I agree; impressive. You just casually list some sweet fearless combos that you both hit, like they were just some more BOPs. Nice!
Did you get video of the fearless stuff?

Re: Muffinman
Thanks for the kind words, guys
I didn't think too much of the 10 5s, since it's not like I'm able to link them into 10 fearless or anything, but it did feel good. Maciej comes up with some nice challenges. Oh, and, no, I didn't film anything. I haven't been filming at all this winter since we've been graciously granted space in what's supposed to be a "youth program", and other groups have had to get permission to film, and I just didn't really want to bother with it or anything. So probably won't film until we're playing outdoors again.
I had some highlights I was really happy with today:
-a run with spinning whip, vortex, gyro DLO, and mobius all BSOS. Felt so good, and just hand caught after. I've never done that before, so I was really happy
Especially since it wasn't planned at all, I just wanted spinning whip > gyro clipper repeat, and then the rest just happened
-mindbender BS (new trick for me!) The "good" side I hit on the first try, which felt super cool, since I've probably only tried that trick like 5 times ever! EDIT: Oh! And I think this puts me at exactly 1700 tricks! Hard to tell since I'm not sure if I have to wait for my spreadsheet to refresh -- it's saying 1698... Actually. Looks like 67 new tricks so far this year. I wonder how realistic another 300 is for hitting 2000. Hmmmmm...
-suuuper close to gangsta party -- off my heel a couple times, but ran out of steam to keep trying -- my calf kinda cramped up a bit, but Maciej kept pushing me to get it and I was super close
Mike ended early since this was his first session back after a month, but then Maciej and I were winding down and we both declared what we wanted to hit before ending. He wanted barroque and pdx torque BSOS and I wanted double spinning clipper BSOS. He hit his and I hit mine first try after, so that also felt like a nice way to finish off.
Let's see if I can remember more of Maciej's highlights:
-enterrage > pigbeater repeat
-gangsta BS
-alpine food, maybe BSOS?
-food > ripwalk repeat > spender > ripwalk > ripwalk > spender just missed
-double blender > pdx egg > smoke repeat? (or maybe it was pdx blender and pixie whirl?)
-blurry double blender off his heel multiple times!!

Re: Muffinman
enterrage pigbeater rpt is pretty awesome.
How about 2 x double spinning clipper on each side for you.
Nice work on mindbender!

Thanks Daniel
Played yesterday, but my injured ankle was feeling really weak, so stopped about 1/3 through the session. Alex was feeling out of practice, but I thought he played okay. Let me see if I can remember Maciej's highlights:
-ripstein > pdx whirling swirl REP
-whirring swirl > blurry whirl REP (just rolled off)
-bullwhip, scorpion's tail, blurrier, blurriest, pixie paradon all BSOS (I thought he did pixie paradon on the same side twice, but he was super sure he did both...)
-symp jani BSOS
-superfly and shaft BSOS, with scorpion's tail, blurriest, and blurrier all BSOS?

The stuff you are writing that Maciej is hitting would be great to see on video.
Speaking of videos, here is one of that drill you suggested. I think this is the longest I have gotten through so far:

