Bowl of Oh's, Yeah I Eat Another, Pour Another(Endless Bowls)

Nice session yesterday. Some highlights.

-Paradox Egg BSOS(A few times)
-Smog >PLO REPEAT
-ss Smog BS
-Fairy Leg-Over B2B
-Fairy ss Pick-up BSOS
-Fear BSOS
-Paradox DLO BSOS
-Ducking op Clipper >Ducking op Clipper >Ducking op Clipper >Ducking op Clipper
-String with Ducking op Clipper B2B, 3 separate times.(6 Ducked Clips in a string)
-Pigbeater BSOS
-Magellan >Symp Mirage BSOS followed by Symp Mirage >PLO BSOS(All in one string)
-Pixie string with at least 20 contacts

(And the previous session I hit Ducking far Leg-over >DATW BSOS)

It's too crazy being able to shred with someone everyday, plus Brian is ridiculous.
It was MAD INSANE to have shred with Nathan, Skyler, and Bear in the same circle, twice, on a personal level! And then to drink and play darts with some proper shredders. Plus the handful of sessions with Pipebomb and the DR. TAHOE!

Till next time, yo.

Damn guy.

You're getting ill.. Lots of good shit here.

A few terms you should know:

1) Never heard ss Smog before… but I suppose that's pretty acceptable. Wish that had a name though. I feel like it deserves one.
2) Fairy ss Pickup = Nallegam (because it's "Magellan" backwards! :D (Also, fun fact: Magellan is an ATW and back ;) Get it?
3) "Legover" isn't hyphenated. That's just my OCD kicking in, sorry lol

Otherwise, yeah dude, insane highlights. Film next time you shred with those guys! Would love to see you and the crew in action. Tell Nathan the East Coast misses him.

Nick: thanks for the praise! I feel like there a bunch of same side moves that don't have seperate names(ss Smear, ss Assassin, ss Smudge, ss Pigbeater, etc...), so I just throw that "ss" before it. I need to remember Nallegam better, because I despise trying to pronounce it, but that's just cause I don't know it well. The cycle. My phone auto corrects a hyphen in it sometimes, it's weird, but I go with it cause I'm lazy. :D

Brian may, or may not have some footage of the four of us together
And I should hopefully be seeing Nathan again, so I will tell him then.

Here is some shizz, had more, but I am an imbecile. Might do some filming tomorrow.

Some highlights I can recall from Stanford and solo:
-Egg >ss Egg >Egg >ss Egg >DLO >ss DLO >DLO >ss DLO >Egg >ss Egg >Egg >ss Egg >DLO >ss DLO >DLO >ss DLO > drop
-ss Egg *8
-ss DLO *20
-a string where Smog, P. Egg, and Ducking op Clipper were BSOS
-P. Egg >Smog BSOS (tiltless filler in between)
-Tiltless to 40, 53, 71, 80

Something along the lines of, "how do your legs stay good for so long?"
Almost didn't get it on video. Ha. But, thank ya!

Whoa - nice run!
I really enjoy following your blog, considering that your toe game is where I want mine to be.

...I think I might make it a goal to film myself a bit more this summer.

Thanks, and it's good to know someone enjoys this shizz. Bust a toe month, or a couple, and it'll happen. I like how opposite we are. You should definitely do some more filming, I know I would watch 'em, as I'm sure most would. It's basically summer, and I've yet to see a flood of more full length footbag viddys, yet. I'm still willing to make ya a bag for a damn video.

Figured since I'm injured that doing a mini Vegas Jam write up might summon up some good positiveness. Hopefully I can get back into it in time to get decent for US Open.

