Little mister destroyer is asleep downstairs on my TV room couch.

Last night we sessioned for some hours and it was pretty epic!

Jorden invented five or six tricks, including more than one FIVE DEX ON TAPE. 8O

I even got to take part in some inventing! Jorden and I kept two footbags circling in a rotation of flying stalls for many contacts. We're probably the only two humans that could have hit the combo.

All this was filmed and should make for a great video.

Oh yeah, and I have some hilarious clips of Jorden going for absurd requests of mine. (Nemesising butterfly, blurry backside nemesis, furious backside nemesis (SIX DEX!!!!!))

I can't wait to go upload the footage and find out how clean some of the epic tricks were.

Maybe that will be what Jorden and I do today, I get to babysit him for the rest of today too.

Oh, and so Skippy doesn't feel left out, Skippy was there too! :)

8O .

8O .

Video! Now!

You're lucky you get to be part of like, history-making stuff :D
I love that he invented 5 or 6 tricks in one session, after already having invented so much before this. Most people are lucky to invent one trick in their career.

he should make a movie called 'Epic tricks' and will be the sequel to Massive tricks! haha, that would be cool, but it would have to include one of those insane nemesis tricks. 8) thats so cool.

5 dex is absolutley nuts, i can barely do 3. ha, good god. did you name it? you should for fun at least.

The rest of Jorden's visit was nice, I took him for a bikeride through some fun trails by my house. He hadn't ridden in a long time, he looked really adorable in my mom's helmet and gloves riding the road bike I had put together the day before. He was a bit rusty but I think he still enjoyed it, I fucking LOVE riding my bike.

Truthtime, I am about as obsessed with bikes as footbag right now. I mean, obviously footbag occupies a massive place in my life that can never be replaced by a bike or anything, but my bikes are just the most amazing supplement to what I already have in life. I got wicked lucky at a garage sale the other day and scored a Raleigh Super Grand Prix in mint condition, in my size and with a badass original paintjob.. for $25!

So like.. less than an hour after spotting the bike I had raped the shit out of it and turned it into a fucking sick fixie. I should post pics, I finally have a bike worth looking at! I post on this fixed gear forum but they don't like me yet. I don't think they 'get' me yet. Also, I havn't really done anything noteworthy in the bike community yet so I really am just a nothing technically. Well.. I am a bike geek I guess.

Also, I turned the leftover parts from my bike build into a whole other bike (the one Jorden rode) that I am selling to my buddy for $50! hah!

After our ride we got together with Skippy and Hunter (New 905 shredder, LOTS more on him later) and had a nice long session. Tricks were hit and things were done. Jorden was less spunky so there were no seventy five dex trick inventions. Also, I should note that I was a bit over-enthusiastic with my description of Jorden's accomplishments, there was only one five dex.

This session was technically the second of our scheduled weekly Tuesday 905 shred sessions. Oh wait, bad form, I guess I should have mentioned that 905 is our new shred posse, 905 is our area code. :) Skippy and myself are the main driving forces and there are a handful of up and coming keeners.

So the newest newbie has a really complex story. His name is Hunter Moyes and we were childhood good friends up until somewhere before highschool. We attended the same highschool but weren't really friends and I hadn't said a word to him in like 10 years until he contacted me a few months ago. He told me that some student of his was watching a crazy hacky sack video and it turned out it was me and that inspired him to get in contact with me. He expressed all the right things, a genuine desire to learn to footbag, previous experience hacking and a generally cool attitude. It seemed he had turned out well. :)

So we agreed to get together to show him the ropes. We had a good evening that started things off well and a week later at the session with Jorden, Hunter showed up with his brand new Lavers that he had taken the initiative to go and buy himself! Fuck yeah! So to make the story even sweeter, he has AMAZING crank! So this all means that there is a new shredder in Oakville and we are glad to have him.

There are two local shredders that I havn't had the chance to play with yet. One nice guy that ordered 3 cuddlebags (I drove them to his house) and Stefan Girotto from Mississauga, the next town over.

I wanna shred with Pengpeng again! We got her some footbag mats to shred on and made her a little shred zone in her basement. I like helping Peng, I wish I could find her some shoes that fit. :? Hopefully the shoes she's got on the way from China will fit her and she will be able to shred with one less restriction. It's SO cute when she plays!!!! :D :D

Okay, so something REALLY big in my life happened today. You know, one of those milestones that is supposed to mean alot.

I graduated from Queen's University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. See how many things I had to capitalize? It was that important.

My whole family drove to Kingston for the day, we left at 9 AM and got back at 9:30PM (3 hour drive each way). We dressed all fancy and stuff, it was fun! Peng was supposed to come with us but had to stay home to do some important paperwork for a relative that is coming to Canada for a better life, I could understand.

