Eric Reile invented this set, and rooted pixie. pm him (The Actual Sized E), hie might have hit some of those moves.

I barley explored the set at all when I started trying it. The only tricks I hit from the set were rooted fairy op butterfly and rooted fairy op mirage.

Nice! That's a tough trick. The only person that comes to mind who might have hit it would be Scott Davidson. He was hitting Flapper Set Whirlwind pretty consistently quite a while ago, and he's probably got some of the best and lowest flappers in the game. He wasn't much of a ducker though, so maybe not. I'd suggest asking him, but I doubt he'd remember, or know what a tomahawk is.

Hey guys,

In response to all these recent unusual surface posts -- does the starting surface change the elements of the trick performed? I would say no. Sure, flapper spinning is hard, but where do we draw the line for these moves?

For example, should knee stall set eggbeater be considered different than eggbeater? If I hit side-of-the-nose set torque, should I be credited with an invention? I could probably hit cloud set opp double pickup -- would that help expand imaginations and the boundaries of the sport? Doubtful.

The purpose of this thread is to inspire and open up minds to new possibilities -- and of course give props when props are due!

But for inventions, let's stick to preexisting tricks with additional elements (i.e. new dexterity combinations), acrobatic innovation or new concepts and components.

As a guideline, if your catching surface is crucial to the style or essence of the trick, then it can be considered a created move. Just for example (I don't know if these have actually been done):

ripstein ending on xbd heel = NEW MOVE
xbd heel set ripstein = NEW MOVE (assuming 1st swirl is a set)

xbd heel set downtime symple swirl = same as clipper set symple swirl (not new/unique)

The difficulty of the last move's starting surface was already credited because it was the ending surface of the previous move. The consideration of the starting surface is negated as the bag is set into empty uptime space.

Thoughts? Qualms?

Oh, and one new invention for me: muted whirling same flux.

i totally agree with you Jorden, a move starts the moment the bag leaves his contact.

flapper set tomahawk is not a move, it's a link. Flapper>tomahawk. (it's a good one)

Maybe we should start a "link invention thread".

there is one thing i disagree: xbd heel set ripstein is also a link, i see it the same way i see flapper set tomahawk.

Ianek, I see you point, but I'm referring to a xbd heel swirling set into ss swirl.
The starting surface in this case is significant, because a dex component is included as part of the set.

So like, would you say artic (frigidosis pixie) and toe set pixie are the same start to a trick?

It's too easy not to be invented already, but I've been doing downtime whirling rev guays. It's done whirling swirl style, except the second dex is in front of your body. Anyone else do these? It's an invention from myself
