It's neither baseless nor stupid. It is a racial slur in most case's and his opinion is that it's completely inappropriate.

I see nothing wrong with it. Black AND (here lately) white people say it to each other. Think about it, if you watch something like the movie "Baby Boy", all you here half the time is them saying "Sup Nigga?" or "Nigger Please". They will complain when a white man says something to them about it.

I see a difference between a REAL Black man and a "Nigger".

Nigger: Piece of crap who thinks hes all that and acts like he thinks hes better than everyone else.

Black Man: Someone who, if you looked at there record, you couldn't tell WHAT race they were.

Theres my Opinion.

are there actually any black people on modified anyways? I just think that sisnce it can be insulting, it should be avoided.

That's my stance on the issue. I try to refrain from using any derivation of the word "gay" for similar reasons.

Very good point Jeremy. That's pretty much why I asked about the usage of the word. I wanted to see how eveyone else felt about it being used.

Spoken from true white and racist perspective. White people have no clue what Black people in the US have gone through or go through on a daily basis. You don't even see the various degrees of racism that exist, or maybe even that you yourself are racist.

I am not a racist, there are some good black people, just not many. I hate a lot of white people. I like a lot of white people. its just how they act. I AM white and I AM proud of it. When you say what they went through, look at them now, most of the time there getting more and better stuff than the white people, when the slaves were there great great grandparents. I think thats a bit stupid.

I think it's in the directors commentary of 'Training Day' (I believe the writer, David Ayer said it). There's a line when Denzel Washington calls Ethan Hawke "My Nigga".
It's explained that it's used as a sign of respect, of acceptance. He also pointed out that the word was 'Nigga' and not 'Nigger', which the latter is seen as an insult.

I've used the term nigga with my mates, but the way in which it's intended is as though to say 'mate', 'buddy'. It's never ment or used in a derogetory way.
The fact that I call (and get called by) an Asian guy this kinda emphasises the fact that it's not said (by me or my circle) as a racial slur.

I believe it's all about the context in which the word was used.

I had no problem with the way the term was used in the origional post that started this discussion. But then, I am white.

While I agree, I've never heard a real, based racist comment. (Not directing this at Dan, but at every racist.)

I judge persons, not races. I don't really know any black people - that's because there aren't many here. And if there were, I wouldn't hang around with them "just because they're black". That's what I call racism.