I got to wear the fancy gown and go through this big long silly ceremony and shake the principals hand and... I got my diploma!!! :D 8)

After I got called up my sister came and convinced me to sneak out and fuck off with the rest of the show. I agreed that it was a great plan and that I didn't need to hear any more long winded speaches about my responsibilities and potential. Man, I get it, I have to save the world, I already knew that and I am on top of it, didn't they read my announcement on pg. 73? :P

My parents gave me really big hugs and told me they were very very proud of me many many times. I really like my family. It's always funny when we do things. My mom made us take a billion pictures of me looking all fancy in my dress clothes and gown. I will post pictures!

We then went to the best restaurant in town, Woodenheads, which is also the restaurant I worked at for the last year and a half before I moved. :P
You need reservations there EVERY night! And they don't even advertise, everyone just knows that it's awesome somehow. Hehe, I hadn't even heard of the place before I got the job there, I guess I am not their target market, I can't afford to get full!
Anyways, I had reservations and they gave us the best seats in the house. I left the job on good terms and everyone was happy to see me, it was nice coming back to such a nice joint and having everyone smile and know my name.

We stuffed ourselves and toasted me many times, hehe, I could tolerate the attention for one day I suppose. In all honesty, I felt really uncomfortable having so much attention thrust upon me all day. I decided to just soak it all up, I only graduate once. :)

Anyways, that was what I did all day.

I am sleepy.

At the same time, all the time, I am so thrilled for all the fun things ahead of me this summer.

Here is the breakdown of the timeline, I will let you get excited with me:

June 1 - Montreal Spring Jam 2
June 17 - Fly to Munich
June 20 - Adidas interview
June 21 - BERLIN
July 4 - Back to Toronto
Aug 5 ish - Depart by car for World's!!
Aug 11 - Check in at Terra Verde/World's
Aug 20 - Check out, drive back home

Yeah, whoa!

And then since Adidas will freak when they meet me I will then go to work for them starting in September. RRRRAAAAHHHH SSStteeeeering the muuuullltiiiiiiveeerrrseee!!!! :D :P

Love,
Tom

Life's been good. Lots of footbag (did I mention that I was on a 6 day streak when Jorden came to visit?) and lots of biking.

I bought THREE bikes at garage sales on Saturday! hah!
One went to my sister, she LOVES it and I am so happy! She has something totally awesome and exciting and fun to do that she is keen on, perfect!

Here is a video I made of my footage from NYJ. A little late perhaps.. :P

http://www.footbag.org/gallery/show/11536

I'm only posting it here and in the NYJ thread, a little treat for those who check in on me.

I've been stitching SO much! I sat down last night at 10:30 and cut out a bag and then stitched the whole thing! wa-bam! just like that!

I wanna make a video of the tricks I can do on my bike now. You've all seen bike tricks before, but nothing like what I am doing, it didn't take me long but I am already pioneering new tricks.

I will get to work on the (Tom&)Jorden video ASAP. I really wanna see how clean some of the stuff was.

hehe I think the highlight for me was seeing Jorden hit cripwalk (moshing butterfly), as it was my first time seeing anyone else actually hit it! :D

Wheeeee!

Footbag!

I just went skateboarding, it was pretty okay. I went to a local cement park and hit a bunch of tricks there I'd never pulled off before. Skateboarding is pretty cool, I much prefer footbag because of the trick density for sure.

Also.. I wind up bleeding when I go skating.

Last night we had our tuesday night 905 shred session. It was just me Hunter and Skippy, but still very fun. We are all pretty good hackers so we did some awesome hack for a while to start the session.

Hunter is working on his alternating toe stall form, it's coming along well.

Both Hunter and Skippy had new lavers in need of modding so we cracked out the knives and attacked them.

My knife did more stabbing than it was supposed to though...

Skippy was sitting next to me as I was working on a laver, my arm jerked as a piece I was pulling on let go and I totally stabbed my fresh blade right into Skippy's arm! 8O

It started bleeding pretty good and so I got some stuff to soak up the blood and I sent him to my mommy to get mended. Seems like it got him pretty good, he was real light headed and green faced when he finally returned. I felt pretty bad, but it was an accident so there was nothing I could really do about it.

After that drama we finished modding the shoes and played. Skippy was so sharp in his new lavers! yeow!

I think my only highlight was hitting paradon>ddd>barrage bsos.

I am stoked for Montreal! So many awesome people are going!

I should go stitch another bag. I just started a white hex pink pent bag. mmmmm candy.

I should go cook dinner. Night modified!

PS all the people posting pics of their stuff in their blogs makes me want to. I am going to get on that.

We made it back from Montreal safe and sound!

It was a fantastic tournament on all fronts. The event was run well and the attendees were some of my favorite people in life, what more could I ask for?

Of course, gigantic amounts of fun were had, I will do my best to do a full run down tomorrow when I am more awake.

