Love them because they are very good for my game ...isn't it obvious that if you want to learn a trick till perfection that drills are the best way to get there ? How can you hate them if they make your game so much better ? :D

well some people could find them very boring... but I think they are very important. that sucks about your mental barrier man :( do you think it makes it harder to progress because you dont drill? how do you skool a trick/concept?

edit: i'm a solo player so i drill alot... when i play that is... i don't play nearly enough... but yeah i mostly drill when i play. my strings get repetetive and boring :(

I'm 80% of the time a solo player and that's why I'm either learining a new trick or drilling the old ones (I drill the new moves too :D ) ..

If it gets too boring I just hit some strings and go back to drilling...I make so much progress and it's so much fun...drillings are very important for my game and because of it I can hit funny strings already after playing about 3.5-4 months...

I only use drills to school a trick or lengthen my strings.

that's about it. I do drills every session for every warmup.

I have no "attatchement" to them or anything

I'm addicted to drills... Is there any cure for this disease that is slowly killing my imagination?

Chris -- the point of drills is to learn the drill and be able to hit it a couple times through. If you can't hit magellan>pixie ss mirage>rpt more than once through than you need to school that drill until you can! Then when you go to throw pixies in your runs they will be more both sided and natural for you.

I always say a drill isn't a drill unless you can hit it more than once. Otherwise it's just a combo.

So like if the drill is: whirl > butterfly > rpt

I wouldn't consider whirl > butterfly > whirl > butterfly a drill, I think you'd have to hit that again for it to be a drill.

I like drills, but I used to do them too much that my consistency "dropped" and my creativity disappeared. I think a balance is definitely needed, even if you play by yourself.

No, I don't play soccer. Yes, there are competitions. 4 years. Lots of practice.

Drills make me feel secure and help develope my style. So, I like them (but don't do them enough).

Offtopic,
what is the difference between "both sides" and "bsos" ?

BSOS = both sides one string. You hit trick on both sides in one combo.
BS = both sides. You hit trick on both sides but unnecessarily in one combo :)
I think that now you understand :) Peace

I have an ongoing adulteress affair with drills.

I don't think i love them, it is more lust.

I hate drills they are super boring and wear my legs completely out.

Nah - I'm just kidding.

I drill a lot, I mean a lot. I barely have any energy for anything sporatic after a solo session. I save the spontaneity for when Aaron comes over or I go down to Mission Beach to kick with the Footbag Whores.

I do find drills to be predictable when watching, but when the drill is ripstein>superfly ..... I don't mind so much.

i hate drills.
but, i must be the least fundamentally sound footbagger in all of history. like, i will try something until i get it, and then say to myself, 'ha! i have accomplished this, now i will do something else and never "practice" that again!" also i try tricks that are far beyond my skill level and ignore the basics. metaphorically, im a tower shaped like this

NN N nNNNNN <--midsection/light guiltless (uneven, tilted)

I should drill more than I do. As soon as I started getting mirages and pixies I stopped drilling as hard. I need to start drilling hard again.

Drills for me have always been that necessary evil that I have to do for footbag. They get really repetitive, but after awhile of ground stalling, when you hit mirage>legover rpt, it kinda gives you a warm, fuzzy feeling inside that's only bested by that feeling when you start hitting illusion>pickup. 8O
