (audioscrobbler), vital statistics (myspace) or online diaryland (blogger)?

i wonder if online places like myspace will ever redefine friendship? will we one day have to think up a new concept for the people we actually see and interact with on a daily basis when we're offline? in audioscrobbler you can define the relationships you assign yourself with people, i.e. you can say "i barely know such-and-such," instead of myspace's weird anonymous-online version of "friendship," where all you have to do is click on someone's blurry, slightly-out-of-frame, faux-art webcam picture and voila! you're best buddies.

i think kalli once said she liked the idea of online friendships if they actually led to real-world friendships.. and i agree with her. but how often does that happen? i think the best description of most relationships in these online forums is "digital stalking," and i don't think that's going to change.

i'm rambling, but.. because this is my soapbox, my arguments don't have to be structured or coherent. score another point for the internet

had a good attempt at frontside furious torque

Outside MFA sessions today!!! the weather was just about perfect for a solid shred, and there was a good turnout. I hit my best strings today when I was kickin' it with Anthony, Jamie and silvia. Lots of ducking nonsense and a 5>4>5>4>4>6, but the food was slurry. This wierd helicopter kept making passes over campus and I got kinda scared. I knew the CIA was after me.

Kevin, I couldn't agree with your point of view more. This MySpace, friendster, Facebook phenomena is very post-modern. Could it replace traditional soicializing entirely? I don't know, I just think it's a good way to stay in touch with people. I still buy into it, 'cause I'm an introvert and it makes socializing easier, but so impersonal. myspace.com/shred30

I'm really smelly, so it's off to my first shower in almost a week.

Oh yeah, we get our new kitten, Rufus tomorrow!

Kevin, are you too good to talk to me when I come to town? I have half a nerve to give you a mushroom stamp next time I come to town.

Bullshit seems to follow me everywhere. We got a 3-day notice today and will be evicted Monday. It's fucked up because we all made arrangements and everything was fine until when I woke up today and this note said "Sorry, arrangements are not acceptable (after she already accepted them!?!?) and you must pay by Sunday (tomorrow!?!) $1000.

I am committing suicide. Fuck everybody.

EDIT: not actually commiting suicide

Sucks about the quantums. :(

Mine are still in great condition, it's weird that everybody else is having problems.

Had about 3 sessions total yesterday. One with Riley, one solo, and one with Jere. Legs are dead.

Jere played the best I've ever seen him play before. lots of tripless and long strings. He was ripping it up.

Also ran my weekly after school footbag program at a local middle school before all of that. One girl may have broken a finger! she was chasing this kid because he killed a baby ladybug and she tripped over another kids foot and ate it hard into the pavement :( and  at the same time.

Trimmed my insoles because they were a few centimeters too wide and created a clipper wall. Trimmed them down so that I didn't rely on them. Cut one too much and now it slides around in the shoe and every trick feels different.

session hilights:
-mostly drilled consecutive 2s
-gyro swirl bsos :D
-reactor>blurrier>string
-barfly swirl *new trick* was not expecting to hit this at all. I think it was a fluke.

Haha, yesterday's after school program at Washington was an interesting experience. The youth that I usually work with are a little bit older. I guess there's a lot of maturing that goes on between ages 14 and 16 in most people. Often times I take that maturity for granted when I work with the youth, or deal with people in general. Then again, some folks never mature like they should.

I wanted to be down with the late night shred last night, 'cause Jere was kickin' ass all over the shred room. But I felt shitty about school so I drank a lot of beer, smoked too much herb, and ate a huge cheeseburger right beforehand.

Ok, so I'm going to drive to Seattle for the juggling and footbag festival, but I'm not coming back to Montana afterwards. I'm going down to Eugene for Thanksgiving. Why can't SJFF be tomorrow?

Started learning sentential calculus today which is taking philosophical arguments, turning them into a calculus equation, and plugging in truth values (true or false) to see if the argument is valid. pretty cool stuff.

Been on a big trick and new links kick lately. need to get out of that or I won't improve

Listening to a lot of GothTronic music lately. Hell Yeah! Tromikon and An On Bast kill it!