It's 1:55 AM, it's been a full weekend and I am ready to crash.

Fuck, I love footbag! :D

great to have seen you this weekend. Thanks for taking time out to give me hugs when we were talking about the house. I can't wait. see you soon. hopefully I will be better by then. I might switch to climas again after getting my legs strong with lavers. We'll see. I have a fresh pair. Those are a little more stable.

Tom,

The sky is high and limitless in vivid blue for your future. Everything lies due East, toward the horizon of the rising sun. With your passion, focus and drive, there is nothing you cannot achieve!

I wish you the best of luck in everything! I'll think of you always with each start of my day. :P

So let's see what I can remember from Montreal. :)

Skippy came over Thursday night and slept over so that we could get a real early start Friday morning. I am sure we hacked and did stuff like that.

We were a liiiiittle slow getting out the door but we had picked up Jorden at the train station by 7 AM ish and off we went to Markham to get Pengpeng.

We loaded her up and hit the highway 401 due East to Montreal. Whee!

The drive was smooth and fast, I averaged just shy of 140 KPH the whole way.

We got lucky when Pengpeng stumbled across some David Cross standup routines on some scratched CD's in the car door. Those wound up being fucking retardedly funny and the main source of entertainment on the ride both ways. I think that my insults were a little more on point this weekend because of listening to them!

At first I didn't know why Jorden kept saying that he required that we get there super early then I found out it's because the montrealers paid his way to the event and so they deserved to get him earlier. oooh.. I'm sure glad I woke up at 5:45 AM and stressed out.

Anyways, we got to montreal in great time at like 1:30 ish and we were totally the first ones there. We went to James McCollough's house, where Peng and I would stay for the weekend, and got set for the evening of shred/fun.

We made out way by metro to the Place Des Arts, the first person to greet us upon arrival was Mats Soucy (Mats121) who was very nice and so we started hacking and warming up and stuff.

People trickled in all afternoon/evening, it's always fun as footbag events build up as more people show up and things get more and more alive. I am adicted to the energy of footbag events and the people that come to them!

Pengpeng and I brought 14 32's to sell and only sold 5! As if! I think that was one of the first times we havn't sold nearly all the stuff we brought. For most people it was an issue of wanting some but just not having spare funds. The people that did buy bags seemed really stoked and I am sure they will love their bags. On that note, Drew Martin had alot (ALOT) of trouble picking which bag he wanted to buy. I eventually told him that I could guarantee that every bag would be choice. To further seal the guarantee I wrote him a note that read "This footbag will be choice." and I signed it. He wound up picking the loosest stitched bag, a red hex green pent amaretta bag. I think it will be really nice for him. He actually competed with it that same day!

The first night we wound up chilling in matt cross/FAT's room in the UQAM, they had a pimp multi place with two floors and tons of space. It was a real nice hangout spot for us both nights actually.

Lots of fun and joking went on, you know, usual stuff. We took some pictures too, so there should be lots to share.

I was so happy that so many people came! It was a real nice variety of people, it really reminded me how awesome this area scene is! All the events wing up being so fun!

The competitions on Saturday went well. I was asked to do the MC-ing because I have experience and I can speak english. I think I did an Okay job of it, I always feel sorta wierd in that position but I know that Ianek really really really appreciates it so I like to help him out. I was glad to do it for him at world's and so I was glad to help out again here.

Oh man, super embarassing, so a few changes to the rules of circle comp were tried out. One of them is that instead of it being timed it was number of turns. I was, as the referee, supposed to be on top of counting how many times the bag went around and to let the players know when their last turn would be. I kept fucking it up!!! I know it sounds like.. impossible, but I seriously messed it up like.. four times and I think people were getting really annoyed. But I am cute so I can get away with it. :) Most of the mistakes were because i had to be running around doing a million things and I would just lose track. Hey, it was a volunteer job and you get what you pay for. :P

I think I did pretty good in competition. I tend to be able to perform under pressure, at least in circle. In the middle round of circle, the big tricks/links round, I hit blurry whirl>blurry whirl>blurriest>string>osis>spinning whirl>hand.
Other than that I think I just did pretty nice strings, but def. not enough to place first in my heat.

The best tricks/links competition was strange and certainly unlike any other event we've tried! It was like aerial ski jumping where you submit your tricks ahead of time and they get a point value or ranking or whatever.

It was hard being put on the spot having to list 3 hard tricks and 3 hard links that you were going to try. And you get to try each thing 3 times, meaning a possible 18 attempts on stage. I believe I hit like.. one thing. Paradon Gyro Toe. 8) I think the things I picked were waaay too hard (paradon gyro toe, cripwalk, whirling inf//torque>jani (footed), pdx torque>blurry whirl, pdx blender>spinning pdx whirl)

As I listened for the next trick I was supposed to try from my list I finally had useful ideas for tricks I could hit instead but it was too late. (Had I been smart I would have remembered that I can do flying things that most can't and that I have lots of other goofy shit I can actually hit)

Saturday night was much like friday night, except that Peng and I joined the partiers at Foufouns for a little bit. I guess both nights I was already kinda pooped and not exactly crazy stoked to get all wasted and barf everywhere.