Nice, TJ! Your form is so nice!
I completely forgot about this, but should try it myself.
So, actually, had my first session in about a month today. Actually, looking at the date of that last session, it hasn't been quite that long. My ankle just got worse again and I took time off hoping it would fix itself. And then waking up every morning I could feel it super tight and weak, especially getting out of bed. Then I finally decided to go back to the physiotherapist who fixed my other ankle. Had my first session with her yesterday and she gave me a handful of exercises and wanted me to try out footbag at whatever level I could. I thought I would maybe be able to get through some minor tiltless and then end after maybe like 30 minutes or less? But played for the whole 2.5 hours and played pretty well too. About... mid-level for my skill level, I'd say. So avoided any tougher tricks, but was doing stepping and lots of spinning and ducking and stuff. Oh, no that's not true either, since I did do some bigger spinning tricks, just nothing high-impact basically.
20x20 session #22?:
Some highlights I had:
-double spinning clipper BSOS first attempt at the trick of the session
-a run with mobius and gyro DLO both BSOS
-footed double spinning clipper > gyro clipper [repeat] (a challenge from Maciej)
-a 60-contact run
-opened a run with 10x spinning clipper > 9x gyro clipper [repeat] (oh, actually, I think that was the 60-something run)
Mike hit flip dimwalk for the first time.
Maciej footed whirring swirl > superfly [repeat]?
flurry > smoke > symp whirl [repeat]?
hmm don't remember what else.
Alex had consistently long runs.
That's about it I think.
Now I need to catch up on reading everyone else's blogs.
I hope my ankle feels well enough to play on Monday and then every session going forward again. Urgh it sucks getting injured so often and so badly. But today was super fun and felt perfect. Way outplayed my expectations

Re: Muffinman
Hey Josh, 20x20 is a challenge I made for myself to do 20 runs of 20+ contacts every session. I got up to 20 and was going to stop, but then decided to keep going because it boosts my consistency to focus on.
20x20 session #23:
Some highlights from today:
-65, 76, and 85 (MAY have been 95) contact runs
-a run with ducking symp mirage > diving symp mirage [repeat], and then all 4 of the clipper-set ducking/diving symp mirages same run (unsure if I've done that before?)
-I don't really remember what else, but I played very well overall and was very happy with that
-a run with fog, pixie whip, and gyro DLO all BSOS? or something like that -- mostly still avoiding tricks like fog and pixie whip, but felt good
Mike hit spinning clipper BSOS for the first time, a couple times, and broke his record with a 40-something contact run? 42?
Alex came really close to his record of 49 many times, with lots of 30+ runs.
Maciej had an 80-something run as well (82?)
-Xanabox w/ paradon swirl instead of paradon (reaper > double switch > paradon swirl [repeat]
-almost flurry > paradon swirl BSOS?
-alpine food
-nemesis > bedwetter > pixie paradon swirl > symp twirl > sick run with food BSOS and some stuff?
-stepping whirling swirl BSOS and almost blurry same run?
-food processor and stepping blender both BSOS
-symp torque, pdx torque, and almost mobius all BSOS?
Body feeling pretty good after the session.
No time for my physio exercises tonight though, unfortunately, so I hope I don't feel it too bad tomorrow. Overall today's session felt super good and the longer runs made it feel like a really good workout. Though had to skip a turn after each long one because I felt nauseous after so many contacts. Probably doesn't help that lately I don't drink water until after the session...

Hydrate!
Dude, drink water before during and after the session. Ya noob.
Also how about some damn video in this blog. The people want to see.

