So I watched the new Penske video and really liked the tricks, but not the style. And then everyone goes and tells him how great he looks in lavers, which is really weird. I also donâ€™t get when people tell my laver style is better, when I totally think I look better units. I like it when shoes look big and massive and are cutting huge windows, and units do that.

Anyway, I guess I just wonder why people are so anti unit lately. If youâ€™re high guiltless I think its fine to play in them. They are so much better for you I feel. They are really cushy, have a lot more support, etc. I played in lavers for 2 sessions in a row and I felt like crap. They just donâ€™t do it for me.

Anyway, I think if I get used to a shoe I can play my best in it, and I donâ€™t really feel like I rely on the unit inside or whatever people say. Either way, I like my style better in them right now, so Iâ€™ll keep using them. Plus they donâ€™t make me feel like crap. Just my 2 cents.

Days like today make me have faith that life is a lot more good than it is bad. Today was amazing. I woke up at 1 p.m and made myself scrambled eggs. I ate them at the kitchen table while I looked at last nights work (2 new clavens bags, happy with them for once). I had them with ketchup and a lot of pepper, just the way my dad makes them but he only is up for cooking on Saturday mornings, so I made them myself.

The house was quiet, both parents at work, and I just kind of sat there waking up which was nice. I listened to some new music I got from a friend and started moving around. I read some PMâ€™s and decided a trip to the post office was fitting. I got dressed and went there and sent off two bags. I thought the postage was cheap, and the man told me that he just had some lady bitch to him about rising postage prices, and how younger kids (like me) didnâ€™t seem to mind as much. If I recall correctly he said the lady â€œwould walk her package to London before using the post againâ€

My favorite kind of day is one that just flows and is pretty much absent of stress. Sounds like that's the type of day you had, so good for you that you recognized and enjoyed it.

Definitely buy your books through amazon. Its way cheaper than the bookstore here, at least.

Trade-ins are convenient, but if you're familiar and content with the postal service you can get much more (and pay a lot less) through half-price books, amazon, or other online bookstores. I cut my cost by 50% most semesters and sometimes more. I never sold my books back though. Jess did well with it though.

I use half.com to buy the books and often save 30-50%. I also sell back through there and make better money than selling it back to the school. If you ever mail a book through the post office, be sure to tell them that it's media mail (or just say that it's a book and they'll give you the media mail rate). It saves a bunch in postage.

That day sounded great; it was so relaxed, but it's not like you wasted the whole day on the couch. When do you go back to school, did you already say? I started this week.

12:10. Drinking iced tea. Almost time to sleep. Class in 7 hours 50 minutes. My life is weird. Played footbag for the first time in a week. Wasn't much fun, drop fest. Cool having a guest shredita though (Dukes from Maryland).

I am a cycle of ups and downs. It feels like my ups come without warning but don't last too long. The last one was quite high though. I am in a middle place now, don't know what will happen next.

I have new shoes.

I wish I had the desire to write out the past few days because they have been full of a lot of stuff, but I just feel really lame and don't feel like it at all. I feel really blah. I'm glad I have 4 classes tomorrow to keep me busy.

The new bag is definitely high quality. Good job there. I freaked out cause I thought I lost it, but it was only in a different pocket of my backpack. Hit my first scorpians tail, so its working well.

This thing will be crazy after break-in. And best of all I don't feel bad fidgiting with it because...no lead. Yes, all is good.

Today marks the end of an era and makes me feel quite old. Today, if you donâ€™t know, flipsider.com is officially done. Why some might say that flipsider has been dead for who knows, upwards of a year, I still had some nostalgic idea that one day it would rise again and become to newbies what it was to me about 5 years ago. I entertained ideas of a practice room with multiple angles, I envisioned a shop with a full wardrobe of clothes, who knows, maybe even pro model bags or something. Those dreams were on the backburner, and now they are not even on the stove.

It will be 5 years ago in February that I first typed those fateful words in a search engine: Hacky sack tricks. I remember searching footbag.org, seeing the short shorts and the goofy shoes, thinking it was cool but not thinking it had any kind of street flare. Then I went to flipsider and I saw shirts, stickers, bags with logos, player profiles. It was suddenly cool to play footbag. I felt like part of the underground militia that Ellis had handcrafted himself. I liked the shred shop, I liked the awesome graphics and the sleek designs. Footbag felt cool, miles away from the half naked guys lining the side bar of footbag.org.

I went on to order my first bag from flipsider.com. It was a sandbag, and in retrospect it sucked but I felt like the man carrying it around in my pocket in high school. It would burn a hole in my jeans until I could get home and bust it out, hitting things like 8 kicks and around the world. I was finally part of something, something bigger than Bethlehem, something unique, something I could call my own. The world didnâ€™t matter, for in my hand I could hold the ideals of practice, determination, and success.

I remember I was on the flipsider forums before modified. It was a trashy place, probably because it was a bunch of 15 year olds like myself searching for a place to belong. Searching for a place to escape from the cold world of highschool, into a world where you could be idolized in just a couple years of practice. I liked this world, I liked the kids I would talk to for hours on AIM about tricks and who our favorite pro was. All these kids have since quit for the most part, and at times I feel like I am the last of that poser generation with a flipsider shirt and a smile.

Flipsider was always there hyping the sport. The front page screamed about gravis dunbars, about footfighters, about the results from worlds. The site was personal, you felt like the essays on it were written just for you, a welcomed change from my last hobby of skateboarding. I would read the interviews with vasek, ahren, ken, chad, ellis, and for a long time my silly dream was to be on the flipsider team.

It was soon after I started that I got Where the Ripwalk Ends. This movie defines footbag for me. This movie is why I play, why I wanted to be good. I watched it every night before bed for months. I would write down the combos of my heroes and air shred them in my room at midnight, only to be told to quiet down by my mom. She didnâ€™t understand. She didnâ€™t understand the motions I was making were part of a secret language that only me and a couple hundred of my closest friends spoke.

Where the Ripwalk Ends was sick. It had sick music, it had awesome editing, the camera work was great. It was like a skateboarding video for footbag. It had cool inserts in the sections of the players in real life, showing bits of personality between the monster combos. Ripwalk just totally made me want to go out and shred so I could have a video section. I showed it to all my friends, angered when their eyes wouldnâ€™t sparkle like mine as Vasek nailed stepping ss whirling swirl with a laugh.

I feel like those were my glory days of footbag. Sweaty garages with Ashley, abshire bags, flipsider forum, ripwalk, chilly philly. Those were some of the best times of my life, and then flipsider started to change. Footbag started to change.

I think the first thing I remember on the site that bothered me was how the practice room was supposed to be updated after worlds 03. And then, it never really was, and I would joke about this a lot, how it was a typo for 08 or something. There was also eurotopia, the 2003 worlds video that was supposed to be the sequel to ripwalk. I looked forward to that for a long time. I needed new footage of my idols edited to slick music. Cuz you see, online videos were good and have been around since I started, but they canâ€™t recreate sitting on your couch watching a film from start to finish. They just canâ€™t. Online videos are like â€œhey look at me, check this shit out, tell me why Iâ€™m goodâ€

I love flipsider, thats how I started learning how to play footbag. Watching Ellis and Carol, etc. doing all those tricks. I'll never forget that, It's a sad day indeed

Not sure how many people still read this. I thought my last post was one of the best things I've written in here for a while and it got like 3 comments. It's cool though.
