So Doug and Pat and I had a session yesterday at the State Fair. We busked a little too and managed to pay for the tolls both ways and a little food while we were there so that's good.
highlights:
doug was on, he really hit some cool highlights and crowd pleasing strings. I'll let him tell you about it though
biggest highlight was I hit butterly>blur>rpt. that was really thrilling because it was to a pretty legit string that I played mostly guiltless on.
Hit ss butter>near DLO>rpt
more DLO>lo>rpt
ss DLO bsos
my legs are ridiculously tired but I really want to play with the RFA today because it would be the last session I can play before I have to go back to school
EDIT I forgot to post one highlight. Alpine Fuck up. Awesome awesome move. I love it. just so good. ok yeah that's pretty much it

fun fun fun session so far. Just wanted to update since I'm near a compy. So far:
nallegam>lo>rpt
fear>lo>rpt! That was awesome
ss mirage>tap>rpt
atomsmasher b2b again! woo! it only took me like 6 tries too!
ok what sucks is that my legs are really hurting now (this is about a half hour later) I'm gonna have to cut the session short, but still a good time playing.

so i played a session with d earlier yesterday. I hit most of the drills I wanted to and felt pretty much really on, however i didn't do too many of my harder drills. that sounded like a shitty sentence. I'm leaving for sophomore year of college today and I'm a little preoccupied. However, here are some fun highlights:
pdx torque
fairy merlin
alpine fuckup again
long strings at times
a few links of ducking and diving clipper drills
a good session in all. I had fun, doug hit some fun stuff, like frantic mirage and such. So a good session to end the summer we both progressed a lot, but not nearly enough for either of us haha. peace out modified. Talk to you maybe later tonight.

played a couple of days ago but basically just got through most of my warmups and consistent-ish new drills and had to stop because my shin splints were giving me a ton of guff. but I suppose I'll write my warm up for some future Ian to come back and maybe scoff at or remember fondly.
Warm ups (which used to be my hard drills, so that's cool)
20 alternating clippers and at least 20 tiltless
infinity*10
butter>pdx mir>rpt*20 contacts
ssclipper>osis>rpt*10 contacts
ssbutter>osis>pdx mir>rpt
tap>lo>rpt(did 6 contacts, so that was cool)
DLO>lo>rpt
atomsmasher b2b (took forever. That was the last serious drill I hit before I was done. My shins were screaming but I WAS going to land it.)
fairy ss mir>lo>lo>rpt *something like eleven contacts of it?
that's what I got through before I had to stop. However, I plan on doing some filming sometime soon but I'm going to take it easy on my legs for a little bit, so I'm prolly gonna do that friday.

had a sesh today. Kinda drunk but I'll tell you what I can remember.
Highlights:
fuckup b2b! that was awesome.
3 contacts of fairy ss mir>tap>rpt and dropping the last tap like 6 times. that pissed me off but I was psyched I got that far. It's not too far off.
all my drills from the last update.
EDIT: Ok so a few more details about yesterday's session, now that I'm a little more clearheaded. I wanted to film it so I went and rented film equipment from the library under the guise of it being for a spanish presentation. And it might have been, because later in the semester, I will be doing some presentation on a topic that interests me. But anyways so then I make the trek back across campus to the racquetball courts because I wanted somewhere private to play. I open up the camera to start setting up and there was no tape in it. God-diddly dang darn it. So I couldn't film and couldn't go back because it would be another forty or so minutes before I could play then, and that would push into dinner time so it was not possible to go back. So I played my session anyway. I forgot to mention a few other highlights:
new infinity record: 15
New Osis b2b record: 6
New Triforce record: completed halfway through level 7
Oh yeah and ducking clipper b2b with only a few tries.
The racquetball courts were soo hot and crazy so I could only play for about 2 hours but I had a lot of good stuff going on in the session and i was pretty happy with it. I really wish I could have filmed it but whatever.
Oh yeah and I returned the equipment today because I wanted to get a tape but it turns out the library doesn't rent out tapes, so I would have to buy my own. Maybe I will, maybe I won't. We'll see...

damn college kids and your drunken modified posts.
I NEVER did that.
and I've never done fuckup b2b. That's sick, man. Can't wait to shred this fall after you've been pushing your game hard lately. Should be epic.