Re: Muffinman
Lol thanks Ken.
Good advice. Brought a water bottle today.
No video probably until after Maciej heads back to Poland for the summer. He's gonna be hitting up Polish Champs, or is it Euros? Before going to Worlds. He'll be back when it starts getting cold again. Haha. Ah well.
20x20 session #24:
Was trying to jot down session highlights while waiting for the streetcar to get home, and came up with a lot for myself! I guess it was a good session for me! Which is great, since I went in with really bad back pain and wasn't sure I'd be able to last long. Definitely need to focus on some yoga this week. It's always something with me... Ankle felt pretty good as long as I avoided the higher impact stuff still. Maciej challenged me to a run with bigger whip tricks and I said no at first, but then thought I'd try it to gauge the pain. The challenge was rev tomahawk, spinning whip, blurry whip, stepping whip, PS whip all BSOS. Got them all but the PS whips in a single try and then didn't want to abuse my ankle any more. Maciej did the same with regular whirls and also missed the PS whirls.
My highlights:
-flurry BSOS in like 1 or 2 tries? I always think my flip is the, but Maciej said they were both clean
-rubberman (everyone else was trying, but Alex and Maciej couldn't hit)
-blubberman (first time in maybe 5-ish years?)
-blurriest > bedwetter > diving symp whip (all with my good ankle, since the others were trying 3-fearless combos)
-a 100-contact run > hand catch to end the session
-gyro diving clipper > spinning clipper repeat x5 (so 20 contacts)
-ducking clipper > spinning ducking clipper repeat x5 (also 20 contacts)
-32 good side spinning clippers (looks like my previous record was 30, so that's cool -- only 19 flip, record for that is 25)
-double spinning clipper > gyro clipper [repeat]
New tricks:
-diving knee kick
-diving calf kick
-zulu knee kick
-zulu calf kick
EDIT: dammit, I think this is the second time I've made this mistake. These aren't new tricks. New tricks were if I had set from calf kick and knee kick. Ah well... At least I hit a new record on the spinning clippers
Maciej's highlights:
-janiwalker > sunilwalker repeat (his first time. And actually he almost did it midstring for the first time after having already done jani BSOS in an earlier run) He said this is part of a warm-up to attempting nemesis > arch repeat, though he doubts if anyone can do it cleanly
-blurriest > blurrier repeat (also in prep for nemesis drill)
-blurry whirl > blurriest > bed BSOS (the first side had a phoenix after the bedwetter too) -- he said this was new for him
-nemesis > bedwetter > pixie paradon swirl
-a run with pixie paradon swirl BSOS?
-nemesis BSOS and then blurry flurry (suuuper tight dexes on the flurry)
-bedwetter > phoenix repeat > blurry whirl x2 > blurriest x2
Alex's highlights:
-diving flail (new trick)
-ducking pdx flail first try ever?
-lots of 20+ guiltless runs, including a 47 and 41? And a few 30-something
Good advice. Brought a water bottle today.

20x20 session #25:
-65 gyro clippers ( beat my previous record by like 3?)
-gangsta party (Maciej opened a run with it and then I tried, first try hit it perfectly -- super sticky, solid blender. Felt amazing. Didn't bother with the other side since that ankle is still too weak...) I guess this is officially my biggest trick? The only other 7 I've ever hit was rev montage rake. Oh, no, and I've hit regular montage too.
Maciej:
-nemesis x2 a bunch
-blurriest swirl BSOS
Alex:
-backside blur BSOS (first time ever even attempting flip, which was mid-string)
-50 guiltless contacts finally

