I don't think the complaints about this are warranted. The regular sized colored bricks that all of us grew up with are still on the market, so it isn't like these pieces are stimmying anyones opportunity to be creative. Of course making a model of a live in Pineapple isn't as awesome as some huge Castle you puts hours in to, but this is just modified being old and grumpy and already hating on the generation south of most users on here.
Basically, Spongebob legos aren't creating a generation of stupid kids.

Yeah I agree with Dan, as long as they keep selling the original blocks as well as these more complex ones...
I'll still think lego rocks, if anything these more strangely shaped blocks further open up the potential when combined with the normal ones. I don't agree with the assumption that the original blocks are all fundamentally more versatile than all the odd new ones - in some, perhaps even most cases this assumption may be true, but some of the newer blocks can be equally and more versatile than the originals.

The reason there is so much "ADD and ADHD" these days (or at least, so much of it being diagnosed) is because instead of growing up watching clever, funny cartoons like Wile E Coyote and old Bugsy, Foghorn Leghorn, and those guys, kids are growing up watching SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
its so loud and obnoxious and not funny unless you love loud noises, that the kids NEED loud and crazy things to happen to pay attention.
die nickelodeon, bring back double dare with marc summers. Bring back global guts, bring back CLARISSA!

Trucks = great
Fighting robots = great
2in1 Transformers = not great.
Okay, maybe it's too early to say Lego is dying. There were special parts already when I was playing with them, just not as much as now, and sometimes I bought some packages just because they had cool and useful parts for my own projects.
I mean, Lego is like building a tree hut. The building part is the best and when it's ready you're proud of it. But after it's finished, the tree hut isn't that useful and fun to play with, so you go and make a new one.
That's how I find the Lego. Even the hidden passages etc. don't remain very interesting very long, the best part is the planning, figuring things out and - the climax - building it.

Am I the only one that thinks Spongebob is the only half decent kids show out there
It would probably be one of the only cartoons I'd let my kids watch (that is if I had kids)
I used to be a lego fiend. I really got into medieval legos w/ castles and ghosts
Oh yeah, various ships as well (space ships, sailboats, submarines)

If I can stop being lazy I'll post a pic of the Mladen-inspired quadriped hover tank thingie that I built a few years back. It's on the book shelf collecting dust right now...

Going through a box of electronic stuff, I ran across the "brick" that controls the sensors and motors for the Lego Mindstorms robotic kit.
To bad this computer is in-compatible with the IR tower , used to upload programs.
And my old computer is gathering dust, in pieces...otherwise I might build a robot to serve 4-Square.
And there might be a shit-load of castle legos, in a box ,in the garage, along with tons of other mixed-type we used to play with.
We'll probably just hand them down to my sister's kid, when he/she gets old enough to not choke on the battle-axes.