pretty much all the stuff I do every session, I just wanted to document it because I like to have bookmarks. Hope you like it! Sorry for the random lacks of sounds and minimal editing, I'm still trying to work things out with all the stuff at college.
tips and hints are more than welcome, if you see anything at all that needs tweaking which I doubt

you said fuckup b2b... that's fairy ducking pickup, you hit that back to back? that's BIG! maybe you mean without ducks?
a few little tips for your video...
I think your toe to toe moves should be set 4-6 inches higher, to just above the belly button, instead of to the waist. You wouldn't have to rush through the dexes and snag the delays at the last second.
the buckets on G's (both toe and inside) are letting you get catches and hit moves that you would have dropped in lavers. I think it's making your style a little bit too loose, and that you looked better in lavers. maybe consider switching back until you've got your fundamental shuffle / shred style more solid? If you want to see an example of someone else doing this, watch the Funtastik Shred video with Jordan and Chris.

Ah, i see, fairy merlin and merlin.
Props on both. didnt recognize them actualy cuz you do them the same way as me whether it is the right way or not i dont know but the second miraging dex is done a little more sideways than straight up and down, causing it to look really cool. lol. I think if you want to see them done the "right" way (i hate saying that) then watch a vid of Michael Biarda (Cod) doing them, he does them with quite deep straight up and down dexes (straigt legs that is).

in response to Matt: Sorry on the nomenclature for the fuck up vs fairy pickup. I've hit fuckup strongside twice, haven't hit it back to back. Paul called it fuck up when I was at a session a little while ago is all.
I switched to units because I was getting insane shin splints in lavers. However, I may play sessions in them still, I was just going for the extra cushioning on the units. I know what you mean about catching moves I shouldn't. I switched to units and I did feel like I could catch anything. I suppose it would be better to train in the lavers, though it will be depressing to feel so totally tiltless again. I will set my moves a bit higher, I will clean up my style as best I can with my units when I play with them and with the lavers when I play with those.
The only issue I have with the point is that, I used to think that the best way to get form and style was to play with something like skate shoes, because then when I switched to lavers, I would have great form AND be able to catch just about anything. However, the issue is you don't improve as fast because you have to focus on form the whole time, rather than just saying, I know that trick, onto the next one. And if I ever want to catch up to Doug Tank and you, Matt, I want to get there fast. Does that make sense? Maybe I should have form days with lavers and progress days with the units? responses are welcome.
To Ben: Thanks for the props, yes I'm doing it more like symp. swirling pickup than merlin. I was aware of that but just thought it was a style thing more than like a different trick, like doing atomics leggy vs hippy. although I suppose some people would have a lot to say about that, too haha.

Catch up to me? Pffft, your gonna be even better than me! Shit I cant hit atomshamsher b2b or fairy merlin! Mega ultra superdooper props!

well first off doug, you never saw fairy pu>rpt. But yeah, you saw everything else before.
had another session today. I was working on form, vis a vis Matt Cross's advice and it was difficult, but I banged out a few 30 or so contact runs of stuff that I think was looking pretty alright.
To Matt, if you are reading this, did you mean my bigger toe game or also my tiltless was looking sloppy?
I worked both in any case.
Highlights? Yeah I had a few of those.
nallegam>lo>rpt *10 contacts. So now I can do flip midstring.
fear>lo>rpt started from strong side, so midstring fear.
Gyro clipper, sketchily sealed bs
Ducking clipper*3, but not well sealed. I kicked it instead of delaying the third.
I think that's about it. I didn't have much time before work, so it was only like an hour session
PFEIFFER OUT!

yeah, I meant it as an overall critique. don't get me wrong, it wasn't terrible, I just thought it looked tighter and cleaner and more precise in lavers. Some players have really precise, clean styles in g-units, but the main ones that come to mind (moir and clavens) both had a really strong sense of the meaning and practice of cleanliness in their games and really strong styles that were developed in lavers long before they started using G's.
After using lavers, climas, briefly g-units, and lavers again, and then quantums a handful of times, I've gotta say that lavers are my favers. they make for the best looking style, in my opinion, because you have good consistent catching surfaces, but you have to have a good flat clipper, and you either have to have a nice precise toe stall, or nice precise sets to get past the toe walls on the way up.

for sure, for sure Matt. I had my lavers sent up here to Vermont so I could play sessions with them. Unfortunately, I may not play too much with them because they give my legs real guff, but I will do all that I can to develop precision before moving on to greener pastures
