You are more than welcome to take shots at me. The next one even remotely related to my daughter gets you permanently banned from modifed, I don't give a fuck how many threads get started over it or how many people whine about bringing your pathetic ass back to the forum.

If the latter is true, then you might as well do away with the bottom three sub-forums. I do think most modified users want the former though, in which case marijuana and what not should be allowed on the forum.

my thoughts briefly:

-drug related avatars should not be automatically removed, but we as a community should question whether they are productive. Users DO have a right to freedom of expression as long as their rights do not infringe upon the rights of others
-Dan Feary is walking a tight rope with Brad. I personally think his jab at Brad's daughter was said jokingly and should be taken as so, but be careful Dan.
-It is prolly not a good idea to open up discussion/kicking circle threads in front of certain audiences or in certain locations simply b/c of the potential content that could be viewed by other unwanted parties.
-Modified users should have the brains to know when stuff they post contains questionably provocative material and they should also be prepared for that material to be edited or deleted by a mod. Things can always be "checked out" with a mod beforehand to ensure that certain material will be allowed to stand.
-It is silly to think that *anything* can be posted on these boards just because one is a member of the community. If a post offends me, I will have it removed.

Brad, I expected that sort of a response anyway, so I can't say I'm surprised. Frankly, I could care less, as it was a silly thing to do. However, I have to wonder -- would you have removed the avatar had I not posted in a goading way for all to see? A lot of this seems really reactionary and silly. I mean I've had the avatar before for a period of over several months and no one even mentioned it to me. I hope I meet you next year when I go to CSS so that we can laugh over what buffoons we've each been.

I'm sorry if my antics have tarnished your daughters love of the disgusting Hello Kitty, but... I doubt it.

Ben, Dan -- I completely agree.

Pretty much the ONLY problems that arise on this forum stem from either posters like Dan and Damon going to town on the boards, or from topics which people can't agree on whether or not should be allowed. The simplest, fastest, and most effective way to quell this shit storm of inane arguing is to just spell it out for people:

"THIS IS A MATURE SECTION OF THE FORUM. IF YOU CAN'T HANDLE PEOPLE'S DIFFERING OPINIONS/MATURE TOPICS, DO NOT ENTER."

I'm not sure if a forum constitution would be overkill or not. If the above were met out, I think it would be. However, it seems like a it may be a possible alternative to the problems.

Sorry for the double post, but I just saw this.

Thanks for defending me (sort of), Jeremy, but...

No!!! This isn't how to moderate. Argh, this is probably why the forum DOES need guidelines regarding posting and moderation.

Whoa, Brad. First of all I didn't take any shots at your daughter. I honestly apologize for anything I said you took offensively (Over the course of our relationship), but I didn't mean any offense. I too would be willing to ban (Because really, that's the only thing you can do) anyone who insulted any one of my family members.

All I was saying in my post was that whether or not your daughter saw a cartoon character smoking isn't relevent to the discussion, and you were using the example like it was. If you'll explain how the example was relevent to the discussion, I'll apologize for the post, but in the way it was made, I don't see how I'm in the wrong here. I never would have brought up your daughter at the random, and I was probably wrong for using her in a post anyways.

Either way, I still don't understand how your three year old daughter seeing Hello Kitty stoned is going to effect modified in any way, which is what this discussion is about. To best honest (Which I feel is a good policy), I think it only shows how far removed you are from the entire situation.

I can vouch for Dan on the apology. Knowing the guy he was definitely being sarcastic in order to demonstrate a point.

Brad you've completely over reacted and what you're talking about is completely an abuse of power. It's completey inappropriate to ban somebody because they make a personal remark about you or your daughter - especially one such as Dan's which is hardly insulting. What is the point of having forum rules if the admin on the forum is above those rules and punishes people for personal reasons. As somebody in such a position of power you should be setting a good example not losing your temper at the slightest comment. If those comments were made towards somebody else - who wasn't a mod/admin would you have threatened to permenantly ban them? There are hundreds of examples on this forum where it's clear that you haven't done that. I really wonder if you have the maturity to be in any kind of position of power.

