YES! I have returned, I have re-surfaced, I even have a new pair of shoes. It all started when I talked to Paul Wackerow a few weeks ago. He asked if I had played recently or if I had given it up. I thought to myself, no, I haven't given it up (very few of us ever will) but I haven't played in a long time, since I went to school in Alfred. So I thought wtf! I need to start playing again!!! So I started slow, a little each day, going back to hardcore basics. And waited for the right moment. Looking back I think my will to shred dyed down due to the lack of freestylers in Alfred(I was the only one) and art school was time consuming and surprisingly hard. But upon my return to Syracuse and my rediscovery of footbag basics, I started hangin out with a friend that liked to kick a hacky sac in his living room. I told him about the wide wonderful world of footbag and how much fun it was. I let him barrow tricks of the trade, I also gave up my babies(ie my perfectly broken in shoes) and a new mr sandbag. He started strong, picking up clipper bs after a few sessions, butterfly and mirage came closely after that. After introducing the sport to someone who had never heard of it before, I was reminded of footbag's other side. The people and more importantly the community. So I reached out, and found you guys again. I am still no Ryan Thomas, but I am working on becoming less onesided and more consistant. One thing that sticks with me are words from Jon, the Outsider. "We can't HELP but get better" And thats all I want to do. But to do that I need to play with you guys again, because my skills have never improved more then when I was kicking with the RFA. As for my friend, I don't think he is ready for kicking of this caliber, he will be soon, I have yet to teach rules, and do's and don't. Polite circle kinda stuff. But soon. I hope I can make it out this week for the shred, I am nursing an upset knee, but I don't think that will effect my decision. Keep me posted! and its great to be associating with RFA again. SPREAD THE SHRED!!

Got a footblog! Just trying to get really excited. I think it's working.........where is my carol bag?

Matt I saw an interesting picture taken during Montreal Worlds the other day. It was a picture of hundreds of Taco Bell sauce packets, they had different phrases and comments on them, which were all facing upwards. Row after row, infront of your room in the hotel. I remember it being the work of Paul. I don't remember much more about it worrying that someone would make a terrible mess. ohhhhhh Worlds.

oh man.. I'm so glad that didn't make a huge mess.

We had some great times with mike in montreal.

My favorite is probably the "time channel" incident.

Followed closely (was it on the same night?) with the waitress incident.

There's been some good times since then, bill, hope you can check out some more of them!

This blog has been a little slow lately, who wants to take part in a little project?

Another RFA classic story:
Matt Cross, Paul Wackerow, Alot of beer, and Matt's guitar. I can see the headlines now: No, Paul that is not the bathroom.

Funtastic Summer classic was always a great time for RFA. Like having Halavet for the hell of it at the players party! Camping with Jon, watching Where the Ripwalk Ends before it was even out yet. I can see as clear as day my last funtastic, the hotel. A hundred back backporches, lit up all night just for us. Footbagers in every porch area playing guitars, smoken whatever, drinkin, and most importantly shredding, everywhere! Good times

Favorite RFA memory: Hitting my first atomsmasher in front of Paul, Chris and Mike at the top of Cobb's hill. That and getting props for some of the things I pulled at the end of the summer.

Funtastik, definitely always great. The best part for me this year was meeting Jay __ and Dan Bodkin, two of the inductees into the hall of fame. Meeting both, and seeing them still loving the game and staying involved at almost twice my age was a real inspiration for me. I know it's the same for Tom.

I wish there'd been more freestylers there, though! especially RFA members. Hopefully, schedules will coincide better next year.

Here's another little memory...

Me, Chris Dean, and Gordon Bevier, 3 man session in Rochester, paid 5-10 bucks each to get into a health club and use a racquetball court. Pretty laid back session for a few hours... good shred all around, I hit symp flurry first try. It was too bad we didn't have more of our pals, but it was nice to have a small session, too.

here's one that I thought of:

I think it was back in 2003 on the way to Funtastik, and I believe the passengers in the car were myself, Paul W, Bill, and Rick. We made way too many stops and it took a ridiculous amount of time to get to the campsite, but at one of the highway service stations someone had the bright idea of getting a sharpie and writing "SHOW US YOUR TITS" on a big piece of cardboard. We had no success (hard to believe, i know!) and soon it got dark so we used a flashlight so other motorists could still appreciate our pretty sign. The fun ended when we flew by an old couple's car, definitely speeding, with this light bouncing around inside. A pair of cops rode up beside us looking all menacing, but then kept going. They didn't flash either.

Oh and then there was the first event I went to. I took my mom's car to Montreal without telling her. haha.

I always enjoyed our travels with the philly footworks crew. Some nice memories from the challenge: a kid sleeping totally upright on the couch(nick?),monster joints, LA FUF! and shredzone!

Plasa de Arts is the best shred spot in montreal, cept tam jam. Period.

So...I've never been to Rochester, which I feel really really stupid and bad about. Sorry guys.

I'm so down with coming there soon though!

But I do have an RFA story, it just took place in Kinston, Ontario in 2006:

KICKASS 2! The after-party! I had the MOST fun with you guys! Laroche & I kinda snuck into your crew and that was one of the funnest nights ever:

-Finally getting to know Chris Dean! We ran into each other outside the washrooms at the bar and started chatting, and then other people started joining in, like Aric Mac, and it just turned into a big washroom party... I remember it being really funny but I was hammered so I don't remember much else...

-Mike Anello!
Now I ain't sayin' she a gold digger...When I'm in neeeeeeed!!
Get down girl, go 'head get down.

He was the funniest, singin that ALL NIGHT!

-All of us carrying Will Digges around Kingston cuz he was GOOOONE!

-Waiting forever for a cab and then just finally walking the entire way back to the motel

-Crashing your motel room at an ungodly hour and waking whoever was asleep in there. And then continuing to party really loudly. Sorry to whoever that was! Oh yeah, we got calls from the office telling us to shut up too.

Sorry that I don't remember more, but I do know I was laughing so hard it hurt and I went home saying that it was the best weekend of my life. <3

That night at KICKASS was incredible. I remember that night; the long walk in the rain, carrying Will Digges on my shoulders, partying at my room all night. I was so happy to have met you that event and party with you. It was so much fun.

I am not sure if you knew this or not, but I didn't know the words to Gold Digger. That is why I was always mumbling the chorus. LOL

Nick would say, "Get down girl. Get down. Get down." LOL