Guess I should start by stating me and Brian stayed in Tahoe for a month, in his fam bam's cabin. We were training, for Vegas Jam, but more training for the upcoming competition season in general. Crazy what a solid month of dedicated shred, with a great shred partner, can do. We had the ridiculous Pipebomb, and Skyler Lon fucking Smith stay and shred, as I've posted before. Almost didn't have a ride to Vegas, but luckily, with enough diggin', I was able to borrow my folks' ride. They picked me up the day before we would leave Vegas. Cruised back to Tahoe, that night, then me and Brian geeked out about going to Vegas Jam in 4 hours. Crashed at 2-ish, and woke up at 5:30. Gassed up, and got some grub and liquid for the ride. 7 hours of driving, between me and Brian, was super boring, but flew by. And! Before we reached Vegas, caught a dude coming back from a poop on the side of the road. Priceless. We get there about 2, and everyone is at Chipotle eating. This is where I basically met everyone. James, Nick, Evan, Jeff, Josh, and Tony(?). Everyone grubbed, then we back to UNLV to carry on with business. Didn't meet Ben and Jim till later, as well as some other locals. Crashed at Evan's, with Brian, James, and Nick. Pretty fucking awesome. Snuck into a hot tub, played some super smash bros, got super smashed. At one point, I had a full car with Lon, Nick, Jim, and Brian in the car. CRAZY. Played some drunken Chess with the Deanster, and lost $5 to James in a game. Hope to have more games at future tournaments.I was compared to Chris Pinkus on a few occasions, not only for style, but for the love of Jäger, too. The goal of the Jam was to have coaching sessions with the greats(might of been the best part ;) ), as well as anyone willing, as well as shred with Jim, Nick, and Evan. Which was all accomplished. Probably left out some shizz. Forgot how boring this is, so, I'm done, for now, I guess.

Also like to add that I don't like everyone ADD bashing. I get a lot of people don't like it cause it "limits creativity"(which I feel is a personal belief), but it is the system in place. If you don't like it, try changing it, otherwise, please stop complaining and doing NOTHING about it. When people shrug off moves, like Butterfly and Osis, cause they don't think it's hard, makes me feel like a freaking weenie. Coming from a toe players perspective, I'm not sure when I will have Osis in my game, because it's that's fucking hard for me. Even Butterfly evades me after working on it for quite some time. I don't like how those tricks aren't given the recognition, just because most people do them for bails, or someone's string is too BOP-y. It's still 3 ADDs. I don't know, whatever, dumb rant. Only place I feel like I can post this without people taking it personal.

P.S. Clavens is amazing! and I REALLY wish to meet/shred with some Europeans. Mainly Anssi though, dudes been my idol since day 1.

I think the add system is just part of the game, for the moment. It's like when people ask "why don't you play with a ball". Interesting perspective from a "toe" player. The whole system definitely gives a benefit to clippers. With such a strong toe game, once you get the clippers down, that will boost everything.

Also, go on a trip in Europe some day, people are very friendly and welcoming, not just footbag players, but of course we are part of the same community. I hope to go on a footbag trip to Europe again sometime in the next few years.

From that most recent video looks like your clippers are definitely coming along.

Precisely! Not too sure how many other toe based players there are, these days. It just irked me a little when the Level 1 came out, and Butter and Osis were all over. I didn't see any Pixie sets or multi dexes in Level 1, and I consider those easier. I'm trying, man, I'm trying. Since before making this, I've been pretty focused on Clipper, and had to start from scratch a few times. I seriously don't know when I'll have Osis, I find Eggbeater so much easier.

For sure going to Europe, at some point in my life. Probably wanna travel to any place with shredders(Canada, Central America, Japan, etc). Maybe our trips could somehow cross paths

Thank you for peepin' it, and glad you think so. Seems like you are doing some pretty big things for footbag, you are awesome, and your shred is looking SOLID.

Yo

Got to have a one on one session with Jay Boychuk while staying with Mr. Brian Bear before US Open. 'Twas the shit. Showed me some crazy sets, did some requests, and gave some input on my Clipper. He expanded my brain, as well. Quite the guy. Was lucky enough to have 4 sessions with him, and 3 consecutive Stanford showings. Brian was awesome enough to drive there and back, to Open. Fudge, yeah. Got to meet a whole bunch of footbag peeps, whom I'll try to not forget. Shouldn't be too hard, seeing as I played with everybody. My first real tournament. Mind blowing.

