Yeah that was from his graduation. He's in 3rd brigade now. He trained down at Benning.

As of five or six days ago he arrived in Baghdad via Kuwait. Him and his platoon are currently spending nights in a Mausoleum (AKA crypt) with some old dead Iraqi politician.

In January of this year, I saw video of soldiers training to become Airborne Rangers... holy shit. Infantry training's tough enough, but the shit they have to go through is nuts. Not even basic Marines go through as much shit as they do.

I give your brother props, btw. Completing INF AIT isn't easy, by any means. That 12 mile road march (especially if you're stuck with the M249 SAW or even worse, the M240 Bravo), up hill, in damn near 100% humidity, lol. I could just die thinking about it.

Rhymes like that are so inaccurate, lol. Sgt. Ingrem of 2-135 D Co. (Albert Lea) scored 99% on his ASVAB testing, and as a result, was put through two more advanced tests, scoring above 95% on those, and was offered MOS's in computer fields and what not. Non combat, high paying jobs. He turned them all down for an 11B MOS (Infantry), and 4 years later, now he's an Airborne Ranger.

There's a lot of smart people in the military. They're not all drop outs with GEDs man.

But yeah... I just found out some bad news this afternoon. My superior, Spc. Peterson called me today. Apparently, sometime around August, I'm getting discharged either Generally, or Honorably. She apparently fucked up on some paper work when dealing with my ship dates, and she said that unless she can get ok from "top", she's not going to be able to fix it. So, I guess I'll have to just wait and see. So much for my ticket through college. Gotta start saving money now.... *Gasp*

I'm pretty ticked. More or less don't know what to do about it, or what to do with myself.

Hahah Fred I wasnt dissing the airborne or any military offshoot by anymeans, just a stupid rhyme I learned back in the day, Im a military brat myself. I used to play airborne ranger on my commodore 64 and that game was the shit. I got respect for the military, my dad pushed me to join but I always refused cause I dont think its the life for me, it is a very good job though and takes brains to do no doubt about that.

Yeah he had in his contract that he would go to Ranger school, and he did for like 2 or 3 weeks but ended up failing a PT test. I figure it was a mix of Ranger school kicking his ass and just wanting to be regular infantry.

Was fun to shred in France though I was soaking wet after a few minutes because it was quite hot there - but the sea was close (1 min by foot

) so I could cool down after a little session easily