Oh man, sunday morning I heard basically the craziest story Ive ever heard.

James' roomate comes into his room at 10:45 AM while we were playing some games of magic (which was a big plus for pengpeng! I was SO happy she got to geek out with some nice geeks, she's been missing that in her life) and tells us that he had just had probably the worst night of his life. I will tell his story in point form because it is pretty long and progresses like crazy.

- he comes with us on the metro to foufs
- he had his backpack, with james' juggling stuff and his cell and he was riding his new skate that he had just finished this epic painting on
- i scratched the painting a little bit with a dumb move i was trying on is board and I felt really bad... though I feel less bad now, and you will see why as this progresses
- at the bar we all part ways, he runs into this chick he'd seen there before and they wind up boozing hard and grinding and dancing and eventually he winds up on the floor all dazed and messed up
- this point is sorta confusing but somehow when he was supposed to go back to the girls place he wound up back at some gay guys house who was hitting on him and trying to give him massages
- he eventually makes it back into the transit system, still totally wasted and fell asleep in the metro station
- when his train came he jerked awake and bolted onto it, leaving behind his bag and skateboard.... 8O
- after getting on the train he passes out and misses his stop and finally gets onto a wrong bus and winds up down at some beaches and eventually he just walked miles and miles to get back home.... at which point he told us that whole story.

haha and he thought it'd be like.. 7 AM, not nearly 11, he was really really distraught and kinda upset..I gave him a hug.

Sunday was nice, we played at Place Des Arts again, I bet I hit some tricks and stuff.

I played lots of foursquare this weekend too, possibly some of my best yet. The french canadians are truely world class 4 square competitors. I would love to see Chicago VS Montreal in a 4 square battle! :P

I was really proud of myself at one point over the weekend. Marc Giard had purchased a bag from me at KICKASS2, it had broken in nicely and I was glad to see it was in such nice condition... except for the GIANT patch it had!! :o

He has really weak english and I hadn't made much use of my french in a long time so we had alot of trouble communicating what the reason for the big patch was. I didn't know if the panel or the stitching had broken or what... eventually I realised what the situation may be... and it was a silly one... I asked him "es ce que le patch et sur le sac quand tu acheter??" (or however you spell it all) (and that basically translates to "was the tape on the bag when you bought it??")
And he emphatically said yes!! hahahahah so I figured it out. When he bought the bag there was a piece of patching tape in the plastic bag with the footbag and somehow it came off it's backing and attached itself to the bag. I guess he just assumed I sold him some dud with a huge blowout in need of a giant patch.
I managed to pull the patch off safely and the bag was virgin and pristine clean underneath. Hilarious!

We eventually headed out, I sold one last bag to Mathieu before leaving and we were off!

It was a really successful event that ran very smoothly. The french canadians know how to throw an event and we all got to benefit as a result.

Thanks to all who helped organize it and put in the hard work!

I can't wait to go to my next event! 8)

Oh yeah and Pengpeng was a super duper awesome supportive girlfriend the whole trip. I was really happy that we weren't jerky bitches and got along swell and we both had alot of fun. I always forget how little and cute peng is until I see her again. If you've never met her you really have no idea how little and cute she is. Like, everything she does makes me need to grab her and love her.

At the end of the event I wound up picking my favourite bag that she had made that hadn't sold and I 'bought' it from her. Really we are trading and she gets the white and pink one I am making right now. :)

She got to play a little but her sore ankle kept her from playing alot.

I just looked over and saw the cat barf up a hairball blob thing. Gross.

I think my best 'that's what she said' of the weekend was when Nic Laroche said during a game of assbag "why did you dump it there? you could have put it anywhere!".

Pengpeng says she likes her new bike that I put together for her! yay! I really wanted to make something that would work well for her, I like helping her out in any way I can.

I have four footbags for sale, I have taken pictures, I just need to upload them now. Does anybody want one? They are all 50 g's, golfball size and made by my golden fingers. Just trust me, they'll be choice! Someone gimme money!

I just wrote my long montreal writeup on the previous page!

Tonight is 905 footbag club night!

There is a new guy named Chad! he came out and met skippy and me last night and he was bloooowwn away! it was such good timing for him to meet us, his lavers arrived at his house today! he already had a few sandbags and freedoms and even jorden's gravity man dvd!

He is SUPER keen and so very very excited to have stumled into this new world!

Tonight the posse is shaping up to be myself, hunter, dan and chad. Oh shit, I should call the other new newbie named Jon.

Why do footbag scenes always seem to explode around me? :D