20x20 session #26:
Nothing much of note today for any of us. We all had a bad session.
My physiotherapist prescribed double downs and harder whip tricks, so I did some of that, and it felt fine
I did come close to twisting my ankle a few more times today though and that was a little scary, but didn't hurt myself at all. But there were like 3 close calls. I remember hitting something new today, but for the life of me I can't remember what...
-a run with scorpion's tail BSOS and dropped blurriest BSOS
-a run with pixie paradon, blurriest, and almost blurrier BSOS?
-blaze > pixie whip BSOS first try at blazing in months
-double spinning clipper BSOS and gyro DLO almost BSOS (I have a new trick for double spinning which has helped a lot I think!)
-a run with spinning whip, rev tomahawk, stepping whip, and blurry whip all BSOS?
-spinning whip > PS whip [repeat] > a run with stepping and blurry BSOS?
Dunno what else, but it felt good to get back to some of those bigger tricks that I've been avoiding for a while now. I feel pretty good a few hours later now too. I guess I will slowly start adding everything back in. Oh, a run with torque double BSOS and then mobius BSOS, which was the first time touching torques this session? That felt good too.
Maciej was planning to BSOS clownface, genesis, and nemesis this session, and I was going to break out the camera for that, but like I said we were all having a bad session. I think he did genesis and nemesis BSOS though?
-barfly swirl and pdx whirling swirl both BSOS
-ripped warrior and jacknife both BSOS and then almost spikehammer BSOS?
-usual Maciej madness. Next session will be his last in Canada for a while (until November?), and then if he gets a job in Poland he will probably only come for brief visits in the future, so that would suck, but we'll see. He's off to defend his master's thesis, so once he does, 3/4 of our regulars will have a masters degree. That's kinda neat
Alex had some good longer runs in the 20s and 30s (I think a 39 was his highest of this session). He was struggling with bailing to 2 adds this session though.
Maciej challenged me to ducking osis > zulu osis > ducking butterfly [repeat], and I was like, sure, yeah. And then we both tried it and it took us both like 10 tries each -- that zulu osis mid-combo is surprisingly hard! That's about it. Mid-week looks like 24-degree weather, so basically summer, so we're gonna have our first outdoor session, and I can't wait! Not looking forward to concrete though. But Alex also had a chat with our community centre on the way out saying how we want to donate and things and that we're gonna start playing outside soon. And they were super sad and were, like, "Well, come back in the winter! And come when it's raining!" We are soo fortunate to have found this place! These guys are sooo nice. And they also invited us to a... how do you say... like a forum on planning out the coming year's programming, so, like, they want our feedback on how things will run going forward. They also plan to have more drop-ins scheduled, which bodes well for us. Seriously so fortunate!
Here's a pretty badass track I'm listening to right now that I'll leave you with
EDIT: the new thing was 20 near symp mirages. I've hit 19 multiple times before, but I think this is my new record. I should try to see how many I can do total, since I broke into a run after the 20.
Thanks Ryan!

Re: Muffinman
Bailed on 20x20 today. I got through the first 8 super quickly too! Ah well, it was our first outdoor session of the season and I really wanted to focus on just playing for fun, hitting cool things on camera, and enjoying our last session with Maciej. The first half of the session started off very strong and felt super good, but the last half was frustrating for all of us again. I filmed and got some cool stuff on video, but not really looking forward to watching that footage back. I don't remember what anyone hit, really...
The concrete totally wrecked us. My back and joints are killing me. And even Maciej complained. Also, it sounds like Maciej is working on his Canadian citizenship, so potentially a lot more of him in the future.

20x20 session #27:
Hit 20x20 in like less than an hour, which felt good. I normally space it out over the course of a 2-hour session. Actually I probably had 30-ish, but stopped counting after 20. Ended the session on an 86-contact run too.
It was just me and Alex, since Maciej is gone now and Mike is still on leave. But we had a new guy show up and he seemed really into it. He's a circle kicker, but he had all of his basic kicks almost equally on both sides, jesters both sides, back and head stalls... very solid foundation, and we hope he comes back! We'll see.
Alex hit a challenge I gave him: DLO > double switch repeat.
He also hit 19 osii, which is his record (previous record was 10-ish?)
I had mostly just longer runs (most of the 20s were done in 40s).
Double spinning clipper BSOS.. maybe mobius same run one time?
Last session I started to push some more harder stuff that I've felt I've been losing since my 2-year injury hiatus, so it felt good to hit fog > dimwalk repeat last session, even though that shouldn't be so rare for me. Today wanted to get my gyro DLO more consistent, but couldn't double BSOS it, but I think I'll practice that more. It used to be like my consistent bigger trick. Hmm, what else today. I dunno.
WACK WEATHER
Oh, indoor session because Toronto had a wind warning! During the day my manager said that she felt the building swaying, up on the 63rd floor. Then on the way to the session, people were blowing over -- I almost got blown into the street. Almost lost my phone! Apparently 2 people died? Hit by things? On my way home, after bubble tea with Alex, the main intersection downtown we were at had all the traffic lights blown out, with traffic out of control, a few of the lights were blown right out of their supports and were dangling by just the cables and thrashing in the wind. Crazy. It took my girlfriend 3 hours to get home because a tree fell onto the train tracks, and then the train got sent back to the original station after a second stop. Wacky weather in Toronto the past few weeks...
NEW TRICKS
Oh yeah!
I finally hit those diving calves and knees properly today for my new tricks!
-knee-set diving knee kick
-calf-set diving knee kick
-knee-set diving calf kick
-calf-set diving calf kick
Also did these zulu, but only on one side. Didn't want to keep Alex by trying boring tricks over and over. Oh I guess that's soemething I could just do without shoes in my apartment. Hmm.