I just don't understand how people can get so angry or pissed off over what somone says over the internet. Brad, i don't know why you get so pissed off with Dan. I mean, it was clearly a joke, and i think you just get too angry. It's the goddam internet, you should learn not to take things too seriously.

And i agree with what Jeremy just said above. Brad, i think you need to just calm it down with Dan. After your posts it seems like everything dan says is offensive or immature. I havent met Dan or anything, but im sure he's a cool guy and ive seen some awesome posts by him.

Maybe now you see why Brad SHOULDNT BE in a position of power. SOMEONE DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!

It's sad to think that his 3 year old daughter will probably grow up to be like him...

AND YES I HAVE A RIGHT TO SAY THAT... BRAAAAAAAAD.

You detached dictator.

The above comment, however, Sam, was way over the line regarding Brad's daughter. Let's everyone please keep it civil so that we can get some somewhere with this discussion.

There's a lot of ego trippin in these here threads, so Im gunna continue to lay it down:

-1st Jeremy: Although I respect you a lot, I think its bullshit of you to have recently declined your duties as a moderator yet continue to post, if not more than ever, insults Brad's way. If you don't like the way he is running things, then why did you give up your position of relative power? It makes no sense and I can't see how you're doing anything productive by letting your negative views be known. You're just fueling more Brad hatred, which is not the goal of these discussions.

2nd Sam: When you say things like, "It's sad to think that his 3 year old daughter will probably grow up to be like him..., " you just continue to prove that you have no tact, no class, and that people shouldn't take you or your comments seriously. We should all hope to grow up to be someone "successful," with good morals, who cares about family and the way people are treated, who takes the initiative to assume a position of power when asked to do so, who goes out of his way to help and provide for other people, and who tells it like it is.

3rd Dan Feary: "I definitely don't think anyone cares about your daughter, Brad. . . . (several posts later) First of all I didn't take any shots at your daughter." Are you a moron dude? Way to puss out and follow up your feary-style comment with some hippy-loving, peace activist "I wasn't trying to offend you" crap.

I don't think its such an over-reaction. I mean, Dan keeps deliberately pushing Brad's buttons. Aren't there every going to be any consequences at all for that sort of thing? Sure, a mod should exhibit alot of patience. But isn't there any limit at all on how much they should have to put up with from any one person, or does he just have to go on taking it no matter what?

Jeremy, by your own moderating standards I should delete your post for going off topic. What if Dan had said "That's pretty gay, Brad"? By your moderating standards I should have given him a temporary ban just for using the word "gay" and already being warned about it. Where's the line Jeremy? I'm certainly more offended by Dan insulting me and my daughter than I am by him using the word "gay" or "fag" in any of his previous posts.

Brad, no one insulted you or your fucking daughter. The truth is, I don't care about your daughter. Why would I? I have no reason to. I don't expect you to care about my family members, but still, I do expect you to not insult them, which I ddin't do to you.

I don't know why you have it out for me Brad. I like you. You're a good guy. You just take your job way too seriously, which is an opening for me to have fun with you every once in awhile. You're only hurting modified by pulling this shit Brad. You can't be a mod and act professional 85% of the time, and the other 15% you're acting like me.

What buttons did I push? I said I didn't care about his daughter, which I don't, and I'd be amazed if you did too. I didn't insult her. I didn't insult Brad. His example was just stupid because it didn't relate to the argument, and I was pointing it out. I realize I can be a littlr blunt sometimes, and leave a lot up for the reader to grasp, but their was no insult intended.
3rd Dan Feary: "I definitely don't think anyone cares about your daughter, Brad. . . . (several posts later) First of all I didn't take any shots at your daughter." Are you a moron dude? How did I puss out? I don't care about his daughter, and neither do you. The example was stupid and I'd love to see anyone prove otherwise. Brad's daughter isn't relevent to modified.

And what the fuck are you talking about "hippy-loving, peace activist"? Do you even read any of my posts, or do you just skim through them? A hippy loving peace activist? God you're a fucking joke dude.

This form is getting crappier everyday :(
What is needed is a new set of guidelines voted on by the community and stuck to by the admins. No more personal moderatering and no more being dicks to one another. Set out the rules clearly and openly and let the community vote on them. If the community agrees (say 50.1% + or more) have those rules be our guides and those rules alone.
