How do you tie off your thread, both at the beginning and when you complete a pentagon?

HEY GUYS!!! i finnally (after 2 false attempts) got a decent bag. It is made out of a material i found. Its kinda like jersey material but its thicker. Although it thick, you can easily glide through 8 layers w/ a 20 year old needle. (my moms). Here are some pictures.

Although! my blind stitch could use a little help.

My mom is teaching me hwo to do the blind stitch.
