I'm thinking about going to ShrEdmonton. But I dunno. Money is gonna be tight at that time, as it's the week before I leave on my trip. I think I could make it on the financial side of things with a bit of careful planning, HOWEVER, the other reason I don't wanna go is: PARTYING. I'm not a partier and I don't drink much at all. I know this is a major part of footbag tournaments. I know I can come and hang out during the day and then hang with other friends at night, but I'm worried that I'd be pressured to go and party with everyone.
INPUT?
We're going to try and make things as inexpensive for people as possible.
For one, you can stay in my condo/loft while you're here (free). We're also providing at least one free dinner with the sponsorship we have (possibly two). You should also ask Brett if he can maybe give you a ride down (splitting gas will make it cheaper for both of you). Although, I think you were maybe going to come down with some friends. That's cool too.
Competitions will be on saturday and take up a good 2 hours. (12pm-2pm). The rest of the day will be impromptu shred. Same with Friday and Sunday. Pregistration will be around $20 again which will include a t-shirt, free entry into any competition, and free bbq dinner at the players party (sat night). (registration at most jams is $20 just for competitions).
About the partying: I don't really "party" at all (i.e drink, smoke, anything). Edmonton is by far one of the cleanest shred scenes around. Last year at the players party I bought like 20L of sunrype juice and a couple of us non traditional "partyers" just sat in the basement and watched shred videos/juggled/ect. Joe (the 15 year old that came from maine last year) had fun filming drunk people too. We didn't participate in the kegstands other than watching and cheering. There's absolutely no pressure to drink or anything like that. I still had a ton of fun even though I didn't have a drop of alchohol in me. That said, if you'de prefer to hang out with your friends in the evening, that's totally cool too.
Any more questions, just give me a shout.
I hope you can come!

Thanks Rory, that post made me feel real good about coming. I have a place to stay with a friend so that's not really a problem, and it sounds like my best friend wants to come and see this and we would possibly bring more friends, but I dunno how interested anyone else would be in it. Today we were joking about how I could have my own little cheering section. $20 sounds great for competition entry and the other stuff
I think I would probably skip out on the party. Even though watching Shred Vids and juggling sounds AWESOME! I just don't like drinking much at all, and would rather stay away from it. No offence to anyone who might take offence to that. I hope I get to come and meet everyone!!!
Here's a little video I made for a class in school. It's nothing too specatular, but I hit some nice combos (for me) on it. Hope you enjoy!

sick
I'm sick.
Horrible cough. Sore throat.
HAven't played in a few days because of it. It sucks because I wanna start preparing for Shredmonton in the even that I really do go. I now have three girls that really want to go with me. That makes me feel good. One of them is my girlfriend. It's almost a given that she wants to go. Another is a friend I've known forever and it really surprised me that she wanted to go... then again, she does still have my copy of where the Ripwalk Ends. The third is a friend from Newfoundland that I have only met a few times and we talk on MSN almost everyday. Anyways, If I show up at the Tourney I should have a following of girls. Sometimes I love my life.
Other times I hate it. Like when I'm sick and can't shred and I have the best motivation I've had it a while! AND when noone seems to read my blog or look at my video

ooh,
not a good idea to bring sask townies to footbag related events. I remember on time that humboldt dan brought his gf to one of footbag sessions in saskatoon. What a mistake she had that could kill you. I suppose she wanted to some "big" city stuff. I am using the statement big city here very loosely. However, I don't know them so maybe it is ok. That is just my experience. Also may jams were full of angry townies that is another story for another time.

I'm gonna read your blog now. I don't read most people's; I guess it's the introvert in me. Like, I rarely will walk up to someone and just say hi, but if they talk to me first I'll enjoy the conversation.
on the sickness but
on the pimpage

Thanks Zach, it means alot to know people are reading my blog.
And Micheal, I'm not too worried about taking these girls to the event. They can just leave if they aren't having fun. They know the city and have friends there. It'll be good.
ON the sickness front... Still feeling pooey. Plus Oilers lost the cup, after coming soo close. I was pretty emotionally involved with that team. Haha, I sound lame!! I think I may be mostly sad because that means hockey is over and I need to fins something else to occupy my lonely nights and get my TVless friend to come over. Luckily there is FOOTBALL.
GO RIDERS!!!