Bitched out on routines, cause that shizz is HARD, next year, though. Circle was cool, epic shizz with Cassy, Dustin, and Brian. Probably had the best runs of my life. One in the Density round started out Pigbeater >Puck then continued for another 15 contacts(all but 1 contact was Guiltless). Water temple was good, too. Not only was it freakin' sweet to shred there, but I played well. Hit Puck Back-to-back. Portland is a real beautiful place, where the peeps are chill. Portland crew is awesome. Still gotta get Chris in Chess!

Started to really work on Butterfly. Did a mainly Clipper session today with lots of toe set Butter. Drilled Infinity style Clippers to try and get Infinities, and it helped. Fairies are also coming along well, which is nice. Hopefully, I won't be so extremely toe-style for much longer.

Not a problem at all! One on one sessions tend to be my favorite. Our paths shall cross, for sure!

Things.
-Pixie Gold, then continued with a string
-Tiltless everything. Twice.
-Tiltless everything *2
-Tiltless to 50, 80, and 100
-All Guiltless Clipper moves, that I can do, in one string. BSOS. DLO, Egg, Ducking Clipper and Switch, P. Mirage and Illusion, Symp Mirage, Toe set Butter. One Infinity, but one side.
-DATW *2 >PLO repeat

Working Clipper, yet again. Toe Butters are starting to come along, finally. Infinity footwork is also starting to feel more natural.

God damn, Scotty! You're getting really good. Cool that you started using Clippers. Once you really crack in on them, and they feel super normal to you, your game will feel the effect.

Yes! Thank you, Paul. Whatever happened to your bloggy blog, or am I blind?

Glad you think so, Nick. I was told my game was getting eh, and that Clippers would help. Though, I concur, fudge Clippers and fuck Butters. Hope to be meeting yo ass soon.

Awww, yeah. Starting a following. Thanks Cass, already kinda follow yours.

-Debating on going to East Coasts. Should be able to, but if I get this job, I might be stuck. Even though I really want the job, kinda hoping I don't get it. My lucid dreaming abilities are so terrible at this point. Drastic effects on my sleep, good thing I'm used to insomnia. REALLY wish someone was filming the Circle pre-lim that I was in, cause I'd love to see the footage. But, if someone was filming, I'd of probably played poopy. Had a session with mi amigo, nothing highlight worthy, actually played kinda eh. I think because it was an early morning sesh(he works grave), but it could be my legs. I try so hard to keep my tricks clean. I really hate THE-ing something mid-string, cause my OCD kicks in and I have to hit it clean. Which can lead to drops. Was reading Anssi's blog about the cleanliness of people's tricks, specifically the recent online tournament. And, he brings up very good points, most of which, I very much agree with.

Man, I really hope to play with that dude. One of the first sessions I ever had was right after Oakland Worlds. I didn't go, but a dude named Rocky(from Chicago, now resides here, also really good) went, and he was bringing back a buddy, Reid Strellner. We played at the train station, and all I can remember, other than the fact of how freaking good he is. Was this story of how Anssi told him something along the lines of, he was the only American who caught him by surprise. HUGE props right there. Kinda been my motivation for getting good, ever since.

awww yeah, work that infinity footwork and toes butters and you'll be on your way.

you had 6 of the 10 best runs i've seen you do in circles. possibly, i have seen you do a LOT of strings. still, vid would have been cool we were all playing pretty well.

Just suck it up go to east coasts! make it a condition that you get a long weekend when you start your job so they can't say no ;) if you get the job, good luck getting it.

stanford has raised you well, the-ing is not acceptable. and will result in no props.

It's much easier to put those conditions in when you are going for the job, instead of when you are already stuck in the job.