Re: Muffinman
Nice to hear you got a new guy! I hope he stays interested. In your experience, have you found any good ways to recruit new footbaggers?

Re: Muffinman
Hey Ryan, yeah the new guy seems keen. Sounds like he wants to come back on Friday. We'll see. For recruiting new players... I used to put a lot of energy into that in my first 10 years, but since then I've never felt the need or motivation to make an effort to get new players into it. I find it struggle enough just to be able to play myself. I don't really have a good answer for recruitment, especially since these days it seems like most younger people don't even know what hacky sack is.
HACKY
Had an okay session yesterday.
The pain in my bad ankle is getting worse, and I almost had to stop. I pushed through and felt okay, but it's getting really borderline. I maaay skip Friday. Unsure yet. I don't have my next physio appointment until next Thursday (I think?). Definitely dialed back the difficult and impact yesterday. Though I almost got my gyro DLO double BSOS -- just got too complacent on the final stall. Had some other good runs too, but didn't want to push 20x20, so didn't reach it.
-opened a run with rubberman, and then had something else neat same run, but I don't remember what
-opened a run with ducking symp mirage drill
-couldn't quite hit ducking symp mirage > atom smasher repeat
Symp tricks have never really caused me many issues. I think because they're a trick that I've been doing probably the longest -- near symp mirage used to be one of my biggest bail tricks, and ducking PS mirage was my first 5. I think I land softer on symp mirages and symp whips than most people? Since I know a lot of people avoid them because of the high impact. Flails I land crazy hard on so I avoid those mostly because they hurt me everywhere.
TCAF
TCAF on the weekend. This huge, free comics festival/convention that attracts big names from around the world, organized by the biggest local comic shop and the public library system. Not as many names this year that I'm looking forward to checking out and getting books signed by, but still gonna be fun as always, and I'm sure I'll discover at least one new artist that I dig. I'm stoked to get Afu Chan's new art book, which I think he's debuting at TCAF:

Also I don't have Jen Wang's newest book, and never got her previous books signed:

20x20 session #28:
Nothing notable today except that I was able to play. Back pain all day at work was crippling and I was sure I wouldn't be able to play. Mostly just spinning and ducking, nothing big at all. Ended the session on 100 butterflies > 36 osii. Gonna do a lot of yoga until next session and also maybe wear the back brace just to walk around for a couple days, especially since tomorrow I'll be on my feet a lot at the comic con.
K,that's all. Oh, and the new guy came out again! He did like 9 toe stalls. Good stuff.
EDIT: totally forgot the biggest highlight from the session! The community centre wants to put up a plaque to honour our donations! We went with “Footbag Association of Toronto” (as opposed to our individual names). This is for a rec room in the basement which they also said that we could use basically any time (for example on a day when the main hall/gym is in use by other groups)! We basically set for life. How incredibly fortunate for us and generous of them

20x20 sessions #29:
Kept it light and low-impact today on that concrete and with the back pain, and it was fun.
Had one run mobius and gyro DLO BSOS, 41 contacts > hand catch for my last two 20s.
-10 diving osii to open a run (my record probably)
-10 spinning ducking clippers both sides. I guess I could've done more on flip -- I just hand caught. Don't think that's my record on good side...
-opened a run with spinning ducking butterfly > butterfly x10 (so 10 spinning ducking butterflies), which felt nice since I never do that trick and I don't think I'm super great at it
Probably had closer to 30 20s, but I always just stop counting after 20.