GO ESKIMO'S!
Nice video Sen. Good choice of song. Looks like you don't have too much room for playing? Props on dimwalk > pdx mirage > rpt and phoenix. The whirls in the vid looked a bit thin. It looks like your knee is coming in too much towards the center of your body resulting in a shoey dex. Try moving your knee out slightly away from the center of your body and dexing more with the calf. Overall solid tiltless stuff though. Your butterflies and pdx mirages look really good. I think it would be cool to see more boppy stuff from you.
Sidenote:
If you compress the video in windows movie maker as .wmv you can make it a lot smaller. You should also be able to edit out all the black stuff at the end in one step.

THURSDAY
I played for a bit outside of Wal Mart
when I got to Saskatoon. It was fun
seeing peoples reactions. I think I
like people watching. Didn't hit
anything too notable while there, but
when I got to the farm I played again.
Planned on just messing around and
working on the BOPs. That worked quite
well. I had some nice longish strings.
It's awkward linking my flip osis and
flip Pmirage together. I got them
though. I'm pretty sure I hit a couple
of strings with all BOPs BSOS. That'd
be a first for me. Then I worked on
ducking butterfly and managed to hit
it back to back. That felt good. I
guess that's all. I think I'm gonna
keep track of how much I shred this
summer, kinda like Nic does...
ducking butterfly B2B
25 butterflys (new record!)

Nice job on the ducking butterflys back to back-- I've always thought those looked and felt cool. And I like the 10 syllable lines.

1.25 hours tonight.
It was a really nice session. I had fun and played pretty well. During warm up I got 8 ducking clippers in a row. That's a new record for me. Then I drilled pick-up>mirage a bunch and then legover>illusion. Those went pretty well. The mirage one was ALOT better. So I worked on my flip illusions...
13 flip illusions! Finally got ten in that! YAY! lol I just need ten fairy's now. I'll have it before the end of the week. I got nine today. ten was on my foot.
I decided to try out my fairy set again. It's been away, but IT WAS THERE. On my first try I almost had fudge! I worked on it a bit on alternating sides. I hit on my flip first and sealed it with a few BOPS and an attempt at BSOS. A failed attempt, but it was cool that I was able to try it out. A few trys and I hit it strong side! I finished up with an even 100 tricks and stretches.
to recap:
8 ducking clippers (record)
13 flip consec illusions (record)
9 consec fairys
fudge bs
Hours: 1.25
Total in Summer: 2.25
ps I redid my video and put it up in the Videos section. Check it out!

props on the fudge! I think fear would have been easier maybe? I'm just learning fairy sets too. They're fun! This is my fairy drill! -> fairy ss toe x 3 > fairy op toe x 3 > rpt!
I've also been practising fairies out of certain basic moves like legover, mirage, and pickup. Legovers are the hardest to fairy out of I think...

Played for one hour in the heat outside today. It's 26 degrees out with no breeze at all. It was fun though. I played outside the Post office which is the only good place to play outside around town. Well, not the only, but I feel it's the best. I had a pretty nice session. Lot's of people said, "You're really good." and I had a few people stop and talk for a bit. Two asked how many I could hit in a row and when I said 700 they walked away in amazement. One lady stopped and told me she hadn't seen one since she was a teen and I explained a bit about the sport it has grown into. She seemed pretty interested.
during warm up I got 28 consec clips. That might be a record, but I'm not sure. That was alternating. I also got 6 osis in a row.
I hit pixie legoer>smear>pixie legover>pixie.... toe stall.
It was a pretty nice set too. SOON.
I hit fear on my flip side. My fairy set is coming along pretty good. One day soon I may be able to ge them into my runs. So far I haven't hit them out of anything. However I have come close. So that's cool.
Did some consec infinitys and I'd say I hit about 10 in a row on average. I also hit some nice guiltless runs of about 10 or so. I never counted. *shrugs*

Rory, I think fear is easier, but for some reason fudge felt more natural. I dunno. I can hit them both. I like that drill. I'll have to try it. Seems pretty tough. I'll work on it. I should really start trying them out of my two's.

Half hour session tonight. My legs felt jello-esque from my morning session. Nothing was working so I called it quits after the half hour. Nothing of note was hit except for fairywalk out of my flip fairy. I tried for consec alt fairys but that wasn't happening. I had a few nice dexless conmbo, but I wasn't paying enough attention to know what was in them. Lots of spinning osis. I need to work on my flip spin real badly.
Throughout the session I was talking to Andrew Grant on MSN. He gave me some tips on putting together a Shred 30. He's got a good one planned for ShrEdmonton. Watch out! His thoughts were really helpful and I think putting one together is actually going to be fun. I just wish Shredmonton had an Intermediate comp. Oh well. Shreddin with the big boys! lol We also talked about tournaments and about the Saskatoon crew. Good times.
